It was nice running into you. To bad you missed the Gaming Historian, he was there too. I talked to him briefly. Also the Angry Video Game Nerd was there, but the line to reach him was always really long.
All of you should team up and do an avengers-esk episode also would be a good idea to photo shop your faces on the end game poster. Would be a really cool shirt.... lol
Hey, I know you probably hear this often but I really appreciate the positive energy you bring to all of your videos. Sometimes when I have a bad day, I watch one of your videos to lift me up. So thank you.
Flea Market Madness is fun and totally enjoyable, Podcasts not so much. I wish Pat would dump that Let's Play idea since it's been done by James and Mike numerous times already (they actually do it better). Pat should challenge other gamers and losers have to do something as punishment. I would love to see Pat's face everytime he loses :)
My dad, who is an electrical engineer for chevron, while listening to me watch your show from the other room yells out "That guy you're watching sounds like an engineer. I can tell by all the bad jokes he's making"
2 minutes in, and already there's the 8-bit Guy meeting with Ben Heck. That to me is like the Ninja Turtles and the Power Rangers meeting for the first time
Favorite episode ever. I've been following all the people you interviewed for a while now so it was great to see you interacting with them "in the wild". The part with LGR was so good, Throne of Games, hahaha. Also, the Jurassic Park song made me remember Swiss Army Man, great movie. Go watch it if you haven't yet.
I just watched Swiss Army Man and was texting Ben the whole time. I keep telling him he needs to watch it because of all the Jurassic Park theme references.
I've been a car audio installer for over 30 years. The shop had big cardboard boxes full of Sony CD players. They were notorious for their laser tracking disc read errors. Driving over a reflector in the road would make the disc stop playing.
I was so excited to see nearly all of my favorite UA-cam stars on here! I kept waiting to see if Mark from CGR was going to show up. Ah man I'd love to see more collaborations with all of you guys!
Ben, you are the only other person I've ever heard speak of funcoland. I want to say that Funcoland is what got me into electronics/gaming/computers back in the early 90's
This was my favorite episode of yours since the classic console laptop ones! The tour report was really good and the interviews with other youtubers were really fun!
Crazy the amount of Famicom stuff. I have around 100 Famicom and a few Super Famicom carts. My Famicom console stopped working a few years ago. Wish I can get a new one cheap.
this is the coolest episode! Ben and lgr hanging out and talking! you guys should do some videos together. you're both great and two of my favorite channels! very cool. this was the ultimate crossover episode. thanks a ton for it, you made my week. :)
Glad you were able to post this up, I wasn't able to get to your panel about the update. Also hope you liked Ground Kontrol, hopefully next year they'll open up their bigger place
I didn't understand the gold hammer reference until I googled it. Fix-it Felix from Wreck-it Ralph. I always wanted to see Ben Heck do something with MetalJesus since he got the N64DD and Ben did great videos about the SNES PlayStation. I also wanted to see Ben Heck do something with the 8bit guy since Dave always tries keyboards and Ben created that Atari one. The only way for this video to be more epic would be if: 1. He met James Rolfe. 2. It had more Karen and Felix. Haha! You can see from this video that Ben is very down to earth and a cool guy. What was the clip "'I want to live in a world with Star Wars again"'?
Ben, have you attempted pulling audio out of the FRONT of the CD-ROM drive on its built-in headphone jack? I plugged in a pair of headphones at the Settle Retro Game Expo and was surprised to hear SNES audio coming out of it (I expected only CD-DA).
All my favorite youtubers in one place made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Sorry to hear you got Road Rash though Ben, hope you're feeling better now.
Hey! That famicom you picked up was the one I bought. By sunday, it was the only one left, poor ol guy sitting there with no eject slider. I was sooo happy to give it a home. I never saw you there, and I was there all weekend working and browsing. It would have been a pleasure to meet you! I did meet 8 bit guy though!
Was at the expo myself. I actually remember walking into the Video Game Museum while you and Clint were taking a picture together. Was awesome. Only thing missing at the convention was that Joust Pinball Machine from 2015.
What's that monitor at 28:20 ?? Looks 4:3, has a really thin frame and I can see scanlines! Any info on that? Although just a few seconds, it looks like the ultimate retro gaming monitor!
Everdry The AVS NES outputs 720p via HDMI and has a few pixel options + scanlines, so I think that you'll just have to find a new TV with a tiny bezel. :) I know Retro RGB has a great video on it.
To answer the random guy asking about Soundgarden, it was the Road Rash for PlayStation, and the 3DO (also other CD based systems and Windows), that had them on the soundtrack. It was one of the first games to have an actual soundtrack by musicians (and good ones, at that!).
All my UA-cam subscriptions are here! MetalJesusRocks, Satoshi Matrix, Ben Heck, Pat The NES Punk, The 8-Bit Guy. Looks like Thanksgiving came a little early this year.
Ben, why aren't you using the correct audio and video cable from the original Playstation? I had problems back in the day with audio not using the right cable.
I happen to remember hearing something about a demo disc with a whole bunch of unrecognizable data from the very early PlayStation wonder if that could be connected
lol the 8" disk drive was used as a plot point in a White Collar episode "Uncontrolled Variables". "Looks like I brought a lightsaber to a knife fight" ... xD
the master system only failed relatively in North America but if you do your research it actually outsold the rest when worldwide figures are brought into play especially south America ;)
I'm only 25 so my nostalgia for video games is primarily centered around gameboy color, but my dad owned a saga master system which was technically the only video game console i played for a good chunk of my early childhood so I had fun showing off the master system emulator I installed on my tablet to my family. I can't imagine spending money on that nostalgia though since prices are all jacked up and the hardware is dilapidated at best.
When I heard you were on the hunt for Road Rash it made me smile a bit. I love that game. I prefer the second one but they both have a place in my heart. Road Rash 2 is my favourite retro game.
I love how much Pat has been advertising that book anywhere he can haha... I guess if I spent two years of my life on a book I'd show it off too I got the book myself and it's surprisingly awesome... most kickstarter books in my experience are crappy paper and such, but this thing is a beast with durable glossy pages and full color.
Did you try using cartridges from different regions in that PlayStation Prototype? I have a feeling that this disc unit may only boot if it detects the appropriate region lock-out chip in an SNES/ Famicom cart. Or maybe the system requires a special lockout cartridge?
Loved seeing Ben talk to Metal Jesus, the 8-bit guy and LGR. Pat the NES punk looks like a subscription I should have done a long time ago as well. For some reason though, I get the impression that Ben and Metal Jesus could talk for hours, and it'd be cool just to listen in. Great video!
ive been going to the portland retro gaming expo every year for the past 7 years, and its amazing how much bigger its gotten. the first few years i went it was held in a few different hotels, and its cool how the last 3 or so years its been held at the expo center, and every year its just gets bigger. its also really weird to see people from youtube just walking around. James Rolfe was the only one I've really tried to talk to, but he was being sort of mobbed my people. i still got a picture and he signed my boxed top gun second mission though
21:48 - This reminds me when Killer Instinct had come with an audio soundtrack. I wonder if this was the original intention of releasing the game that way.
On UA-cam shows like this and others, on older episodes I always see these 'revision 3' watermarks. I know what revision 3 is, but I have no idea why all the shows lost the watermarks. can anybody please explain this?
16:47 - I actually came across a copy of Pinball recently that had one! (an even easier way to tell if you have one is shine a flashlight on the gold contact pins... if the tiny pin is off to one side and not in the middle, pretty good chance there's one in there.) and to the disembodied voice at the end of the Road Rash clip, that was the 3DO version (although it didn't have any of that audio in game, it was primarily in the menus and stuff.) But here's hoping you get another crack at the SNES Playstation, third time is the charm? I do at least watch all of the video game related-videos here, those are my jam. :P
Great expo as usual. I was there and went to 8-Bit guy's panel along with MJR's and others including Ben's Playstation update panel. I was near the front holding a GoPro camera nearly the entire time. I saw that Odyssey System as well and if I had more of a disposable income, I may have bought it. Fun fact, Ben bought about 20 Atari systems from me long, long ago back in about 2005 when I used to have an online shop called Vintage Fun World before I went back to school to study animation. I thought about introducing myself, but I can be pretty socially awkward. Was wondering if you checked out any of the demos at AtariAge? I had a game on demo there called Robot Zed and in the past I made Princess Rescue and Zippy the Porcupine.
If I had known Ben was at the expo I would've stuck around longer. He should have had a panel or something. Funny thing is I have a copy of the road rash he wants.
Ben did you say your from Wisconsin? I'm from Michigan, we are close to your state. We consider going to Wisconsin a spring vacation or a shopping trip lol.
What about modding a Phillips DCC900 to allow you to save computer games as PASC data and to reload the games as the the head uses is actually a 9 track tape head, never never look at the laser when it is on as you will lose your eye sight.
Thanks for talking with me, Ben! Was just awesome to finally meet you, I've enjoyed your work for years :)
It was epic watching a video with both together :D Maybe some crossover collab in the future? :D
an abomination in woodgrain
I'll be keeping an eye out for that AOL tech-tales :)
LGR 13:17 "Wall interview."
It was nice running into you. To bad you missed the Gaming Historian, he was there too. I talked to him briefly. Also the Angry Video Game Nerd was there, but the line to reach him was always really long.
That would had been the retrogame community's Avengers.
The 8-Bit Guy great chanel but untuck that t-shirt man lol
Lol david i didn't know you are watching their videos
i expected pat to talk about the avgn
All of you should team up and do an avengers-esk episode also would be a good idea to photo shop your faces on the end game poster. Would be a really cool shirt.... lol
It was cool meeting you at PRGE. Thanks for the interview!
Hey, I know you probably hear this often but I really appreciate the positive energy you bring to all of your videos. Sometimes when I have a bad day, I watch one of your videos to lift me up. So thank you.
you look so tall next to ben!!!!!!!
Ben, I applaud you for somehow editing our conversation into something useful for the video! :)
Pat, get back back to making quality podcasts with Ian so I have somebody to drink with while bitching about the most mundane of topics.
Pat the NES Punk the podcasts are hard to watch. I miss flea market madness.
Pat makes any video better.
you did not talk about the angry video game nerd
My dad, who is an electrical engineer for chevron, while listening to me watch your show from the other room yells out "That guy you're watching sounds like an engineer. I can tell by all the bad jokes he's making"
Father AxeKeeper so your saying that all engineers tell bad jokes.
SamuraiVader
they tend to have a bad sense of humor haha.
Father AxeKeeper haha
@13:20 is that kid interviewing the wall?
Apparently :D
Looked like he was checking the mic, testing 123 testing. XD
yeah that was very odd
He looks a little nervous, and his camera man was very young, probably school project. It's tuff when your that young.
Maybe planning to add an animated character to be interviewed.
2 minutes in, and already there's the 8-bit Guy meeting with Ben Heck.
That to me is like the Ninja Turtles and the Power Rangers meeting for the first time
who's 8 bit guy?
Ben explains in the video
Favorite episode ever. I've been following all the people you interviewed for a while now so it was great to see you interacting with them "in the wild". The part with LGR was so good, Throne of Games, hahaha. Also, the Jurassic Park song made me remember Swiss Army Man, great movie. Go watch it if you haven't yet.
I just watched Swiss Army Man and was texting Ben the whole time. I keep telling him he needs to watch it because of all the Jurassic Park theme references.
I laughed so hard during that part, what a weirdly awesome movie.
I was slightly disturbed. I'm becoming convinced that the Jurassic Park theme is haunting me and Ben and Max are to blame.
I absolutely love these Nintendo PlayStation videos. Keep up the good work!
I've been a car audio installer for over 30 years. The shop had big cardboard boxes full of Sony CD players. They were notorious for their laser tracking disc read errors. Driving over a reflector in the road would make the disc stop playing.
Ben Heck and the 8-Bit Guy! PLEASE COLLABORATE! I watch both of you guys all the time.
Make it happen ben :D
+KaienSander10 They may with the keyboard Ben made.
Little do you know... that's already in the works!
SPOILERS! Nah just kidding, good to hear it.
And.... now I have Vanilla Ice stuck in my head. lol
I was so excited to see nearly all of my favorite UA-cam stars on here! I kept waiting to see if Mark from CGR was going to show up. Ah man I'd love to see more collaborations with all of you guys!
Wow, this really is a great episode, with all the famous UA-camrs and games. A tech repair session with some entertainment around it, awesome job!
Wow, wasn't expecting to see Clint from LGR in a Ben Heck video, but I'm sure glad he's there - his channel is so well done. He does great stuff
Thanks, that makes me happy to hear.
stryk187 lol me neither, most of the people in the thumbnail i wasn't expecting to see
it's like you interviewed my entire subscription list
Ben, you are the only other person I've ever heard speak of funcoland. I want to say that Funcoland is what got me into electronics/gaming/computers back in the early 90's
At 13:19, what is up with the kid interviewing the wall?
He didn't even give the wall a chance to respond. He just kept pulling the microphone back...
This was my favorite episode of yours since the classic console laptop ones! The tour report was really good and the interviews with other youtubers were really fun!
At 13:20, is the guy in the background interviewing the wall?
Man, love all three of those guys! So happy you had 8-bit, LGR and MJR! 3 of my favourite uploaders.
8 bit guy, LGR, MJR, and Pat?
all you need is techmoan
Nick Kromer But he's thousands of miles away
He lives on the other side of the pond, but it would be awesome though.
and ian!
AVGN too.
Crazy the amount of Famicom stuff. I have around 100 Famicom and a few Super Famicom carts. My Famicom console stopped working a few years ago. Wish I can get a new one cheap.

Too cool! I saw you from a distance at PRGE but I was stuck behind my booth. Next time, for sure.
I was wondering if he was going to run in to you.
13:21 lol the guy interviewing the wall
the 3rd potentiometer might be for the laser focusing.
13:20 LMAO at the guy who interviewed the wall
I'm kind of disappointed my Super Boss Gaiden didn't work, it was my key to internet fame and glory, now it's just a fancy looking drink coaster
Nice to see the 8 bit Guy, LGR and Pat in there!
LOL , That guy interviewing the wall at 13:25
Roxette's Joyride, what a great choice to play! :)
Glad you were able to post this up, I wasn't able to get to your panel about the update. Also hope you liked Ground Kontrol, hopefully next year they'll open up their bigger place
I love these people, great to see electronics and gaming enthusiasts all at the same place
That kid in the background interviewing the wall 😂
I didn't understand the gold hammer reference until I googled it. Fix-it Felix from Wreck-it Ralph.
I always wanted to see Ben Heck do something with MetalJesus since he got the N64DD and Ben did great videos about the SNES PlayStation.

great video Ben! when are we gonna see a teardown of the ps4 pro?
Patience, you must have.
+The Ben Heck Show May the patience be with you!
+The Ben Heck Show
For my diode has the force, and a powerful diode it is.
Awesome work! Can hardly wait for the next nintendo playstation update!
Also awesome to see LGR, 8-bit guy and MJR!!
“If I put all the screws in, it won’t work.” Truer words have never been spoken.
Was at the expo myself. I actually remember walking into the Video Game Museum while you and Clint were taking a picture together. Was awesome. Only thing missing at the convention was that Joust Pinball Machine from 2015.

thegirlg33k correct but that monitor didn't look widescreen, must have been true 4:3! I'd totally but a "square" flatscreen for retro gaming! :D
@13:20 kid in the background interviews the wall lol
Wow, I didn't even notice that. I was watching Ben and Clint...
It was me. It's in my PRGE video.
kinda makes me wonder if there is a special cartridge that allows function to the CD drive
I have a suggestion for a series of videos. Recreate the prototype "Boomerang" PS3 Controller shown at the PS3 Unveil.
StoreBrand I need to know how this thing would have felt in the hand. Who knows, maybe it was comfortable in it's own weird way?
StoreBrand yeah I'd love this.
Seeing Ben Heck interview LGR was awesome, both are my favourite UA-camrs.
my life is complete. 8-bit guy, lgr, metal Jesus, Pat the NES punk, and Ben heck all together
The Metal Jesus AND Ben!?!?! This is my favorite thing ever.
from doing work on the original PlayStation 1 with the AV ports on the side isn't the third potentiometer the focus of the laser
To answer the random guy asking about Soundgarden, it was the Road Rash for PlayStation, and the 3DO (also other CD based systems and Windows), that had them on the soundtrack. It was one of the first games to have an actual soundtrack by musicians (and good ones, at that!).

Ben, were you able to try the "multi out" port on the Nintendo Playstation? Maybe some how the CD audio is wired through that port? Just a guess.
Ben, why aren't you using the correct audio and video cable from the original Playstation? I had problems back in the day with audio not using the right cable.
I collected AOL cds, too. I had planned to stick them to the wall behind my stereo.
I happen to remember hearing something about a demo disc with a whole bunch of unrecognizable data from the very early PlayStation wonder if that could be connected
lol the 8" disk drive was used as a plot point in a White Collar episode "Uncontrolled Variables". "Looks like I brought a lightsaber to a knife fight" ... xD
Pat the nes punk appears... and carries his HUGE book again. Never change xD
War Horse should totally be on iTunes.
"He's Crazy Horse's Brother, though they had a different mother. War Horssseee."
Do you need a work DAC to homebrew? Maybe the disc needs to be burned differently
Man, I watch all these youtubers. Such a good bunch of content creators.
the master system only failed relatively in North America but if you do your research it actually outsold the rest when worldwide figures are brought into play especially south America ;)

I worked at Iomega on both the Zip and Jaz drives and media in the 90's
Nice taste in UA-camrs. Also great to see you met with MetalJesusRocks.
This video is great! Love the interviews, my favourite channels. Nice balance between everything and great editing.
I love how much Pat has been advertising that book anywhere he can haha... I guess if I spent two years of my life on a book I'd show it off too
I got the book myself and it's surprisingly awesome... most kickstarter books in my experience are crappy paper and such, but this thing is a beast with durable glossy pages and full color.

Or maybe the system requires a special lockout cartridge?
awesome shout-out for the 8-bit guy, he has some quality videos
I'm visiting Seattle in the summer to see my family. I wonder if I'll find anything...
awesome video Ben!! I watch all the other UA-camrs you interviewed! Can't wait for you to get the Nintendo Playstation working. The saga continues...
Oh my God, even in someone else's video Pat still found a way to bring up a certain Nes guide book.
My favorite UA-cam Content creators in one video.... mind BLOWN
8 Bit Guy, LGR and Ben Heck in one Video, oh what a lucky day.
ive been going to the portland retro gaming expo every year for the past 7 years, and its amazing how much bigger its gotten. the first few years i went it was held in a few different hotels, and its cool how the last 3 or so years its been held at the expo center, and every year its just gets bigger. its also really weird to see people from youtube just walking around. Don't know if it's retro enough but I loved Jet Set Radio on dreamcast, might be time to dig it out I know it's somewhere
Awesomely entertaining episode, and that war horse song is a winner 😀
On UA-cam shows like this and others, on older episodes I always see these 'revision 3' watermarks. I know what revision 3 is, but I have no idea why all the shows lost the watermarks. can anybody please explain this?
I can't believe I missed this. I need to remember cool stuff happens in Portland.
What type of NES is the one at 6:42? I've never seen it before.
Awesome episode man!
Loved that you looked up other youtubers and included them in the video, especially since I'm a long time sub to all of them. :)
Is there a video to see the console play the cd rom Super Boss Gaiden?
Ben, the kid at 13:21 interviewing a wall... you should have asked him what was he doing!
That was me. You can see my PRGE video on my channel if u want ily
@@Lightyear no one wants to watch your video. Just tell us what you were doing!

16:47 - I actually came across a copy of Pinball recently that had one! (an even easier way to tell if you have one is shine a flashlight on the gold contact pins... if the tiny pin is off to one side and not in the middle, pretty good chance there's one in there.)
and to the disembodied voice at the end of the Road Rash clip, that was the 3DO version (although it didn't have any of that audio in game, it was primarily in the menus and stuff.)

omg seeing that "rampage" screen had soooooo many memories coming back 😱
Err.. tell me you tried plugging something in the front audio jack and check that
Do you think you can make a PS4 controller that can invert at the touch of a button?
If I had known Ben was at the expo I would've stuck around longer. He should have had a panel or something. Funny thing is I have a copy of the road rash he wants.
I love LGR
Do you repair old systems for paying customers? i have a Magnavox CDi that wont spin the disc. Thanks
You should build your own hack version of the PlayStation prototype that plays SNES games and retail PlayStation discs.
Ben did you say your from Wisconsin? I'm from Michigan, we are close to your state. We consider going to Wisconsin a spring vacation or a shopping trip lol.
I bet that wall the kid was interviewing in the background of the LGR interview had some amazing stories..
