Davie, I fished a fiery brown dabbler last week here on the Delaware river in the Catskills, New York. I tied it without the gold tinsel. Anyways it worked extremely well, I caught a 22" brown right at sunset. Thanks so much for all your videos. It has helped me tremendously! Michael Johnson
Beautiful once again......I am amazed how easy you make it look. You motivate me to practice, practice, practice. Thank you again for the videos. Looking forward to watching another one. What is your favorite kind of fish to use your flies on..??? I mean if you could fish for anything, anytime, anywhere. What and where would it be???? :-) lindsay
Fantastic again Davie, It takes me longer than you (with you talking and showing each step) to tie one of these. Unfortunately, I will probably never get to Scotland or Ireland to fish it, but it sure is pretty. May try it here in the U.S. never know it may catch me a fish someday. Hope to swim some of these flies I am tying but it is a great hobby even if I don't. Lord willing I will learn to fly fish this side of heaven. All the best to you and yours. Sean
Davie, beautiful as usual and your demonstrations are quite motivating. Looking at several of your Loch patterns can you describe how you fish them? Leader length, floating or sinking tip line, loose knot at the leader/ fly for maximum action, etc. cheers!
Hi kuttycrew, I would normally fish wets in a cast of two to three flies and I would use an arms width distance between them. The lines would be anything from a floating line down to a di3, I just use a standard tucked blood knot to fish these flies.. I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie
Hi Davie. Another great video with amazing techniques to learn. Could you suggest alternative to sunburst guinea fowl for front hackle? I have it in 5 colours but none that close...
Hi Brian, If you have a yellow or an orange guinea fowl feather then they would work well with this pattern..I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the kind words.. All the very best Davie
Your tutorials give so many little tips that make tying so much easier, your expertise is greatly appreciated, not to mention these fantastic patterns. Question...where do you get the “SUNBURST” dye ???? L 👍🎣👍
Hi Leonard, I have attached a link to a video I made on how to get a good sunburst colour using Veniards dyes for you to see..I'm glad you enjoy the videos and I hope this is of some help to you.. All the very best Davie ua-cam.com/video/ZQtIPauZQ08/v-deo.html
Davie McPhail Last question...your feather dying video gave your recipe for a mixture of dyes which I just purchased BUT... is the Veniard dye SUNBURST YELLOW the same color as the SUNBURST NYMPH color or do you have to mix colors to get that INCREDIBLE (and I mean INCREDIBLE) color ? L 😎🎣😎
Hi Saburou Shiro, I use a Law Vise but unfortunately it's no longer made and when one does come on the market it sells for silly money... All the very best Davie
