This year and the next are gonna be amazing for Chicagoland public transit. The Double Track NWI project, this, Homewood and other Metra Electric stations being rebuilt, the RPM project and the West lake Corridor. I can't wait to see how things are going to improve.
@@sammymarrco2 Facts, but there is hope. Ridership hasn't been great but the red line extension and a new green line stop at Damen, as well as major developments happening around the pink and green lines, mean ridership is likely to increase in the future, and there will be a lot more support for better leadership and service.
Got a train out of here just a few days ago, didn't realise it was the newest Metra station! Took a Devon bus to get there (10 minute walk); pretty great layout and wayfinding, and those outside screens did exactly what you said and helped me know I didn't need to jog for a train that was still 3 minutes out. The left-side train running did confuse me for about 5 seconds lol
The BEN that came into view as you panned your camera around this new Metra transit facility looks SLIGHTLY different from all the BENches you showed us in your video - he's more vertically than horizontally oriented (most of the time). Nice review of this new Metra station!
More important to me (who lives close to Ravenswood station anyway) is how on the same opening day for this station, Metra also FINALLY brought back their mid-morning and mid-afternoon runs to Kenosha. Since cancelling them during the pandemic there were only a few early, early morning Kenosha to Chicago runs and a lot (and I don't know why) of post-rush hour Chicago to Kenosha runs. So good for the new platform and good for return of more Kenosha service! Pat, in Chicago
Love it, this is the closest metra stop to my house now! Hoping the CTA can improve the 84 buses hours and maybe even the frequency. Oh and put in a divvy station.
Nice station though, and video! That seems like a great location for people who want to live in Chicago but have jobs out in the suburbs near train stations. The typical option for a lot of those people is to live in Evanston and drive to work - this is much better. It's too bad about the permeable paving getting nixed by the agency that should really be pushing for _less_ impermeable surface.
Don't pan around when you film, it makes for horrible video. Look at how Geoff Marshall films (I know you've definitely seen his stuff). Just about every shot should be static, or nearly static. Please.

they just gotta start running the CTA competently and id be great
I just really hope that the homeless and drug addicts don't messed up the Peterson/Ridge station because that's a good spot for railfanning UP-N.
@@mjsteward5508 is homelessness a problem around there ?
can’t forget the rock island getting a new station on 79th street and the south west service is being moved to lasalle street station

Nice looking station!
I'm really impressed, they didn't half-ass this one. It's a nice proper Metra station

Peterson / Ridge looks like a good place to Railfan
Loving the mic! Very profesh. Also, Ben!
Just imagine if they did BRT on Peterson. That would be an incredible connection.

Shoutout to Ben
Hopefully when Metra, CTA and Pace merge, the real time departures screen can also show the arrivals of the connecting 84 bus.
They shouldn't have to merge to have that imo, I think it should just be a thing!
@@karatransitfurexactly, are not going to merge, are already part of same RTA.
Anyone who was around prior to 1982 will remeber that the CTA, Pace and METRA were one agency will recall that it was a DISASTER
yay

great graphics on this one!!
So are the cookies just for the opening, or will there be cookies every day?
Cookies every day would be a great rider outreach program… 😋 🍪
@karatransitfur Fort Wayne, IN airport already does this!
This is such as well-done video!!! Awesome seeing this station open up.
I think I just saw u at Borealis 1333😂 while I’m also watching this video 😂
I was on my way there as you uploaded this
Update: the waiting room was locked 😭
thank you very much for a very informative video. I am looking forward to seeing it when I get back home for a visit this August.
Cool Metra station! Never even heard about it! Guess that's why I saw they were changing the schedule for the UP-N line on their site.
Happy Peterson/ridge day 🥰
If they actually go ahead with the Asbury Yellow Line station rebuild it will be over a decade since Evanston proposed it
Oh wow, this was done properly
Now we gotta wait for Damen Green Line Station to open
Thanks, i would definitely do some railfanning photography over there.
Definitely want to check this place out! That's a really cool looking station!
it's like i just saw you there this morning
hi Ben!
This station looks nice! I was there two, and it was nice to meet you.
Mention of the adjacent cemetery brings back memories that there once was a Roseland station to serve the cemetery, many years ago.
Yes.
This station started construction on November 2021 it didn't took 12 years
Not for construction, no, but it did take twelve years from when it was first announced in 2012.
@@karatransitfur ohhhh many delays?
Damn, should've came earlier, I could've met you

Where are the benches?
Literally omw to Peterson ridge

Yeah, while editing I noticed some of my shots were very… chaotic, to say the least 😅 Definitely something I’ll be keeping in mind for the future
