I have seen a lot of Videos already from different creators. Most in german, but this series is very good to follow along with lots of quality of life tips and tricks

Thanks! I really appreciate the comment. My goal with this series is to provide content that is relevant and informative, not just "click here, do this, do that." Explaining how and why things work is equally, if not more important than simply detailing how to do something.
Ultimately I want to provide the type of content that was not available to me when I was learning how to mod.

Awesome video. When I started a video I watched said click no and no when importing. Which resulted in my changing the paths and folders to clean things up. I’ve since learned by experimenting. Keep up the great videos.

Man I have to say coming across you videos a couple weeks back about grass texture was the best thing I have done. I have watched all your videos now and there the best ones out there. I’m proud to say you taught me how to completely overhaul this abandoned map I found and liked that I was wanting to fix up but didn’t know how. Now I have done it all from replacing foliage to fixing broken productions in the id3 stuff to changing up what productions produce. And adding custom crop types. I can’t thank you enough keep up the amazing work guys like me sure appreciate it. I for sure can’t thank you enough.

Awesome! I'm really glad the videos were of some help to you. The videos are still a little rough around the edges because I have absolutely no experience with editing videos, but they are coming along. I have another series coming up soon and hopefully they will be a bit better. It's going to be an intermediate series where we start to get into some slightly more advanced topics and bigger maps.

@@bauerbrown awesome look forward to them. The only two things I have yet to learn is how to build a bale trigger and second don’t know if this one is possible but I would like to take a production from this map I have been working on and make it into its own mod that I can use on all my other maps without having to go into ge and add it. Just simply go to production menu and it’s there to add on any map.

This may be a real foolish question, but I must have missed the part where you first talked about importing objects. It seems like it should be intuitive, but I don't know where common objects are stored on my computer. Like, I think there has to be a folder of fences and a folder of houses and rocks and trees, but I can't seem to locate them. It doesn't seem right that I would have to use prefabs to get fan-created content to do every little thing, and it doesn't seem right that I would have to export models that are already in the map just to use them in another map, or again in the same map. Is that really the way it is, or is there another video where you teach about importing?

Everything is in the base game folder, and that depends on your installation. For example, Steam would be C:/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Farming Simulator 22/data. Wherever the game is installed - it does not have to be C:

Also, keep in mind that not everything is available in the base game folder. In many instances you do have to export from another map, or download premade objects from the internet. Over time you'll have a collection of objects that you gathered from pretty much everywhere.

@@bauerbrown I found the data folder on my own easily enough, but I couldn't find the boulders that went into the US map cave area, or any fenses, signs, roads, etc. Am I right to assume that these are baked into the map itself and thus need to be exported?

@@codymartinson9518 That's correct, objects such as those will need to be exported from the map that contains them.

Hello, could I ask you a question? A few days ago I'm trying to import a sign with light to my map, I want to change what the sign says to put a personalized message on it, so what I do is enter the mod, export the sign, then import the sign on my map, plant it and then change the image file to another. In the Giant Editor things seem to work fine because I can see the poster with the changed image, but when I enter fs22 I get the blank poster, with no image. I've tried it several times and I can't do it, I've tried to plant the sign without changing the image, just place it on the map, but still when running fs22 the sign comes out blank. Could you help me please?

Once you create the new image for the sign, store it in the same folder where other assets for the mod are stored. Open the mod in GE, locate the primitive for the sign where the image would go, go into the material editor and assign the new image as an albedo map to that primitive, save the mod, and test in game. If you are seeing the image within GE but not in game, there is a filepath issue. Either you do not have the filepath set correctly so it can find the image, or you do not have the image stored in the location where it belongs for the mod to find it at run time. GE doesn't care where the image is located, and it will it work fine within GE. The game is not the same way, the image MUST be located somewhere within the mod itself, and the filepath must correctly point to that image. What does your error log say?
