Baw Baw Overnight Hike - Solo Hiking from Baw Baw Village to Mushroom Rocks
Overnight hike from Baw Baw Village to Mushroom Rocks with side trips to Whitelaw Hut Ruins and Mt St Gwinear
I headed up to Baw Baw National Park in February to complete this solo overnight hike along the Australian Alps Walking Track (AAWT) from Baw Baw Village. I camped at Saint Phillack Saddle after completing an out and back hike to Whitelaw Hut Ruins. The following day I walked down to Mushroom Rocks via Mt St Gwinear and Mount Erica.
I had pretty nice weather and didn't see a single soul out there on trail. This is a perfect overnight hike for beginners, solo hikers, or those looking to experience the alpine region not too far from Melbourne.

Spion Kopje to Ropers Hut Overnight Hike at Falls Creek I decided to take my parents on a pretty challenging overnight hike at Falls Creek, including an ascent of Spion Kopje Track to Roper's Hut, one of my favourite High Country huts. The following day we headed out to Falls Creek via Mount Nelse and Heathy Spur Track on the Australian Alps Walking Track. Plenty of things went wrong. We left t...

The final chapter of my 55-day thru hike of the Heysen Trail in South Australia, the longest walking trail in the country. This section saw me leaving the Adelaide Hills and finally making it down onto the Fleurieu Peninsula for the last section to Cape Jervis. We had a few days of consistent rain after Bridgewater that left parts of the trail and campgrounds flooded. But we had to push on. Dan...

Part 6 of my 55-day thru hike of the Heysen Trail in South Australia, the longest walking trail in the country. This section saw me leaving the Mid North region and heading into the Adelaide Hills. The rain continued on and off in this section; with the end of this video showing the first of a 4-5 day stretch off consistent rain that left parts of the trail flooded. Daniel, Jonathan and I were ...

Part 5 of my 55-day thru hike of the Heysen Trail in South Australia, the longest walking trail in the country. This section saw me continuing through the Mid North of South Australia from Burra to Rossiters Hut, just outside of Tanunda. The weather continued to give me grief, with only a couple of nice days interspersed with freezing nights and windy and rainy days. Daniel, Jonathan and I left...

Part 4 of my 55-day thru hike of the Heysen Trail in South Australia, the longest walking trail in the country. This section saw me entering the Mid North of South Australia from Crystal Brook down to Burra via Spalding, through plenty of farmland, rolling hills and conservation parks. I still seemed to get lots of rain and windy conditions, with only a couple of sunny days in between. I also c...

Part 3 of my 55-day thru hike of the Heysen Trail in South Australia, the longest walking trail in the country. This section saw me crossing the Southern Flinders Ranges from Quorn, down to Melrose and into Crystal Brook. With a dramatic landscape change from the rocky, dry outback to the lush, green farmland of the Mid North. The trail really starts to change from Melrose onwards, with more pr...
Four Day Mount Bogong Circuit - Solo Hike
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
Mount Bogong Circuit Hike This incredible four day loop up and around Mount Bogong in the Alpine National Park is both challenging and insanely beautiful. I was incredibly fortunate with the weather, despite a freak summer storm dumping quite a bit of snow around the alpine peaks for the few days prior, I managed to get four days of perfect conditions. Seeing the summit of Bogong under snow was...
Overnight Hike to Lake Tali Karng

In January, we set off from McFarlane Saddle in the Alpine National Park on an overnight hike to Lake Tali Karng. We crossed the Wellington Plains and camped at Nyimba Camp on the first day. Then, we hiked down to the lake and back via the Gillios Track, before walking out via Millers Hut (we car shuffled for this) on the second day. This is a popular two day hike in Victoria's High Country and...

Part 2 of my 55-day thru hike of the Heysen Trail in South Australia, the longest walking trail in the country. This section saw me tackling the toughest part of the trail from Hawker to Quorn in the Flinders Ranges, with long days, rocky creek beds and steep climbs. Over these 13 minutes, I seem quite miserable and in pain, and looking back it really was the toughest part of the trail for me b...

Take a look at what it was like to thru-hike the Heysen Trail in South Australia: the longest walking trail in the country at 1200-km long, stretching from Parachilna in the Flinders Ranges to Cape Jervis on the Fleurieu Peninsula. This is part 1: the start of my 55-day journey from the northern trailhead at Parachilna to Hawker over my first week on trail. Stay tuned for part 2! If you want to...
Surviving the heat on the Southern Walks in Nitmiluk National Park

Solo hiking the Southern Walks to Eighth Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park outside of Katherine in the Northern Territory. I faced an uncharacteristic heat wave in the middle of the dry season in August 2021 with temperatures over 40 degrees for my three day hike. What I thought was going to be a very unique way to see Katherine Gorge turned out to be a real challenge. I suffered mild heat stroke...
Mount Bogong Hike via Staircase Spur and Eskdale Spur

A short video from our day hiking Mount Bogong in the Alpine National Park. We started from Mountain Creek Road and ascended via Staircase Spur to the summit, before descending via Eskdale Spur and walking back along the road to make a full loop. The 18km day hike to the highest peak in Victoria requires a 1282m ascent which is one of the most challenging trails in the state, if not all of Aust...
Hiking the Jatbula Trail in Northern Territory as a solo female hiker
Переглядів 2,8 тис.2 роки тому
This video documents my 5-day journey along the iconic Jatbula Trail in Nitmiluk National Park. The incredible 62km long trek through a remote part of the Northern Territory’s Top End is one of the most sought-after hikes in Australia. I was lucky enough to score a last-minute permit late in the hiking season. It’s notorious for unbearably hot conditions and I faced temperatures in the high 30s...
