This is consistent with other reviews. There is a lot to like about ST+, most of the numbers are close enough to top end launch monitors for it to be good enough for amateurs. The only area where it does look as though there needs to be some improvements is in the club data for path, face to path and angle of attack. In fairness to ST+ some of the discrepancy could easily be down to alignment of the ST+ and the golfer (a good parallelogram jig would fix that) and/or vibrations from the club hitting the mat shifting the ST+ very slightly (I believe they sell a metal protective box for the ST+ that can be screwed down which should solve that). What would be interesting is to redo the test over several days and different golfers to see if there is any consistency in the difference between ST+ and Trackman in the data for path, face to path and angle of attack and whether it varies based on club head speed. Also completely agree with the comments about how the lack of impact location means the ball flight will be a little off. That is clearly a significant limitation for ST+ but personally given the cost, I am happy to live with it
Hi Justin, the ST+ really impressed me. Definitely agree with the comments about the face and path. Personally I think it was down to alignment, it is really difficult to align them perfectly . But for the price of the unit it is seriously impressive and SkyTrak have done a great job with it.
What’s consensus on the club data with ST+? I worry that inaccurate club data is worse than no data, especially for someone using this to work on their swing…
Your video confirmed what I am seeing. When I go to my pro for a lesson, we are working on flattening and club path. The trakman path data is far more accurate than Skytrak+. With my ST+, path will read 4 to 6 degrees in-to-out. But when I hit on Trakman, I'm lucky to register a 3 degree in-to-out. So I think ST+ is very good for $3,000 but if you happen to need very accurate club face/path data, it is lacking
Highly interesting topic! Average numbers is not a worry good metric for accuracy though. Specialy with such small sample size. A shot by shot comparison would be much more interresting. Please post the actual numbers for each shot (for the iron shots).🙂
I have some thoughts about your comparison. I have trouble with the discrepancies between the two devices. First of all I would appreciate more discussion about the setup of each device. Are both devices level and where are they positioned? Are they both calibrated? Secondly have you tried evaluating two trackmans against each other to see if there are discrepancies between them. Likewise for for the Skytrak. This would give some reassurance to their consistency. Thirdly, can you tack a larger sample of shots and only compare shots with the same swing speeds. Then take an average and then compare. I know I’m being particular here, however your comparison is important to me in if intend to invest in one of these devices.

i imagine that is because it is hard to get both units aligned to the same target perfectly, pretty close though. we tend to use metallic dots on the balls for trackman to help it read the spin. i agree with the estimates
@@golfbaysofficial I might be wrong he but the alignment shouldn’t affect the spin axis just the angle that the ball start left/right? As I said I might be wrong 😊 yea it’s really hard to align different launch monitors.
@@3o1Golf you’re correct SA not affected by alignment. Quad vs tm often shows different ball flights indoors due to gear effect mainly, SGT review shows this
Question for you. Looking at the ball flights do you think you were 0.0 on path as Trackman says? There was movement and I don't think it was just face angle. To be 0.0 on 3 shots is amazingly consistent, let along with 6 shots and 2 different clubs. I am sure you are pretty consistent but that is next level. With driver your face was closed on average but Trackman said you were near 0.0 on path yet 2 out of the 3 balls went off to the right?!
Hi there, with the slight discrepancy in club path, this could be down to not being able to line up the 2 units perfectly to the same target as they sit in different spots in the room. However, we know the Trackman was lined up perfectly to target so the club path measurement is accurate. The reason for the ball going right with the driver with a closed face is because the shots were hit out of the heel of the club, Trackman has face impact location, so it measures this and applies appropriate gear effect, creating a left to right curvature when struck out of the heel, even with a face pointing left. Showing why it is so important to hit driver in the middle of the face.
Great comparison…how far from ball to screen are you set up with SkyTrak?

I would love to see comparison with Golfzon WAVE and Trackman!!

Great video, SKyTrak+ is phenomenal
It certainly is!!

What lamp are you using to the side ?
03:42 trackman shows a fade and the skytak+ a draw :)
Do you use rtc balls? ive never been a fan of the estimated spin from trackman
Great video!

How far away from the screen is your Skytrak+ setup? I think I’m under the misconception that it needs to be further back than it really does.

This is coming soon!!!
