The main difference between them is scheduling assistance.
When you first install Nest, it makes some assumptions about you and later uses these assumptions for its schedule. It learns your habits and starts working to anticipate your needs while saving energy. On the other hand, Ecobee lacks similar learning capabilities to Nest. Instead, it uses a more conventional schedule where you have to choose your desired sleeping times and temperatures.
Geofencing
The Nest app has an in-built geofencing feature that directly integrates with other Google Nest devices. Ecobee also supports geofencing for only one phone. To set up geofencing with multiple phones, you will require several third-party apps

You lost me an Nest anticipates your needs. As a long time Nest user it's more like Nest does a mediocre to poor job of "trying" to anticipate your needs.
What is worse is that even with the anticipation settings (auto schedule, Eco Mode, home/away assist) turned off if you manually adjust the tmperature from what you have set in the schedule even once it will intemittenly set itself to that temperature and the only way to stop it is by completely resetting the device and re-adding it to your app.
We recently bought a house and I purchased my second Nest but I am returning it an getting an Ecobee. If color is your primary concern when choosing a thermostat you deserve Nest for sure.

One of the most biased reviews you can imagine. Lol. It's funny how you go right over it's funny how you go right over not needing the c wire, so good luck when you have power issues in your nest goes dead. Not to mention the temperature sensors that you buy for the nest don't all work together to create a balanced average temperature for the house. You literally have to choose which room you want to cool down or heat up, at the expense of the other areas.ecobee sensors actually work together to aggregate a balanced temperature which is more efficient. Not to mention ecobee has air quality sensors and a more interactive touch screen. You essentially literally just chose all the best parts of the nest, which are really good, and completely ignored any of its negatives. Hope everybody downvotes this video so it doesn't get into the algorithms
