@@crudosoyoz We don't have "Paki bashing" in the US. If you went up to a Skinhead in the US and asked them what they think about Paki bashing they wont know what the fuck your talking about. I mean we definitely have racist here, that's a no brainer. Even then, there are some of us that just grew up poor, working class and angry and want something to bash.

This song depicts one color of the whole spectrum that is the skinhead culture. There will always be misguided violence in a revolution. The newfound strength becomes power. Power corrupts, absolute power will absolutely corrupt and so on. The spirit of 69 was coined as a statement and to signify the starting point of a teen movement or a teen revolution if you will. It came to be trough a merge of two cultures which met on the dance floor. Nothing is untrue about that statement. Thats *literally* what happened. Luckily we got SKA to prove it! But as always when a new phenomenon surfaces there will eventually be division. I mean hardmods themselves was the result of a previous division in the mod scene after all, thats just how the cooky crumbles.
This song is critical of Skinhead violence against the Pakistani community but claiming the Spirit of 69 is a romantic myth is a stretch. I’ve known many, many traditional Skinheads and they are vehemently anti-racists. We wouldn’t be listening to Ska, Rocksteady, Soul, and Reggae if we were.
the West Indians were part of the group. they attacked Pakistani Muslims mostly. the track is proof of what went on back then, and "sharps" are just deluded, idiots. there was always prejudice in the scene. also the sharps will deny that skinhead culture started with peanuts, which were essentially working class mods without as much money. yes, later they banded with rude boys this is not being disputed. the fact is though the original skinheads listened to soul music like the impressions. Sharps are deluded and simply pick and chose the history that suits their ideology.
Thanks for efforts.. Cheers from Southern California Skinhead since the early 90s.. Stay Rude, Stay Roots and keep your Boots Stomping!!

Listen to the lyrics: Who do the skinheads bash? 1970 : Claudette reporting the news as it happened. The spirit of '69 is a romantic myth.

People are clinging on to that they werent racist against the West indians. But it is a bit of double standard yes.
@@Millwall77 Lol skins fought everyone, not just pakistanis. Were some skins racists? Yes. But most wasnt.

Skinhead music was holding hands with reggae and ska..it had nothing to do with skin colour. The racist left scared us..
Lol. "The racist left."
Fuck off coward.
Stephen Wilson: Listen to the lyrics. You'll find the truth. The romantic notion of the spirit of 69 is a myth.
