But LOD is not interchangeably used with design/construction stage. In actual projects it could be a mixed of LOD's of building elements for each stages.

agree, but maybe it help us to understand the level in the stage. we could start or end at whatever level in this technological era but we still must accomplish some output in some stages

LoD still stands for Level of Detail or Level of Development or Level of Definition. It all refers to the same meaning.
