Thank you so much for these in-depth & thoughtful videos! And thank you for sharing your heart as always! The way you love those kids? JUST INSPIRING!!!!
Shanna Noel YES!! I was thinking the same thing! This was my first video of hers I’ve watched and a few minutes in I thought “wow, she’s such a great mom. You can just tell how much she loves her boys” ❤️
I'm in the middle of watching your video and loving it! I can't wait to watch how you homeschool your boys together. This is the exact situation I have with my younger two and I'm trying to school them together this year.
Oh my gosh! Those dimples though! I wanted to learn more about the curriculum but my favorite part was watching your boys smile and laugh! Good job Momma!
I learned about The Good and The Beautiful from your channel. We have purchase pre-k, k, level 2, level 3, and level 5 language arts as well as the Arthropods lesson. I must say Thank You. This curriculum along with our other lessons/subjects pulled from other sources is making a strong impact and effect on our children in the best way. Again thank you!
I totally get the “gifted” term, and having to mentally challenge a child who was much younger. My oldest started reading at 2 (her idea, not mine). She had a high school reading level in elementary years. Finding books that didn’t bore her, but didn’t compromise her social and emotional age was a task. My youngest is nearly 6 and just starting to identify letters, numbers, colors. Both girls are so smart and “gifted” in different ways.
annaleighadams mine is the opposite. Her school pushed reading so hard in pre-K and K and she wasn’t ready. Now she hates it and struggles with it. They also didn’t reach her decoding. They just taught them sight words. She’s 10 now and finding books that aren’t super long but not to babyish is hard. She’s coming along though. Her speech isn’t great either nor her vocabulary. She’s catching up nicely but man it can be hard because books expect kids of certain ages to be in some artificially created reading range.
Yes to the spelling rules!! I found the spelling/reading curriculum we used last year had rules for everything and my daughter could read the words without learning the rule behind it. It was like going in circles- she knew how to read all these words and yet the curriculum had me explaining how to decode/sound out/decipher the words. I finally said "enough " and we finished with 20 lessons still in the curriculum because her fluency was so beyond what the curriculum was dictating to us. No fault to the curriculum- it really was wonderful- but my daughters reading and spelling just took off much faster than the curriculum and all the rules were becoming a hindrance rather than a help.
I meant to add that I'm an excellent speller and don't remember a single rule! Or if I was ever taught them. Maybe they were taught but my head must have been in the clouds that day.
Thank you so much for this. I love your views on homecoming. I really think this curriculum will help me fill in the gaps. We're unschoolers moving toward more structure and this really helped me out!
I was planning on getting levels 2 and 4 for my girls even thou they going into 3rd and 5th . We were doing Abeka and my 7year old seems to struggle so much with reading and my 9 year old loves reading but struggles with parts of speech and really does not know parts of speech or rules but her level of reading exceptional. Should I go down a level ?? Or do I buy them the level according to the grade they are going into?
Syreena...you are such a breath of fresh air. And your smile is contagious! Thank you for giving us glimpses into your family's life. I was wondering if you would let us know what app you use to edit on the IPad? Also, could you give us a DITL? I'd love to see how your day flows using TGTB.
I love these longer videos. My daughter is 10 and has no confidence. We are just starting our first full homeschool year after a disastrous 6 year public school experience. We got 3 and 4 for her. I usually have to defer to Daddy. He's over the road all week and when he comes home she has to double check everything with him. That girl whined for 3 months about she just COULD NOT learn times tables. To hard she said. Daddy tricked her into learning all of them in a day and he just says see how hard was that. Her only response....Oh! She's an art junkie and very gifted in art so I am very much hoping this will catch her eye. Do you have any recommendations for Ipad apps?
I really like the content of your videos. But, I struggle to watch them since they are sometimes too long. I'm not sure if this is the same for more viewers but 45 minutes is too long for me :(.
Madahi Nevarez LoL I knowwwwwwwwwww!!!! I am not a fan of long videos but I’ve had SO MANY of my long time subscribers express how much they love long videos and I appreciate their support over the years so I try and grant their request as much as I am able. There are many videos on my channel that are short and sweet and also many of my homeschool mom UA-cam friends that make short and sweet videos as well. Michelle form @acommonlife is one of my very favorites!!! 😘
Thanks, Syreena! Today I posted an unusually long video (a DITL for the first time in almost a year), but, yes, I try to keep mine shorter. Regardless, your content is the BEST on UA-cam- ask any of the homeschooling mama here; they all know that you are my fav!
I literally get so excited to grab my coffee and sit down for 40+ minutes with my girl, Syreena! 💗
Here you go trying to make my whole ENTIRE day again! 💕
Me too
Me too!!! And also, This Gathered Nest, I love watching your channel too. My two fav people!! Thank you for everything you share :)
How did you download it to your iPad? I always get a message saying that it can’t be downloaded to apple products

The best video I've watched on UA-cam in a long time. You're such an inspiration! Lovely family.

How does the iPad work with TGATB

New homeschool mom! How do you grade? Are there test in the curriculum?

Hey! This is where she talked about using the IPAD to fill out worksheets. ua-cam.com/video/iQhnBHrt7_k/v-deo.html

I just received level 3 and 4 today in the mail, can't wait to go through it! How do you grade what you do? Thanks! :-)
Hi! I just found your channel through "this gathered nest", which I'm new to following as well! thank you

TheFallCoFamily I absolutely appreciate the length of the videos. I feel they’re more thorough when time is taken to talk out ALL THE THINGS.
I loved the length! I am really focusing on curriculum choices and this video really helped me.
Her videos are usually not this long. So, I love the fact that she gave us a long video this time.
