    Very informative. Wow!! Thank you so much! This is by far one of the best CV axle removal i've seen. Please keep posting more. Thanks.

    I did the exact same thing as you and forgot to undo the CV bolt before jacking up the car, had to lower it again to undo 😂

    Great video. I don't know how you did it without getting covered in grease.

      I'm not sure I did, might have been a combination of doing a few of them recently and selective video cuts

      I try to keep on top of them! Don't think so, I imagine I would have replaced them if they were

    thank you so much. But you did not have to empty the gear box from oil, did you?

    • @ToolTimeWithTom
      @ToolTimeWithTom  10 місяців тому

      No problem at all, no, I didn't have to drain the gearbox! I wasn't sure if I was going to lose any fluid but none came out.

    Can you open the wheel bolts with a cordless screwdriver? Or have you already loosened it?

    • @ToolTimeWithTom
      @ToolTimeWithTom  Рік тому

      Wheel bolts undone with cordless impact driver, depends on the model though, maybe cheap brands won't work so well.

    Why did you have to mark the first bolt you removed with the double stripes? Is there a special orientation to reinsert?

    • @ToolTimeWithTom
      @ToolTimeWithTom  6 місяців тому +1

      I wanted to make sure to put the axle back in the same position it was removed in case it was balanced as an assembly. I don't think it is, but it's easy to just make a mark, put it back as you took it off then you don't have to think about it. One of those things where you probably don't need it but if you find out later you do, it's too late.

    What size bit (torx? triple square?) is used for the inner 6 bolts?

    • @ToolTimeWithTom
      @ToolTimeWithTom  4 місяці тому +1

      I can't remember the bit size but they're triple square bolts

      Hard to remember, been a while since I did this, if the bolts look like they had loctite on them before I add it again!

      Depending which country you're in I suppose, they're readily available in the UK from general motor part sellers such as GSF and Autodoc

    Do you have to drain the transmission oil before removing the driveshaft

    • @ToolTimeWithTom
      @ToolTimeWithTom  Рік тому

      No, on this DSG I unbolted from a flange rather than a spline going directly into the gearbox

      @@ToolTimeWithTom is it the same with the 6 speed manual box ?

    • @ToolTimeWithTom
      @ToolTimeWithTom  Рік тому

      I'm not sure but could stick a pan under the driveshaft and then just drops into there, if it's bolted it should be fine

    • @motomc6962
      @motomc6962 Рік тому +4

      @@ToolTimeWithTom aye I will do, been told off a few people that it just bolts into the shaft and doesn’t go in the actual gearbox so no oil can leak out
