  • In episode 21 of this map making tutorial for Giant's Editor 9.0.3 and Farm Sim 22, we are going to learn how to make fields using the "blue square" default method utilized by Giant's themselves. The advantage to this method is that it works right out of the box without the need for additional scripts or infoLayers. Stay tuned for future videos where I'll show you a much easier method for creating fields that DOES require the need for additional scripts and infoLayers, but is so much easier in the long run and allows for much more complex field designs.

    My squares are purple. You absolutely made me scream "What the h***" with the limit to texture thing! It drove me CRAZY trying to get it to line up and stay within the lines LOL.

      LOL. In previous versions of GE that option was not available, so I feel your pain!

    These videos and this series has been truly amazing Bauer! I've learned soo much, i spend more time in the editor than actually playing haha! Taking my map really slow and rewatched a few in the series already (damn terrain weights) :D Just added 3 fields and they are all different colors lol

      I spend way more time in the editor than I do actually playing, no doubt about it. Making maps is just as enjoyable as playing it, if not more so. If you have 3 different fields they should all be different colors. I depends what colors we are talking about I guess.

    Hey Bauer, enjoying the series, following along with my mod map, learning as I go. I’m using GE 9.0.3 ( latest version ) and field areas show blue. Creating fields is such a laborious task. Hope you are enjoying making the videos as I am watching - keep up the good work.

      HA! You're not exaggerating, it really is a laborious task! Once I make the video for fields using a script with InfoLayer and bitmap, your whole outlook on making fields will change for the better. It's literally as easy as painting them on! Blue huh? I have an idea why mine are suddenly in color but not 100%. I'm glad you're enjoying the series!

    I'm two-thirds through this video, watching you carefully paint that field, and thinking about a video you've made since this one about best practices, tips, and tricks, and the limit to texture feature keeps going through my mind. This is a great video; I'm picking up a lot, Bauer Brown. I started back in FS 2015, altering some of my favorite maps to suit my needs, and I am converting one of them now for FS 22, Westbridge Hills. That said, I created fields the old way and did the same on into FS 17, but even though I moved to FS 19, real life stepped in and once again took a crap on my head. So, I never learned about the newer versions with the farmlands and the placeables (I watched your video); they were strange to me. It's starting to make sense now. By the way, when working on my map from scratch in FS17, I used fence posts from a fence and gate mod to mark my field corners once I had painted them and used their x,y, and z coordinates for the numbers 1 and 3 corners; 2 took care of itself.
    Edit; Oops, should have just watched and kept my finger off the keyboard, right.

      If you're OK using posts to mark the perimeter of a field, then you'll love one of my upcoming videos. There are already two options for creating fields, this will add a third.

    So the easier way is in another video not in the playlist? Is it out yet? I love how the information I'm looking for is always one video away.

      It's out. I'm sure you'll find it if you either keep watching videos, or just look through the playlist. But I do release these videos as I create them, so sometimes yes, the video may not be out yet. However, in this case it has been out for some time now.

    I'm not sure why but my "toggle render field areas" has been crashing the software. Not EVERY time, but its happened now 3x so far in the last 2 days

    • @bauerbrown
      @bauerbrown  11 місяців тому

      Strange, but not uncommon. Usually, I get more reports of crashing while trying to generate a navigation mesh, but there is a reason for that and way to make it stop doing it. As far as the field areas, could it be system related?

    hello! i don't understand how to create a field 01 ,you start whit field already exist..so.. i just grab the info layer from a field in the map and move to the place i need. But how to create from scratch? i mean ..if i have a flat empty map ,how to create the first?

    • @bauerbrown
      @bauerbrown  Рік тому +1

      I did start with a flat, empty map. When I created that flat map, I purposely did not delete the field info. I was able to use that field later to create my first field as you see in the video. This video is part of a series where I show how to create the entire map, starting from scratch. This is video 21, it's possible you missed something in the previous 20 videos that got us to this point :) Anyhow, as I have stated in the video, if you do not have the field info to start with, you can either export them from a base game map and then re-import into your own project, or you can create them by hand using the base game as a reference for the attributes and such.
