Thank you for extra tips. Magnet was essential!!!. This was super helpful!! I am an amateur trying to save $$$ doing repairs myself.
For viewers: I saw other video regarding removing battery and disconnecting both negative and positive terminals of battery, and how to do that. (I am not experienced, so I dont want to risk shorting anything or causing more damage.) Negative (usually black, the "ground") is disconnected first, positive(red) is second. Then opposite order when reconnecting. Much more room on my 2006 Sienna when removing battery. Also once reconnecting battery, there was mention about resetting idle because idle may off/rough (because battery had been disconnected)--found other video for that. Also, cant remember if this video said it --but others said to check the two plastic heater valves (tees) while you are back in there as they may be brittle/broken --and can replace them with new plastic ones or a metal tees (carquest T84543).
Also before setting in new thermostat, wipe out around edge of metal housing it sits in --may have gunk/residue from old seal. Another video mentioned being sure the seal is set fully on thermostat correctly --there is a little ridge along inside of seal --you will see it. And wipe a little coolant around outside of seal before placing thermostat in housing. Also when setting in new thermostat, line up the "jiggle valve" (see top face of thermostat) with the top stud bolt. See article "How To Replace The Thermostat On A 2004-2006 Toyota Sienna" on shareyourrepair.com
And too clear up confusion, it appears this black plastic water inlet pipe/neck is sometimes called thermostat "outer housing" or just "housing" when you look up the part to buy it. The actual main part of thermostat housing is the metal structure the thermostat sits in.
**Great tip from article I mentioned above:
"Water inlet pipe wiring harness connector:
How to release this clip was a mystery to me at first but I figured it out and I’ll share… Stick a needle nose pliers with one end of the needle nose in each of the holes, as close together as possible, and then open the jaws of the needle nose pilers and pull off the connector"

The thermostat for 2007-2010 Siennas is not in the same location as here, it's on the opposite side of the engine

I believe the 2007 and newer have the 3.5L v6 and not the 3.3L as shown in this video. Big difference for sure.

That's a water/coolant inlet pipe. Thermostat housing would be the metal piece attached to the engine that the thermostat sits in.

You might consider changing the tee connectors to the heater as mine crumbled to pieces just like the thermostat housing!

Awesome guidelines brother. However, what you replaced is not the thermostat housing, its the water outlet. Great job though.

Toyota changed the engine in 2007 to the 3.5 l 2GR-FE V6. You are working on the 3.3 l engine.

This video only applies to the 04-06. The 07-10 is a different engine with an aluminum housing. For anyone doing this job just upgrade to the aluminum housing so this doesn't happen again. The part is less than $50 on eBay.

Coming from a guy whos always used Autozone fluids all my life never had any issue just gotta know the right kind to get for your specific brand and model. Same goes for say if your vehicle calls for "CVT" fluid dont attempt to just get plain universal transmission fluid youll regret it on the short- long run

I've looked for a long time to find out if there are two gaskets??? It is clear there is a gasket for the thermostat, but is there also one for the thermostat housing?

I have an issue with my 2010 sienna. My mechanic changed the fan, radiator, because the car was overheating. It still overheats and I have no heat. I have to drive not faster than 50 and went the needles reaches the danger zone, I shut the car off and let it cool for a minute or so.
What do you recommend? Curious and confused
