I think it's rather sweet, that even though Lorraine messed up the trick, they didn't make fun of her, Teller just took over and spared her blushes, and he made such a basic trick look gold. Sx
At their show in Vegas, they come out to the lobby and meet and greet with audience on their own time. You get to talk them one on one. I love these guys.
Apparently, he started to perform in college for fratparties, and he found that if he didn't talk, everyone would pay more attention to the tricks instead of throwing beer at him. After that, he just kept quiet.
A bum told me he could do a magic trick but in order to perform, he needed a cigarette. So I let him borrow one and he shoved it up his nose and it came out his ear and then he ate it. I never got it back. Sad day.
nope.. its just a part of their act. he leaves the talking to Penn. u can actually see some videos with Teller talking and explaining and he likes it quite a lot. he started to not talk when he found out early on that it stopped people from haggling during performance. and since Penn has a natural knack for for it and is good with words, it just became his thing.
@Sozlled actually, its not as much a gimmick as it is pure irony on their names, even though it wasnt ironic on purpose, a pen writes but doesnt speak, so penn is defying his role, a teller is someone who will explain fortunes or predict the events to happen, these need to be well spoken persuasive people, which teller is only one of. like i said, beautiful irony, sorry for the mini novel lol x
Where did you get that? Penn has gone on record as being against gun control of any kind. They even did an entire show about gun control being bullshit on their showtime show "Bullshit."
@Skelt92 you have had your rant now please leave me be, i am entitled to my own opinion but in this case i wont share it, i dont feel that what i commented was BS ok? when you look into their names there is some beautiful irony within them and i was merely pointing that out, i was not saying that was the reason why penn speaks and teller doesnt, i just meant that it was ironic that they have those names matched to those personality traits. learn to read
I don't think he could do what he did if he was shy. He apparently decided he would do a silent act since before he started working with Penn. He's not the first silent magician (although he might be the most staunchly devoted to the gimmick); he decided that his act should be about the presentation and the magic and that they'd be stronger if he didn't speak. Just like how the old silent movies didn't need to speak in order to do horror or comedy or drama.
@Skelt92 will you please learn to be less insulting, i did mention IRONY which you obviously missed in your determination to prove yourself to be the supreme superfan, i know fine well that Teller doesnt talk as part of his act -_-# jeez... grow up and get a better vocabulary instead of swearing at me....
