My favorite place in the world. Old lady now, so I can't do much, but I was emotional watching you! Thanks for this video; I miss this country so much!
Nice. Just did a similar circuit but start in falls, grey hills, quartz, Ropers back to falls. Like you had perfect weather. Recommend hike across cross cut saw and camp on top of Mt speculation.
How did either of you find Quartz ridge. I've only done the options up from Mountain Creek, or Cleve Cole, and was thinking of going up from Mt. Beauty via Quartz, but I don't want to do anything too hairy in terms of climbing (as opposed to walking).
@@JamesRowlandsRocks there is no scrambling or climbing on quartz ridge. It would be the same difficulty as the Staircase. I wouldn’t do it if visibility was minimal or it was blowing a gale.
@@JamesRowlandsRocks BTAC cleared Big River Saddle to Mt. Wills AAWT a few years back. The blackberries at the bottom are growing back so cover up your legs and arms. The Long Spur foot track is clear all the way to the Long spur 4 wd track. After that the 4 wd track is clear all the way to Big River Saddle.
My brother and I and my dad did that in 2 days, up Eskdale spur and down Staircase spur. I was 12 and my brother was 10 years of age, and dad was 38. (3 times my age when I was 13)
Thanks for putting this up. This is a really nice video and I was searching for information on Bogong because I will do the same solo track myself. I found this quite informative. I was just wondering though, how safe is your van in the car park where you left it? I know you said it was fine but have you heard of people's cars being tampered with their?
Glad it was helpful! My blog has a more in depth guide to this exact hike that might help as well. But yes, it's a perfectly safe carpark/campground to leave any car. People always leave cars here for the day, overnight or longer and generally it's okay. Just don't leave any valuables visible I guess!
Nice video Elisha - I've walked down into Big River many times and yeah it's a bit tough. I was up on Mt Bogong at the end of last year so good see other people going out there. Also what if you saying what you featured @14:07 as Howman's Falls that's not correct. The real falls are little further down and much bigger. Still a nice video.
Thanks! Yeah I did walk to the end of Howmans Falls, where the long drop is down over the escarpment, but I didn't film it, mostly because I saw 2 snakes sitting there on the edge so I didn't hang around haha

Thank you. It really is a special part of the world.

Nice one! I've heard Grey Hills is a nice alternative. Yep, the Viking Circuit is on the list!

@@highdeck ok nice. I think I'll give it a go. I've done Staircase in deep snow and that was testing my limits. But the snow has mostly melted now.
Very nice. Ropers hut is one of my favorite huts in the Australian Alps.
Definitely, it's such a nice spot!
donno if there is some snow left, but iam goin tonight, 09 Sep 23😊 … nice video btw
Awesome stuff. My favourite mountain and favourite loop.
goin up tomorow night .. hoping for good sunrise...😊
We( BTAC and Parks Vic. ) cleared Duane spur and most of the Tee Spur in Oct. 2023. It is a super highway now.
How about the track towards Mt. Wills from Cleve Cole. Any idea what condition that is in?

Wow.Nice one!!! We did Bogong in last summer. ❤❤❤❤. Keep it up. All the best!!!!

Awesome!
Great to see you back out there.
Thank you!
Great effort Elisha!
Big River Saddle to Mt. Wills Summit Hut is possibly harder than the Tee spur.
Beautiful hike & gave me confidence to plan a solo multiday hike!
So glad to hear it! Hope it goes well
Wow, you are 🤩 super
Just stumbled across this video. Loved it! 2 new subscribers :)
Thank you!
Great video about my favourite Mountain, but I recommend Eskdale Spur or Granite flat Spur. Staircase Spur is too hard.
Yes, I've also done Eskdale Spur, but it would've added on a few kilometres so decided to stick with the Staircase!
I prefer Mulhauser spur and Long Spur. That is my favourite route . The Tee spur is a slog.

"I'm so fucking happy right now" hahaha chuck that on a shirt! Great video!
Great must do this sometime 😅
Thanks for the experience. I am doing the AAWT in spring and can’t wait.
Amazing! Good luck out there, I'm planning on doing it next year 😊
@@elishadonkin are you still planning to start the AAWT?
Beautiful video and hike, thank you for sharing, have liked and subscribed :)
Awesome, thank you!
Great video. Thanks

Thanks for sharing what an amazing hike - What month did you do this
Thank you! It was early Feb 2023 - my blog post has all the details.
