Really loving the apprentice - the possibilities are endless! (Unintentional rhyme). Loving the possibilities on this char. Next up is Cryptid! One of the most consistent chars in the game.

Great run! I just ran this character as well and the build possibilities are endless and I can't wait to deep dive into the character even more!

Didn’t know plastic explosive and explosive shells swapped effects and rarities
Anyways this run was a smorgasbord of various things that damage those lean blobs

Once the game is fully released (June 23) I'll absolutely be taking this one into endless!

Fun! Two thoughts: Anvil and common items don't really mix. If you think about having two level 2 items vs a level 3 item and a level 1 item at the end of the round, you are going to either get on one hand a level 3 and a level 2 item vs either a level 4 and a level 1 OR level 3 and level 2 (either way you are ending up with a total of 5 levels). In the case of the second, you are getting the same as if you didnt upgrade, meaning you threw away money for a (usually) damage downgrade on one round. Level 4s are fantastic, dont get me wrong, and sometimes are 2x better than a level 3, but that level 1 is really holding you down, because you now only can upgrade that item if you find another level 1, as opposed to finding another level 2 or 3 to upgrade. Thats just how I think about upgrading items with the anvil.
Second thought is xp gain on apprentice. You can see at the end of the game you were doing tons of damage because your damage stats were so high. When you level up, you obviously arnt going to grab melee, engineering, range, or elemental since you are getting those stats for free. You also are dropping hp, so there is a light penalty for leveling. While levels grant really good stats normally, you dont really 'need' stats on apprentice. I think what this run really showed is what apprentice thrives on is effects. The biggest effects came from scared sausage, pocket factory, rip and tear, baby with a beard. When you spend money on small xp gains like blackbelt or scar, you are essentially buying future damage, which obviously you didn't need. Bean teacher probably was worth the cash though since it was a larger effect and I imagine Id consider peacock depending on the wave. But it might be better to focus instead on effects instead of damage stats or xp gain.

You're 100% right, I actually realized that right after I did so, but didn't want to segue off at that moment. But you are correct and that was a misplay on my end!

I can't tell if these new characters are just easy, or if it's just hundreds of hours in the game.

TBH that's a good question, I think all these chars are a decent power level, though some of them are more snowbally than others. I'd say all are above normal strength, but then again I have (way) above normal playtime, hard to say!
