Mike didn’t worry about all these cool buzz words. He was an exceptional athlete who was an absolute savage. He wouldn’t be allowed to play in today’s NFL.
This is the form and fit, chest on the rise. At the end, USA Football adds the "slide head to side" almost for PR reasons. Not sure I like guys turning/sliding their heads but I like this "hit up" tackle. What I don't agree with is rugby style tackling that has the tackler coming in flat backed, exposing his spinal column in a dangerous way. If his angle is wrong or if ball carrier changes direction, he's in trouble.
This tackling technique is good for inside linebackers . It's no good for corners and safeties . Corners and safeties have been adopted to hitting much lower .
I like these techniques for athletes with similar size and strength. But at the youth level player size is very mismatched. There must be a more effective way for a small athlete to tackle a stronger larger player.
@@utahhoopsfreak8648 why do you think this type of tackling isn't promoted any longer? Why do you think criticism of this type of practice were taken down by the NFL? It was and is BS
@@davidaulds7031 he's teaching the correct way of tackling that is still taught at USA football classes which are also endorsed by the NFL. Respectfully he isn't teaching "tackling" in the form of which he played. Reaching your head across the body of the offensive player as the defender is how he's played, this isn't what is being taught. As that method is no longer taught.
Youth tackling drills being taught by one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history, Mr. Mike Singletary (#50 Chicago Bears).
I'm putting my boy in football. He'd really enjoy knowing this
0:11 Breakdown Position
1:48 Buzz to Hit
3:00 Hit Position
5:18 Shoot
7:10 Rip
8:23 Summary
Now I have to go through my entire history to find the 5 individual videos.. I support heads up football on my page every year.
Brother if you want all separate just ask. UA-cam changed my video so I deleted the separate one....

I’m in Little League B Team is this a good drill for b team?
I am on a b team too and yes this is a good thing to practice
Yes it is. Proper foundational techniques and drills
Great Video
Thanks for the visit. More drills and techniques will be added
Wait what

Yes but you have to teach it both ways cause all athletes come in different sizes.

With all due respect this really looks like they're going to break their knecks with their heads back like that
I don’t see you in the HOF with a SB ring😂
This is not safe, its a sure fire way to get your head knocked off period!
Anytime Mike Singletary and David Aulds disagree on how to tackle, I think I'm going with the guy who reached the hall of fame by tackling.

@@davidaulds7031 you might be right. Mike Singletary might be right. You can't both be right.
