If I were a rich man, I would have to try to come to Scotland to meet you. I have learned so much from just watching your video's, but being a large, handicapped man, I haven't found anyone to teach me to fly fish. So many of the flies I tie, I can't use. I have sold quite a few, surprised me when other fishermen have asked me to sell them my flies, or tie something for them. It is all thanks to you, and an investment in supplies. Thanks Davie for sharing your art with the world. ATB, Sean
Beautiful tying Davie , what type of feather do you recommend for the Palmer body ? I really enjoy tying and fishing palmered wets and dabblers and would like to invest in a good cape , without breaking the bank. Just wondering what you recommended ? I’m a bit confused with the different capes and saddles out there . Any help appreciated . Kind regards, Mark .
Hi Mark, Saddles are more used for palmers now more that any capes nowadays and the ones I use most depend on the feathers as they can be too short in fibre and too stiff for wets...I prefer to look through the saddles when I'm buying them if I can so that I can pick the ones I like for these flies, Whiting Hebert Minor, Keouch and Metz Grade 2 are three that are more available to use..I have attached some links to them for you to see as well as some I found on Ebay that you may like to see.....I hope this is of some help to you.. Thankyou, Aloha🌴🎣🏄♂️
The dabbler is a great looking fly Davie. Exceptionally well tied and explained as usual. Many thanks.

Idle curiosity, I wonder where the name "dabbler" came from? 🤔
