    I probably owe you a delicious breakfast, man, because you really saved my bacon today! My wife Connie has a thing about filtered water, so I bought a house filter for our new place and figured I’d handle the install myself. I’d never messed with copper pipes before, but your tutorial gave me the courage to try something new. Everything went smoothly except for the last two joints; there was a trickle of water in the line that I had to deal with. Thanks for your expert guidance.

    You going to get leaks soldering like that. I work on commerical plumbing. Big pipe. I have plumbers come over from housing to commerical plumbing and always have leaks because they dont move the torch around and get even heat. They do just as you show in the video and only heat the bottom of the pipe. Move that torch around. Start on the bottom and finish on top.

      @@tytar1037 Done right with minimum amount of heat the bottom should start to cool while applying solder to the top.

    Thank you for the video! Today I actually had to try my best to help a customer with soldering and fixing pipe and I explained to them that I knew nothing about torches and welding but I try my best Google and UA-cam to see if I can help find what they was looking for I don't think I was much help because I've never done this type of work myself I'm grateful for you to show a beginning video and explain what to do and how to do it so that is give me some what of knowledge of what I need to tell my customers when they asked me about soldering and welding. Again I say thank you!

    Great video, I’ve been in the trades for 5 years now and I always find myself putting the press fittings aside and soldering on projects that people can see like boiler work, it always looks cleaner. Plus it’s a great skill to have

    Nice, concise video. Always hated the deburring tool on some pipe cutters. Never thought about using the machinist's type, one of which I already had.

    I just recently started at a vocational highschool, and one of the shops I will be visiting is plumbing. I had no idea what soldering was until he was explaining what we would be doing. I just wanted a head start and this was great explaining and I’m less scared.

      Yeah I was going to say the same thing. I’ve done lots of brazing lately and the process is similar but more forgiving in some ways.
      I’m going to practice pulling the torch away. I think not cleaning my old joints is another issue.
