At the end of the day when it comes to the landscaping company, yea they didn't have any markings and look amature you started the same way with your pressure washing business. We all started with no markings until we learned how to build our brand. And we still learning. But you do display what you know, when you talk about it.
I have to bid on a complex I actually live in. They have 18 buildings and no breezeways. 5 properties total. Your video took away my anxiety to bid this. I appreciate you!
I watch the whole video and like how you broke everything down just detailed enough to know that you’re not gonna be losing money, but not so detail that you don’t keep my attention because you’re an accountant who focuses on numbers like a fanatic. So good job I like what you did.
The "grease" stains in the breeze ways is actually "trash juice". Most communities allow remnants to set trash outside their front door for valet service.
I started factoring in “owner’s pay” to my cost and it has revolutionized my profit. If I’m the one doing the work, I figure an hourly rate, because I’m the employee at that time. Then I get 50% gross on top of that and start there
What about a multiplier for being 3story heighten and additional chems? )540’x32’ = over 17k sqft) outside only 🤷♂️ not including interior walls of breezeways, as well as if they expect front sidewalks, ceilings (and god forbid) those balconies to be included? (I may have missed that part tho). Definitely wanna check their budget and be very specific on details or you may be lower than needed. Hope it comes out even better in your favor at the final. Let us know how it turns out! ✌️
You can add your individual flow to your estimates everybody got their own things what's important or what means to them or what matters to the most so everybody estimate do and yours if you in in this situation could include that
I was thinking of that too, if essentially you bid driveways and sidewalks it by square footage, wouldn’t you do the same with the walls? Since they are 3 times higher or just multiple the sqft of one building by 3 ?
When you factored in the costs: You calculated the chemicals, gas, and taxes per day when it was for the entire job. It should have been separate from the amount you need to pay an employee per day. So you will make more than what you calculated. per/day and per/job are two separate numbers since you don't pay $500 each per day for gas & chems, nor $2734 per day for taxes - those are added after you calculate the employee cost per day.
I'm starting to dip my toe into commercial jobs and it seems like the budgets they have are just super unrealistic for me to bother working for. I had a 26,000 sq ft parking lot and they said my budget at .15 was outrageous and they had a budget of 1000 lol
Just wondering if you ever got this job. I couldn't find any follow up videos. The closest one was a complex with raccoon problems that didn't look like the same complex. I really hope you didn't do this one because you shorted yourself in your calculations. Major flaw- Taking the length times width of the building the way you did gives you total square footage of a floor, or roof if you would have figured in slope etc. For the exterior walls you were doing, you should have taken length of each exterior wall times the height.
Btw kudos on filming yourself meeting with the property managers, I’m currently a Sales Manager for a very large RV dealer and it doesn’t matter whether it’s a season vet or a fresh green pea, it is nerve racking to try and sell with being recorded. Good job 👍 Another great video or series would be filming some incoming/outgoing sales calls on jobs you land and showing some that you miss. It’s important for the new guys to learn that even the best in the business do not have a 100% close rate.
Hey Austin, great video! Just for future reference, when making J Cuts and L Cuts while editing the video, make sure to cut the Audio track as well. I am clearly late to this video, but just some friendly advice :)
Great video, I literally do the same thing when pricing commercial work. It’s hard to land them at a price where it’s worth your time and effort. Had a company wanting a 39000 sq ft 3 story building with a 4.5k budget. Yeah no thanks I’d be about 2.5-3x the cost of that I’ll keep my truck parked.
Hey Austin, I have a question for you when you measure the total square footage of a building do you take in consideration that it is three stories high. Because I see in the video you just measured the outside square footage. How does that work ? Or does it matter it’s three stories high ? Thanks bro
The way I do it is measure out the circumference of the building and multiply that by the height of the building. If the building is 100’ around and 12’ high then it equals 1,200 sqft of siding to wash. Keep in mind that exterior height is normally higher than interior (causeway) height. So if you are washing causeway walls then factor that height into the equation.
Hey Austin another great video. Just wanted to let you know that the 109665 number that you're using is the total flat surface area of all buildings combined including rooms offices hallways etc etc When you measure with Google earth the way you did all you are calculating is total flat surface area of that building which you obviously can't be washing as most would be internals. Just thought I'd let you know. cheers Benedetto 🇮🇹 DownUnder
Hey thanks for the comment! Yes I am aware of that. Everyone in the industry goes by the total square footage of the floor plan. So if the house is 2500 square-foot, we price based off that number.
@Austin Davis yeah cool I was a little confused that's all I thought that you'd only calculate the surface area that was being cleaned Thanks for the info 👍
Hey Austin great video & insight on the meeting/estimate. I am interested in getting into the Power washing business because the apartment complex Im living at needs to be cleaned really bad lol The thing is that I don't own a truck or power washing materials. but to combat that I was thinking of maybe renting a truck and using some of my savings to buy material. Would you recommend doing this or how would you get started? *I would reach out first to see if I could land the job before purchasing anything
Love your vids; but the music intro around 1 minute was way louder than the talking before, painful had to turn down headphones quick, not fun. But thanks for all your vids
Hey Austin, maybe the mom-and-pop shop that you were talking about was just getting in the business and didn't have money for shirts and advertising on the side of their truck and or their trailer,,,, did you ???? plus your paying workers about $31.00 per hour based on 8 hrs, wow.... Great info though....
Where do you get your chemicals? On average, how much SH are you using in a weeks time? I’m in the process of getting my ducks in a row, and plan on beginning the marketing in March, and will start taking on jobs soon after. I’m in the East TX area.
The guy with no advertising is going to get the job for $8,000. He won’t use chemicals. You’ll see swirls and poor work all over the surface. But! It looks better and half the price you are presenting.
Yea I don’t like the fact that you had a problem with the lawn crew because that was once you out there! Maybe the just wanted to give them a opportunity! Just because the don’t have a “BIG NAME” doesn’t mean that they can’t do quality work! In life everyone wants and deserve a opportunity!!!’
Oh no I agree with you. I was once them as well lord knows that. I’m just saying it could be a hint as to what budget they have. Most apartment complexes that I go to, they have all the big-name landscapers out there with all the branding and all the equipment and shirts.
Hey Austin.. Brian from Wisconsin. Just a quick question. Have the opportunity to bid on a condo complex, all ranch style, 28 buildings about 3000 sqft. each. Would it be wise to get roughly 25 percent down to at least cover expenses to start? Thanks.. Really appreciate your videos!
Some people do this. I would probably do it depending on how large of a job it was. But be careful because some companies might not want to do that and could go for someone else that won’t require that
You left $33,000 on the table. You forgot 2/3’s of your sq. Footage! You only calculated the fist story for all of the buildings. No offense, but I hope you didn’t win that bid thats $ .05 a sq. That’s almost working for free.🤢🤮
Imagine you be so jealous that the mom and pop landscapers are getting jobs. Don’t just a book by its cover they couldn’t came in very polite convinced that they were hard working and they gave them a try. Sorry not everyone has 50k to throw into a business to start.
You do a video on the forms or the actual typing up the draft bid or wants everything is you know professionally typed up on an estimate what what should that look like cuz you doing a video of that the format if you will or how those numbers look when a quote to the client that You are bidding for
Thanks bro you really got me on the right track with this video and now I know I'll be able to get my business up and running without to many problems now that you've taught me the proper way to bid and evaluate the properties 🫡🫡🫡 liked and subscribed ✅ ✅

I've literally watched all of your videos and learned a ton! Keep it up as I also started my own business doing this.
Great video thank you for the long and detailed version that not many other channels are offering for free. Appreciate you.
I think your numbers were spot on I do 100% agree with you on throwing a discount to sell the job... your still gonna be up...

Great video Austin. Great breakdown on everything you do for a commercial job. I appreciate you bro

Great video, Austin. Thank you for the insights. I hope the apt management company accepts your bid.

Great point!
Hey man, just wanted to thank you for all the info I’ve bought courses from other pros that don’t give you this much information.
I've been there. Definitely have way to catch the water. They also need the dryer vents cleaned.
Hey Austin, great video! Just for future reference, when making J Cuts and L Cuts while editing the video, make sure to cut the Audio track as well. I am clearly late to this video, but just some friendly advice :)
Next to dollar general, and I say good luck getting a good price on it, before even watching past the 13:36 part of the video
You need to sell a course!
Davis shooter tip for the win

he added 2500 ft in to cover the 3 stories as a guesstimate.

Thanks for the Best Buy run
Brilliant breakdown video bud - keep it coming, from Ireland
Have you ever finished your bid high medium low. And ask them what their budget is? And compare and see what you can do for them?
Water recovery? Interior flashings to prevent leaking into walls?
40 minute austin davis video lets goooo

Hey Austin great video & insight on the meeting/estimate. I am interested in getting into the Power washing business because the apartment complex Im living at needs to be cleaned really bad lol

Quote what you’ve got to have and don’t worry about competition and what will be, will be.
Do you include what you charge for taxes on your quotes?
Tell them bro they think its easy to work & get the content.
Hey man! Is Justin’s Facebook Ad course worth it? I seen you had a review on their site. Thanks!
Did they accept it?
Where do you get your chemicals? On average, how much SH are you using in a weeks time? I’m in the process of getting my ducks in a row, and plan on beginning the marketing in March, and will start taking on jobs soon after. I’m in the East TX area.

your profit is like 75%
15:58 lol
They’re wasting your time I’m willing to bet. Good luck.
