I’ve had to use my partners phone to leave a comment! I watch every video on both channels in my Xbox 1. I’m 32 years old and I haven’t been fishing since the 28th of august for my birthday. My gear is basically gone as I had to live all my gear outside to fit my two children’s toys… your fishing channel and videos always make me smile and allow me a moment to remember how much I love fishing. Hi! Our pike season normally runs October till end of February in the UK. We tend to find pike are catchable all through the year, but fishing with dead baits in summer can lead to deep hooked fish as they’re so hungry. Also, low oxygen in summer means you’ve gotta put the fish back REALLY quickly to avoid harming it. But officially, we don’t have a legal pike season - it’s up to the angler or fishing club to control it and respect the fish.

the into "what a hook set" ... why strike so hard man, thought you liked fish
He had monofilament line on his spool, so it has lots of stretch. You need to strike quite firmly as the mono is springy and not much of the tightening is transmitted down to the hooks. Pike have very hard bony mouths so to get the hooks in can be tricky without braid! A softer strike will result in losing a lot of fish when pike fishing, of course it’s totally different though when fishing for soft lipped fish like carp, roach or bream!

Pike have very hard mouths and if you don’t strike the bait off, you end up losing many many fish. :)
@@more_fishwithcarl , I have been fishing for 30 years and I have never had a problem with hooking a pike, regardless of whether I was fishing with spinning, dead fish or live fish....

Why u guys scared off using casting reels
For spinning, a spinning reel works fine! And when I’m bait fishing, the freespool/ baitrunner function is very helpful. Baitcasters don’t have the same feature, but for sure if I was pitching/flipping I’d be using a casting reel. On my bass trips to USA we exclusively used baitcasters for all the top water and jig fishing.

Iv got a private lake to fish fished lots and only had tons of small carp what’s your advice on trying to catch the bigger fish Iv seen. Iv tried everything lol but can’t get them?

Never change, Carl! Your video's just fill me with laughter, smiles and are just very relatable! I love how even when you're out on a walk you see water and instantly want to see fish. I go to a local park with my wife and children that we have memberships for and at the entrance the river Trent flows under a bridge and I can't help but get lost in wonder of what lurks in there. I often see trout there.
