  • This week, Ruth Rabinowitz, a farmland manager and owner in Madison County, joins us to discuss her four-year journey converting corn and soybean ground to mature Iowa prairie. We'll walk through the journey with photos, and she'll also touch on the challenges and growth of planting and tending to 280 Iowa native trees and shrubs through three years of drought conditions. Lastly, she'll touch on her sources of inspiration through the process and her hopes for the future as she continues to hone in on her "Why."
More on Ruth Rabinowitz: Ruth holds a BA in Art from the University of California Santa Cruz and a Permaculture Design Certificate. She has been managing her Oxbow Farmlands in Iowa and South Dakota since 2012. Her primary farmland goals are soil health, conservation of natural features of the landscape, and adding native Iowa grasses, forbes, trees, and shrubs to attract, feed, and house all things wild. She considers herself a land healer and prairie tender.
