The new Nova 850R diving light delivers intense illumination, ideal for lighting up the dark spaces and bringing out the vibrant colors on night dives as well as day dives. So if you are not videoing, get the spot one? Also, after attaching the lanyard to the BCD, does the torch just float around in the water or is it mounted somehow? thanks.
HI,
If not using for video then you can get the spot beam. if you attach to bcd with lanyard via a clip then it hangs in the water, you can get extra pockets for you BCd if you want to put torch away. (depends what BCD you have)
Thanks for the video. How long does it take to charge the battery and does charger red light turn green when the battery is full?
HI Jakob, these torches are sold Excl batteries and chargers, so in terms of batteries and charging this would depend on what battery and charger you buy for the torch.

I'm glad you pointed out you have to press it five times to turn on, that seams daft i'll look elsewhere. Thanks you saved me from buying a lemon.
you don't click it 5 times to turn it on; you do that to unlock it. Then you hold the button ONCE to turn it on or off.

You didn't demonstrate how to open it to charge the battery
can the torch be used for a long time outside the water? like hiking in the mountains?
This unit is not ideal for our of water use as it burns very hot, so if being used for a hike at night the torch we just over heat. It burns very bright for underwater use and the water cools the torch casing, out of the water it will get too hot and degrade the battery life. (You can use it for short periods, like a few mins searching through your tent) But not ideal for long term use out of water.
yes, and you can use your flippers for running a marathon too.
