- Ban Ki-moon and the Israeli government are at odds after the United Nations secretary-general criticised the Israeli occupation in an address to the Security Council last week.
Ban said it was "human nature" for Palestinians to react to the occupation, specifically pointing to settlement building as a "provocative" action. The remarks elicited strong criticism from the Israeli government, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accusing the UN chief of "encouraging terror".
In this week's UpFront, Mehdi Hasan speaks to Tzipi Hotovely, Israel's deputy foreign minister, the country's top diplomat, about Ban's remarks.
The Reality Check points to US President Barack Obama's national security record as proof that despite many criticisms, he is more of a hawk than a dove.
In Arena, we ask a senior political adviser to the Syrian opposition about the collapse of UN-sponsored talks and what it will take to bring peace to the country.

Maybe if your country didn't occupy their country, they would't attack them. If I stationed myself and took over another persons home, I would expect them to attack me on a daily basis.
Occupying and oppressing another people will always be answered with resistance. If America was occupied tomorrow by another nation and its people treated like 3rd class citizens can any American say they would not resist their oppressor. I think we all know the answer and the answer is true with any people.

You can watch all the UpFront episodes eachtime an Israeli diplomate is invited, they just can't stop talking interrupting change the subject, in over 30 questions in this interview 20 of them were answered by aren't Palestinian this or that, ISIS is rising in the middle east, and the one that made me laugh Israel is a democracy

After viewing tons of videos about the so-called two state solutions, my analysis is neither side is sincere about achieving a two state solution and live in peace, side by side. What Israel wanted is to buy time with negotiations, and eliminate as much of Palestinians from West bank and Gaza. On the other side, what Palestinian intention is to achieve a statehood and get UNSC approval without any clear borders and make international deals and agreements with petrodollars pouring in from rich Arab emirates, get arms including nuclear weapons from Iran, Pakistan, North Korea, and strike on Israel and eliminate Israel from the face of the earth once and for all, get back Palestine, establish an Islamic caliphate, make sharia law as their constitution etc etc. In another words one side want the other side to be killed!!
