Rojas a mission specialist & lead on platform/surface crew. She is a banker who volunteered. Unbelievable.

No experience in oceanography or submersible vehicles but is a mission specialist. I guess her experience in a bank made her the best option for being in charge of something she had no idea about.

So I can be a kitchen specialist and cook like an executive chef even though I was told my cooking is vomit. This lady is dumb. I agree when she said innovation always has risks but do it at your own risk for the sake of science like you said. Hate this lady. Crocodile tears

@mando686 She's a rich kid who has dived very few parts of the world as well as a Dick Rush apologist. I would take her testimonies with a grain of salt.

@@ShindlersFiist Ms. Rojas went so far as to describe Titan as the 'Ferrari' of manned submersibles, so I suggest keeping the whole saltshaker handy when she's talking.

Since Rush is dead and apparently is responsible for what happened, what is going to happen when hearings have ended? Is there a living person who could be charged criminally? The company is bankrupt are family members going to sue? Can the engineers who built the damn thing and are now saying they warned Stockton Rush but he wouldn't listen are they liable? Why did they continue to work for him and build it ? Why not quit? I guess Rush did in a weird way provide some research for future building of submersibles , he proved carbon fiber will not work.

Rush must have personal wealth the families can go after.

I would say , they must of had liability insurance on that contraption. Otherwise, everything worth of value Stockton had is up for grabs.

@sammyhooligan803 I figured since it was an experimental craft and the 10 page waiver people had to sign that indemnify Rush or his company from liability insurance didn't exist.

I think it’s possible that the waivers passengers signed could be invalidated if deliberate deception by Oceangate is proven. That would open the doors for criminal and civil charges. Imo, everyone who worked at Oceangate knew of the dangers, the lies and deceptions, for years, and did not warn passengers or report the obvious criminal negligence and frauds to authorities.

Prior to the dive difficulty arose with keeping the Titan horizontal, a problem that was not fixed correctly. Towing the craft exacerbated the problem. The point of failure was the brittle glue connection between the titanium cone and the carbon fibre hull. Even this expedition might have completed successfully. The Titanic was already in sight. However, the craft was descending faster than normal and an error in judgment resulted in the Titan touching the ocean floor sooner than expected and at an angle instead of landing flat on its frame. Even a relatively small jolt would have been sufficient for the epoxy to separate from the titanium ring. Epoxy glue clings tenaciously and it is almost impossible to separate two parts joined together with the application of heat, but in freezing temperatures the brittle substance cracks with ease from even a minor shock. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

They were stumbling and tossing that submersible all over the place. Probably didn't realize the weight when maneuvering it around and with that much neglect, it damaged the "Glue" seal around a thousands pounds of metal and lightweight carbon fiber. 🤔
