  • Picked up a Double Bell VSR-10 and decided to take it apart.
    This is my first "high-grade" Airsoft Sniper Rifle so I don't know much about it beyond operation and maintenance.
    The Double Bell VSR-10 only comes with one 30-round magazine and a speed-loader.
    The scope, bipod, and Maple Leaf AUTOBOT 60 Hop Bucking are all optional parts that we installed after purchase.

      For the VSR-10, the Hop-Up adjustment is on the left side of the barrel, past the cylinder assembly, and just above the stock section where the magazine well aligns.
      It's a tiny lever that you move forward and backward to adjust Hop-Up.

      The Bipod I used is a Harris Type and I purchased it from Tuks' Shop.
      It was the best looking bipod on display and it only came in a plastic bag so I don't know what brand it is.
      Forgot the price, maybe PHP 1500-2000, but got it with a discount because I also bought the Scope and a couple bags of 0.3s that day.

      If the Piston locks and the spring holds, then your sear is fine, so check that your Safety is off, the bolt is back to the start and all the way down, and make sure that nothing is stuck behind the trigger.
      If the piston doesn't catch and the bolt goes back with force, you have a broken spring stop and you'll need to replace the entire sear/trigger assembly.
      If everything works but the trigger won't pull even with the safety off, disassemble the VSR-10, to separate the trigger assembly and check if the adjustable screws located directly behind the trigger wasn't tightened all the way because that adjusts the trigger movement.

      @@haringduga4026 thank you so much! Trigger assembly it is! 😁 what usually causes this failure? I had upgraded the spring previously?

    • @haringduga4026
      @haringduga4026  Рік тому +1

      Very likely the sear couldn't handle the stronger spring so you'll need to upgrade to one that can.
      Not all models come with notes on what limit the stock parts can handle, so it's common to upgrade both spring and sear so they don't destroy each other.

    hello I just recently installed the edgi kit on my dbell vsr 10 however the groupings are terrible, I still use the stock spring and bucking tho since the m220 spring is hard af to rack

    • @haringduga4026
      @haringduga4026  2 роки тому +1

      Supposedly groupings will improve with a 6.01 inner barrel, upgraded hop-bucking, and .04 or heavier BBs.
      I haven't been able to get the right length 6.01 for my DB VSR-10 so I can't confirm any performance change.
      For the teflon fix, simply use a layer or two of teflon tape anywhere there's a separation along the air way like the piston nozzle screw and the gap between the inner barrel and the hop-bucking.

    • @haringduga4026

      The Autobot bucking should improve grouping and increase FPS by 8-12, but if you already have a 5.98 installed and the grouping is as wide as the stock inner barrel, then it might need a hop chamber upgrade to control the BB spin.
      I use the stock spring, stock inner barrel, the Autobot 70, and 0.3g BBs and I get fliers every few shots.

    Hey I really need help, I've done everything perfectly up to 2:55, but when I try to slide the barrel bit of it just won't come off, I've tried twisting it and everything but that thing is STUCK in there, I've got it to move like an inch but it's killing my hands and incredibly hard to move, have I done something wrong?

    • @haringduga4026
      @haringduga4026  Рік тому +1

      Try to check for a hidden screw inside the stock mounting hole to the left of where I undid the last screw for the barrel - sometimes a different month/year release of the same model has an added feature like an extra screw.
      If you can't rotate the barrel around it means the screws are still biting and holding the barrel back, so loosen the screws a bit more or remove them completely in case the barrel housing is still catching on it.
      At 3:02 you can see the barrel on mine is at least straight and flat - yours might be getting stuck because of a warp or something standing out on the end so try a couple drops of oil and see if you can rotate the barrel around like in 2:58.
      Last tip I can suggest, after completely removing all involved screws and adding oil... ask a friend to pull at the barrel while you pull on the spring housing. Might just need some brute force, but be ready with a metal file to flatten any warps when the barrel is out.

    Sir yung dd vsr 10 ko hirap pag release ng magazine. Ano po kaya pwede gawin para maayos sya?

    • @haringduga4026
      @haringduga4026  3 роки тому

      Most common reason for magazine snagging is brand/model mismatch. There are VSR-10 Magazines that are made by 3rd party companies that are slightly wider/longer - ideally you always buy the same brand Airsoft and Magazines. If the brands match or the airsoft shop says the mag is compatible, try the following fixes:
      Check the release button - if it doesn't work, you need to disassemble the VSR's to get to the mag release switch's screws. Problems include broken spring, mag catch installed upside-down or being too long.
      If the mag catch button is working, check if the magazine snags when being inserted: this indicates a mismatch between the magazine and the magazine well - either sand the sides of the magazine or the inside of the magazine well gradually until the magazine slides in smoothly.
      If the magazine slides inside without issues but snags on the way out and the mag release button works, check the back portion of the magazine for any protruding plastic parts and sand/cut off. Also check the BB-Loading portion of the magazine for any protruding plastic and sand as needed.

      @haringduga4026  3 роки тому +1

      The bipod I got didn't need a rail - it came with a long screw and a small extending tube that just replaces one of the screws for the stock.
      The bipod plate sits right under the stock, and the screw it comes with is longer than it needs to be to fit on different models, so it comes with two small metal tubes that are like straws cut to two lengths.
      Once the bipod is on the stock, you chose one of the two tubes to slide on the screw so that the tube goes between the screw head and the bipod plate to lock the bipod against the stock.
      I got it at Tuk's Shop for about Php 1,200.

    • @haringduga4026

      First thing to check is the Hop-Up Bucking. It may need to be replaced. When the Hop-Up isn't engaged enough, it doesn't hold the BB in so you won't get the best air-seal which leads to low FPS.
      You can also do a Piston Test like in the video at 7:52 and see if the piston slams instead of being stopped by the trapped air. If the Piston slams, there's a leak in the cylinder. For a Cylinder leak, either the nozzle or the piston (or both) need a new O-Ring.

    • @haringduga4026
      @haringduga4026  5 років тому

      After about 300+ shots, I lost piston air seal so I checked and the problem was the o-ring. I stretched it a bit and got the seal back, but it's one part that might need replacing at some point. I'm planning to buy spare piston o-rings for the long run.
      I also solved the problem with the hop-up arm sliding after 10 shots - the arm uses a small spring and peg to "click" along the chamber's serrations and you can either stretch the spring out, or do what I did which was put a tiny spec of crumpled tissue paper behind the spring. Now it clicks nicely and the hop-up doesn't change.
      No noticeable wear or damage between the piston and sear for now, but I do think the cylinder is over-greased out of the box. The clumped specks might have caused the o-ring to shrink between shots. I also needed to clean out the inner barrel because the grease from the cylinder eventually gets pushed in from firing.
      Haven't had a mag jam or feeding issues; no wobble between the stock and barrel... and the trigger still feels the same since day-1.

      Here's the thing...
      Because of the way it's built and what it can do... I can't recommend this particular airsoft spring rifle to absolute beginners. This rifle should go to experienced players and people with a basic grasp of airsoft safety and maintenance.
      This thing shoots at a high FPS out of the box and won't easily break - that's not a good thing to put in the hands of a child or someone that hasn't learned the consequences of hitting something or someone not meant to be shot with BBs at this FPS.
      But if you understand the dangers and responsibility that comes with airsoft, and you REALLY can't get your hands on a Tokyo Marui, this is a pretty sweet VSR-10 to have.

    • @haringduga4026
      @haringduga4026  6 років тому

      It's a straight Clone of the TM, so VSR-10 parts should be compatible, although I haven't had to change anything besides the hop bucking yet since we got it shooting at local field-FPS limits and the accuracy is as expected of the regular 6.05 inner-barrel.
      I'm planning to change to a precision 6.01 barrel once the spring has settled and lost 10 FPS, which the tighter barrel should compensate for. And maybe a better hop-up system because the hop-up lever on mine moves after 5 shots.

      I checked inside and the piston head goes into the hop-bucking neatly, so it's possible the piston head needs more teflon tape.
      The nozzle inserts about 5mm into the bucking and the Maple Leafs comes with a metal seal ring for the bucking-to-barrel end.
      It's also possible the stock 6.05 inner barrel is wasting air which is why I want to change it to a 6.01 when possible.

      @haringduga4026  5 років тому +1

      For internals, VSR-10 Parts and Upgrades should work because this is a TM Clone.
      If you want to upgrade the trigger, you'll likely need to also change out the piston because the piston inside the Double Bell has a 45-degree catch.
      The only part of the Double Bell that I've heard that doesn't match with the JG is the stock. If you want to put a JG stock on a Double Bell, you'll need to modify the JG stock.

      Out of the box, the Double Bell VSR-10 shoots 430fps. The internals are metal, and not the cheap kind like in older China Clones. Mine is almost a year old, with over 800 shots and nothing's broken yet.
      We got my DB VSR-10 shooting 480fps just by upgrading the hop bucking, so if you just need 450 all you'd need to do is wrap teflon tape where the bucking and inner-barrel meet. That should give you 450fps with .2g

      You can check with an Airsoft shop or Airsoft Forums with regards to upgrades. I have no experience tuning a VSR-10 and the only upgrade we made to this Double Bell is replacing the stock Hop-up Bucking with a Maple Leaf 60-degree Autobot.
      You'll have to check forums about springs since I don't know much about Springs/FPS rates. For hop-up assembly, there are a couple brands that are VSR-10 compatible; the only one I keep hearing about is the Action Army Hop-Up Chamber.
      As far as barrel is concerned, all I know is I want to upgrade to a tight bore 6.01 to improve accuracy and to compensate for the FPS drop when the stock spring has settled.
