    Great video Joe! After going through 5 or 6 other ones ranging from terrible to so-so on this exercise, yours is by far the best (great instruction / variations)! ~Andrea, BaSC Kin.

    Thank you so much. I had surgery on my knee 2 years ago and the strength in that leg is still weak. This is gonna be great for isolating my legs. Thank you so much!

    New viewer here, just wanted to start by saying thanku brodiman. I just hit 39yrs, it was a bit of an eye opener (even tho I am somewhat fit, I do ride a longboard around everyday, lol.) but I'm def starting to feel it. Aside from back and ankle/foot surgeries, I now have a shoulder and hip problem for, God knows what reason, for almost a yr now as well as the onset of arthritis. Totes sux. Anyways, I was hoping u perhaps already had a video u've made that would work for me. I know ur busy, so I obv don't expect personal training, lol, but maybe u can just point me in the right direction. A lil important background on myself, I'm an addict, well 13yrs recovered now, but the toll on my body is done. At least opioid addictions seemed to pause the growth cycle as opposed to uppers that seem to ravage their users. I look like I'm in my l8 20's. I just really want my core to b proper and in sync,.. balanced. Especially that I sk8 just regular, I Jane better balance in my leggy thigh even tho my right is my power leg. Idk, like I said, I'm just getting bak into this,.. any input would b truly appreciated. And course u Jane a new sub here either way. Thanx again homie.

    Thank you. This will help me do single leg squat after tibial plateau fracture with meniscus tear! I was struggling to initiate this single leg squat! Very cool 😎

    Thank you for all of the awesome and easy to follow content. I discovered your channel when looking for a foam roller tutorial and am looking forward to using that video as a training reference. I learned several new things from it! (A video suggestion: Ankle/Achille's tendon flexibility)

    Awesome video, my left leg is good overall condition compared to my right.. my right side has a flat foot from over pronation, but is also much stronger than my left side, which is causing a major dependency on my right side.
    I'm using your tips to gain muscle on my left side, where my foot is not flat, since I have been putting far less pressure on it, it's much weaker. I'm afraid of long term effects of this. Trying to eliminate it now.

    Hey Joe!! I just found your channel. I’m almost done with my massage therapy training and want to get involved with some local sports teams. If you have any advice, I’d really appreciate it! I live in Portland OR. I’m super excited to get out into the field!!

    Does this increase the vertical like the normal squat does?

    Joe, great channel! Have any advice for a knee problem? I have pain in the tendon directly below my kneecap (I assume that is the problem given that is where it hurts!). It tweaks with sharp pain in all positions except when fully locked out. Dunno how it started but it is becoming debilitating...

    My right side is very weak. How many more reps or sets should I do to correct the muscle strength imbalance?

    Great tutorial! Isn’t this exercise also known as the ‘pistol squat’?

    • @joetherapy
      @joetherapy  5 років тому +6

      Pistol is basically a single-leg squat all the way to the way down without assistance!

    Would you approach this differently if you have knee problems? I broke my kneecap playing soccer a while back and I need to be easy on it.

      I'm no expert, but I'd probably just stick to simple bodyweight squats & (maybe) lunges if I wanted to be safe on my knees after such an injury.

    "A little bit harder". More like 100% harder.
