    Progress ABSOLUTELY beats perfectionism. I have this mantra of " *Something is better than nothing* " and it has worked wonders for building good habits and learning new things. Before that I said "If I'm doing it, I should do it perfectly" and I just failed at getting any better. But once I shifted my mindset, it was all suddenly a lot easier to get healthy, work out, learn a new language, etc.

      But if progress “absolutely” beats perfectionism, wouldn’t it have perfected the arts of perfectionism thus creating a paradox ?

    • @yahyawasim1994
      @yahyawasim1994 2 роки тому +4

      @@user-ki7qh5rc4h I like how you think funny man ;-). But nah, progress doesn't perfect the art of perfectionism because progress may be tangible but not fixed in its outcome, i.e. perfect, by virtue of result and definition. The perception of this paradox is subjective to how one perceives perfectionism to begin with - if you think perfectionism is absolute just like in what I've said above, then approaching progress > perfection may be incredibly difficult, since at least with perfectionism 100% is complete by a fixed time variable, if not an outcome-based variable as with progress (where 80% by a fixed time is OK).

You could have a fixed mindset about your personality, eg: I don't think I can change my anger issues. Great video Ali. The power of reframing and the word “YET” is life changing. Reframe from “I don’t know how to do this” to “I don’t know how to do this YET”. We also need to get past our fear of judgement or we may not even try the first attempt. Wanting to be perfect on our first go, or being worried people will laugh holds many people from their own potential greatness.

    Definitely really powerful working on Mindset. We have to start with our mindset to change our lives. If we are stuck in "we can't, it's impossible" mindset then that's exactly what will be delivered. If we move to anything is possible, and we just need to create actions every day towards it then, we start seeing results.

    After reading about the two mindset’s I began viewing people with a filter where I’d segregate them into one of the two mindset’s. And the amount of people I knew that had a fixed mindset was astonishing!

    Love the point on how much we value effort… and it’s so true that before anything becomes effortless and seemingly “natural” to us, for the vast majority of people, we first need to have put effort into it. Even if you were born with natural talent, if you don’t put in the effort to hone it daily, you’ll eventually lose that talent anyway. 👍

    Yea, having a growth mindset is useful in a ton of ways. Because when you are progressing at something it's difficult to see the changes that have been made. But after a while at the thing, when you look back, it seems as if after all it really was worth it. This seems kinda specific but I would say it applies to a lot of things. Such as maybe someone trying to put on muscle or someone trying to get better grades or learning digital art, etc.
    I believe that I should improve at this because, I have a fixed mindset when it comes to a lot of things.
    Congratulations on 2 mil subs, btw!

    Really good book! We have to constantly be growing in life, no matter on what that is. Our mind, body, career, our bank account etc.. In nature there's no stagnation. I've heard people say "what doesn't grow eventually dies." That being said, we should take our time and enjoy the process! :)

    so true about the manager - I think people underestimate how much time does people management require, esp. if you want to grow the team in the right way. Even two hours for the feedback may sometimes not be enough! :)

    Very nice video! Good life lesson. Maybe a tip or just my approach in taking failure as a learning opportunity. When doing a task be aware of what you're learning what steps you took and what information you learned. To say afterwards "ah but at least we learnt something!" is more abstract than when you can point out what you did learn. Not only to cope with failure but also what did and what did not work. (It also makes an evaluation afterwards easier)
