It was always coming. Sure they could have waited till the end of the season but much like with Spurs, it was always going to be short-lived. Winning the conference league was massive for them but ultimately the amount of resources they put into the project woth the aims of getting into top 4 simply wasnt being met. So if youre gonna have the third highest wage bill in the league Roma are well within their rights to switch the project coz they could do all of this at half the cost with someone else. Like when they had Fonseca etc. So definitely a premature sacking but they were gonna sack him regardless this season if he failed to make top 4 at the end of it.

He gave them their first European trophy and 2 European finals in 2 years. Would have gotten them Champions League football as well if Juve's initial penalty wasn't lifted. He created a quality team with some crazy names that can compete for the top 4 for the next few years. I'm not a Roma fan, but I really like the club and it hurts to see them get rid of Jose. He was the right man for the job and should have gotten a lot more time.

I agree, they should have given him till the end of the season to steer the ship.

I'm late to this discussion but I agree with you. Roma should never have sacked Mourinho. The reality is Roma isn't a rich club and they need to buy quality players & retain them. To do that they need a standout manager & Jose was that person. DeRosi isn't the manager Roma needs. Jose would have asked for more spending budget & perhaps more money for himself. I'd have given him more for himself first off & as much as I could afford to buy players with. I've been a Roma fan since 1980 and Roma is a club that rips your heart out every year & on average gives you one stellar season to enjoy & reminisce about. They care more about derby's than scudetto's which I totally disagree with. I'd lose 10 years' worth of derbies for 5 scudettos or more. Couldn't care less if Lazio wins the next 10,20 derbys but if we win 10 scudetto's it's all gravy. Roma needs to be purchased by an Arab (regrettably) to inject billions into the club so it can buy its way to success like Juve and AC Milan, Inter Milan have done.

Honestly, I was surprised he even got to coach Roma for a third year, I legit thought he was gonna leave at the end of last season. Anyway, it was a marriage it wasn't gonna last much longer. Besides the negative results they got so far in the season (9th in the Serie A, they only won one match against a top team, Napoli; second in the EL group), they play really bad... and I mean BAD. They are by far the worst team to watch in the league, at least among the mid-high clubs. It's like Mou is stuck in the past and hasn't been able to keep up with modern football that much. Sure, he won them the Conference League, a third level trophy, but still a european trophy, but even Fiorentina got close to win it last year, with all due respect.
Now he'll probably go to Saudi and get a humongous paycheck, I don't think he's very suited for european football anymore.
