How to Change Xbox One NAT to OPEN and FIX Strict Connection Issues! (Easy Method)

- Do you want to know how to change the NAT Type on your XBOX ONE to Open??? From strict, moderate or double??? Changing your xbox one NAT can be very easy. To check your NAT on your xbox one, go to settings. Go to general. Then go to the network settings page. On the right of the screen, your NAT type will be displayed.
Things you can try to change your NAT Type: Try clearing the persistent storage on your xbox one and restarting your xbox. 2 Go to Advance settings, and clear your alternative mac address and restart your xbox one. 3 Go to advance settings again and go to alternate port selection and try a different port. 4 unplug xbox one and router for 2 minutes to clear the cache on both. 5 turn on UPnP on your router.

I've had an Xbox 1 for a while now just realizing I've always seen double nat and strict nat. This gave me an open nat on the 3rd step I really appreciate it. I hope my problems are solved.

@@kaitlyndudley3635 not really. Sorry for the late reply. All of this is more of a temporary fix so it was something I had to do every time I got online. Honestly if you're having issues just follow what the Xbox itself says. It'll probably tell you to visit their site for a specific solution. That's what I had to do.

This moderate NAT type issue is something on microsoft’s end. I have open NAT type on my PS4 and PC yet always have problems on my xbox. I have port forwarding on my router for every xbox port and am doing everything else for an open NAT type but it still always switches back to moderate.
This seriously should not be an issue when we pay $60+ a year for XBL. The fact that we have to go through this process to get into game lobbies and play online properly is ridiculous.
Need to set manual ip on console and make sure it matches the forwarded ports on your console

Oddly enough I have an open NAT on the console itself. However, when I go on MW2019 I have a strict NAT... Not sure how to fix this one.

Finally got it working with step 3, manual port selection. My NAT was open until I switched to IPv6, and then it went strict. This fixed it. Thanks dude, you're a legend.

You get back online? It kicked me off the internet so I had to sign back into the wireless internet with the password. I signed back in and I had open NAT and things seem to be running smoothly.

The alternate port selection works until I turn off my xbox then I have to spend about 10 minutes to find an open one again is there a fix? I cannot enable upnp because I don't have access to router settings.

Yoo just an FYI you can call the ISP customer support and they will hook you right up and get you an open NAT for the duration of your stay.

Changing the port fixes my NAT type momentarily. I even run multiple test to make sure it's reading right but when I'm in the middle of a game it will randomly change back to moderate which kicks me out of the lobby etc etc. Advice on what I need to do to keep it open?

Fuckn hell I went and bought a new xbox and having this strict nat problem I cant even play at all.
I managed to open mine, it was on strict but I don't know how long it will last. Here are the steps:
1.- IP settings --> Manual-->66-66-66-66--->same number again--->Press B--->Press B again--->Automatic
2.- DNS settings --> Manual-->66-66-66-66--->same number again--->Press Start
3.- DNS settings --> Automatic
4.- Alternate port selection ---> Pick the last one
5.- Alternate MAC address ---> Clear ---> Restart

I’ve always had an Open NAT wirelessly... as soon as I hardwired my Xbox it went to moderate.
This worked, thank you so much!! Went from wireless to wired to cut down my latency and immediately got a moderate NAT. Changing the ports after about 20 minutes worked great. Thanks again!

Here’s my situation:
One day, back in August, I didn’t have access to my personal hotspot, so my friend played on my Minecraft world with me on my regular, trashy internet. Since then, my hotspot’s NAT has been locked on Strict. I’ve tried everything, and I even checked the Xbox Live settings on my laptop, only to get the same result. Although, I still have access to Minecraft servers and my other online games work perfectly fine (minus the lag). I have never had this problem before. Usually, my hotspot says “UPnP not successful”, and occasionally that will cause some problems, but it usually fixes itself in a matter of days. This, however, has been going on for a few months.
Basic Summary: My networks have flip-flopped. Now I can play on my friends Minecraft worlds even though my NAT is Moderate w/ Double, while I now can barely use my hotspot for anything online other than Minecraft servers and Roblox. I’m also mentioning that I use Sprint on 3G and I still have this problem as of November 9, 2020.
(btw I’m posting this on a bunch of other videos to increase my chances of getting a solution)
Hey dude , try factory reseting your Xbox. Clear all data except for your downloaded games. Worked for me in the end !!
