  • Lake District Pike Fishing - Part 3
    Join me as I have one last crack at pike fishing. March 2019 This time I head out for a change of scenary to a new water in the beautiful Lake District National Park. With no idea of where the pike are, you follow me warts an' all, as i try to catch one last pike. In the previous episodes, i managed to catch my first pike so now it's time to get a better one.

      thanks Gerry. I enjoy this type of fishing, out in the middle of nowhere and stunning scenery. If you haven't seen them, check out my Sweden pike fishing videos, some great surroundings and cool footage too.

    Really helpful video on how to cover such large expanses of water. Will be sure to put it into practice.

      cheers bud glad it gives you something to think about. There's other ways also. Easiest way is to know the spots before you fish them but thats not really my kind of thing i just like to work it all out for myself.

    Have you ever seen or heard of reports/sightings of any carp or catfish in any of the big lakes like windermere, conniston, ullswater etc?

      yeah can't wait mate. We go in june for the first trip it's going to be ace. Would love to do canada one day myself, always wanted to. You should sort yourself a trip out, go do it!

      River Piker Sweden looks a lot like fishing in Canada, Canada and Alaska have a lot of limited access fly in only lakes that only see a hand full of anglers a year due to 10 months of winter but if you go at the right time it can be a trip of a lifetime.

    Really enjoyed your videos I am just begging getting gear together so a bit late this season. Can you suggest some lures to start with for feb and early March I am awaiting delivery of a 60 Tp 100gram agitator set up many thanks

    • @riverpiker
      @riverpiker  5 місяців тому

      Good to hear mate. Something different up tomorrow night, still pike fishing of course 👍
      Just get a bit of variety. I’m not too fussed on what the lures are as long as they are all different. Something like a Westin swim or buster jerk bait, get a decent paddle tail lure like a fox replicant or maybe a svartzonker mcrubber like Neil was using. A curly tail lure like westin bullteez or rapala otus and try to keep it light so you can slowly work it back. Try and mix up the sizes and also the colours and you’ve got a decent variety there. Then pick out something you like the look of and maybe a swim bait like the savage gear lures.

    It's hard work fishing lures in a water where people have caught 50lb bags of roach!

    Good video..just changed over to pike fishing from carp start of April and I currently only canal fishing in Leeds..I m using 20lb braid but reference the trace,should it be less or more..ie I'm using a 16lb trace. been informed I should be using 20lb..I'm using a light,medium setup..many thanks..

    • @riverpiker
      @riverpiker  5 років тому

      Hi mate. Ideally very similar. No point having one stong and one weak. If you have a weaker trace, then on a snag you would snap the trace and lose the lure. If the line is weaker you would snap above trace, still lose lure but potentially lose some line. However, what often happens is if you have similar breaking strain wire and braid, is that it breaks at the knot. I use palomar knot for my braid to swivel.

      Thanks..makes sense thinking about it..I just watched ur previous video on how to tie the Palomar..and am certainly going to using that from no on..a huge difference from carp fishing I'm..I'm slowly learning..but seems as a beginner In pike fishing..I'm finding it best to keep it simple..Many thanks for the hint..

    • @riverpiker
      @riverpiker  5 років тому

      Definitley mate, simple is great. If you are learning that's good and in time you pick up more info, new ideas, techniques and more. But you can't beat location so just get out and see what is about. Have fun buddy.
