John Motson's commentary is GOLDEN! I got goosebumps when he said "Beckham?" as he hit the ball but even more so when he shouted "Yes!" when the ball hit the net.
Truly one of the greatest international goals of all time. The significance of the goal in terms of qualification, Beckham's redemption in the eyes of the England fans, the actual free kick itself. Great stuff. Moments like this are why I love football.

This is high praise indeed as Messi is the best dribbler, passer, scorer, playmaker ever. John Motson wasn’t the most lyrical commentator, but he had the best instrument in the business and he knew how to play it. This is his finest moment I say. His voice perfectly matches the trajectory of that ball from Beckham’s foot into the net, and then expertly rides the ecstasy of the celebrations. He played a central role in some of the most treasured memories of multiple generations. What a legacy. RIP Motty.
One of those rare moments in football where you remember exactly where you were and who you were with. What a moment, nothing will ever beat the late 90s to early 00s for me, the prem and the national team were very exciting.
As much as I love a knuckle ball free kick, to me Beckham’s free kicks were the most satisfying to watch. No one could bend one in like him. His right foot was capable of the most amazing things. He didn’t need pace and he didn’t need to beat his man, his crosses and delivery from dead ball situations made him one of the greatest of all time.
He was a brilliant passer of the ball as well. Overrated by the ones who didn't know anything about football because of the looks and Underrated by football fans for the very same reason.
@@talhabaloglu5527 that’s a great way to put it. Players like Roy Keane always put him in their greatest teams because of his work rate, the way he trained and his passing and crossing ability.
