I'm starting teaching this to my 10u team today. I'd like to see additional progressions of driving through with the feet, and using leverage with spill and force techniques! Good job Bobby
How all your videos do not have over a million views amazes me...Great video as someone who enjoys coaching and now introducing my 9yr old and next year my 8yr. I find your approach a God Send and i like how you break it down in your camp..
It's all about the technique Rory695. New helmets are not the answer... Imagine a single giant Claussen Pickle in a Jar (incl the juice); seal it tight and shake....pickle hits the side of the jar....that's essentially what happens to your brain in your skull...... Now let's place bubble wrap 8 inches thick around the jar; shake it. Pickle is still slamming into the damn sides of the jar..... Kill the the forces to the head by changing the biomechanics; Remove it from the play..that works.
We are starting to see coaches teach rugby tackling in addition to this. Track the near hip of the ball carrier, which prevents or mitigates cut backs; aim for the near peck, drop your hips then explode them with a rip move, driving your shoulder through the near peck; or you can go lower, driving your shoulder through the near thigh, all while keeping your head on the near hip of the ball carrier. This also allows for safe compression/gang tackles.
You explained it perfectly to why you would never tackle like that. That is how American football will see the worse rash of injuries since the 1900's.
Thank you themusicluvas....I appreciate that
