I mostly know manhandela from Hyrule Warriors as one of the bosses that can spawn. In that game most bosses have an item weakness that you must use at specific points in order to make the boss vulnerable. Dodongo is bombs Argorok is the hookshot Helmaroc is the hammer The exceptions are phantom ganon and the imprisoned. Anyway, when fighting a Manhandla they are invincible, coated in thick silvery leafs and will spit seeds, bite at you and spew poison. During some of these attacks the heads will turn green bringing their defenses down to attack, while they're green you must hit them with the boomerang to knock out a head, once all heads are knocked out the central bud will unfurl revealing its core making it vulnerable, from there you'll wail on till either its weak-point gauge empties and you'll unleash a big attack or it furls back up and you repeat. As it's health gets lower it'll get more attacks in the form of flailing its heads around while moving quickly and mortar shots where it'll fire a big seed into the air that's aim towards you. Just rinse and repeat till it's dead and you'll get some rupees and possibly a crafting material. If you have trouble with any bosses in HW and your magic guage is full you can use the special magic attack to instantly make any boss vulnerable, as long as it can touch the boss since argorok can fly and the attack can miss them if not timed properly.
That’s really cool information! I’ll definitely add in the Manhandla and might even add in the Dodongo’s information to the video, I played a tiny bit of Hyrule Warriors and never had time to finished it! The visual you gave on the Manhandla however is pretty cool, I’ll have to look it up and watch the fight! Thank you for the additional information!! 😋💕
No problem, HW has alot of fan service for zelda fans including Bow-Wow as part of one of Link's weapons. Age of calamity is based more on botw so there's quite a few similarities there as well.
Glad you mentioned this. I was going to say that it was in Hyrule Warriors. While it’s a spinoff and not a mainline game, it is an example of the boss being in a 3D game at least.
This video is so relaxing. Your calm voice reading out the titles of all the games really puts my mind at ease. I think it’s the repetition of reading these titles in the same tone of voice over and over that makes me so sleepy. Either way, this seems like a nice series that I will have to look into more.
Same, even though there aren’t a lot of quotes in that game it’s pretty funny to see some of them especially the “you broke my door, pay me”… like bro I’m sorry you decided to make a secret house where I’m looking for shops and free rupees 😂😂
The original Tektites were the best. A mob of easy to dispatch randomness is fun and that area at 1:01 you showed in the video is kind of my first and favorite rupee farming area. Just run back and forth on the screens in that area/ a few screens away to the right if you need to respawn them.
Manhandla is a 3D boss in the original Hyrule Warriors, well worth checking out if you've never seen it in action. It does have different mechanics of course, being a warriors game - it doesn't shoot fireballs at you, but instead bombs your allied base, which arguably makes it even more of a threat as if your base falls you lose the battle. I also found it a pain to take down, as you can only damage it after you knock out each of its heads (hands?) which can only be done with the boomerang when a head/hand happens to open its mouth. But it was nice to see it get some attention for the first time in decades! Hyrule Warriors also includes the Twilight Princess Darknuts and the Skyward Sword Moblins as mid-tier enemies, so whilst it is a very different type of game to mainline Zelda, that could be worth noting.
I played a little into Hyrule Warriors, but I wasn’t super into it. I plan on finishing it but I haven’t really had time, BUT I’ll definitely add in the Manhandla to the final video but I would have to visually see the Moblins and Darknut in action to decide if they should be in the video! Thank you for this additional info! 😋💕
The magical rod hurts every enemy except for wizzrobes (only a sword and bombs hurt them), dodongo (only bombs and then a sword attack if place correctly can kill them), and Ganon. You have to hit the enemies with the rod itself, and not the projectile. It's also possible to move around while attacking if you press the sword and item button together when you have the rod equipped. Oh, and my favorite enemy from The Legend of Zelda is the Pols Voice. 👻
Landing that perfect bomb placement on Manhandla is just so satisfying. I remember losing my mind the first time I did it. Afterwards I sometimes preferred to draw the fight out until they get really fast and then you gotta hope your bomb stock lasts long enough to land that lucky hit that does them in.
Yoooo Great Moblin is one of my favorite boss fights! Such a unique fight, too. It's a straight up bomb throwing competition as you get to chuck loads of them back and forth to each other's side of the room until one side loses and (iirc) the floor collapses beneath them. He's also not your arbitrary "placed by Ganon to guard a treasure in a sequestered cavern, guarded by puzzles" boss, but a petty tyrant who makes himself king of particular area, enforcing his tinpot rule with his moblin guards, and talks smack to you when you go face him. And when you beat him, his reign is over. But his story doesn't end there. He packs up shop and moves somewhere else where he and his minions try to build back their funds by cultivating bomb flowers. Which you can sneak in and detonate, blowing up their whole operation a second time. And you can do it again, too! Eventually, they even start to catch on if you keep doing it, and start trapping you in the house so you are caught in the explosion instead. The Oracle games are extremely underrated for their more unique plot and design decisions, as well as their creative callbacks to older games. Thanks for giving this rarely mentioned gem a shoutout.
I think you might have just sold me on giving them a try! I have played 16/20 main games to the end the only ones that haven’t played or finished are the Oracle games, majorias mask, and windwaker! So I’ll give it try just to battle the great Moblin 🤣💕
@@Bashfulday Oh man, those four are going to be quite the treat! WW might have the best gameplay and replay value of any Zelda game, as well as the best exploration besides maybe BOTW. The Oracle games are also extremely unique and memorable, both focus on different kinds of gameplay (action vs puzzle), and have really good characters and fascinating settings. An MM is like a fever dream that you can't ever fully wrap your head around, but gets more interesting the more you explore and think about it. The Great Moblin is in both the Oracle games, but each handles it differently, which makes both worth trying. Apparently though, if you link the games through a GBA, he remembers you from the first time you beat him. There's so much thought put into those games!
When I get the chance I’m going to play them on stream so you guys can help me out if needed (it will very much be needed🤣)! Hopefully all of them can be finished in one sitting, I tend to play pretty fast so I feel like I should be able to but 🤷🏽♀️😂
I'm watching this on my lunch break @ work so I don't a lot of time, but I just wanted to say that it was a real treat seeing your video pop up in my feed because I have been enjoying this series so immensely. You've done another amazing job and I encourage you to continue on because you make really good videos. Thank you for the time and energy and dedication that it takes for you to make these videos I appreciate that. Keep up the amazing work.
I can't believe that it's ending ;-; one more to go then, I already said that. but you're amazing! your style is quite unique and fun to watch, you have such an attention with the details, also your editing is incredible, you're for sure one of my favorite chanel's already! do you think that the series can continue with Zelda 2 enemies? 👀
Thank you so much, that means the world to me!! 💕I considered doing a video on each of the games going over the enemies but where they come from instead of if they developed unless they started in that game, in that case where it went as well. on the other hand I fear that might be repetitive so I have to toy with the idea some more!
Facing the Gleeok in the 2nd dungeon of the 2nd quest was straight up terrifying! That was a good indication that the 2nd quest was not messing around lol
Yay another one of these! Now I get to flood you with minutiae and corrections 1:39 those are actually called Hovers. The localization was feeling weird when they tried to call those tektites. The name's obvious, they hover over the water. It's funny how moriblins have 'mori' in their name, for forest, and originally appeared in forests.. which Ocarina kinda brought back.. but most of the time they are just _everywhere enemies._ and it's even weirder that they're depicted so inconsistently. Sometimes the pig ones are Butablin, but other times those are just called Moriblin despite being piggy. The localization used to say pigblin, but they decided boarblin sounded better.. they really don't care about contradicting themselves lol. 6:35 interesting idea, I suppose dragons are dragons.. but to me it seemed clear Nardobrear ("Argorok") was the adult form of the dragon-type Kargoroks (while the bird-type Kargorocs grow up into Sieg Roc ("Helmaroc"). But maybe not, those could just be its "pilotfish" that spend time around it. Darknuts are one of those where I get why they changed the name, "Tartknuck" just sounds a bit too silly. But they didn't keep that up, and you lose the connection to the IronKnuck and others like the Bombknuck ("mad bomber") and Hammerknuck ("Darkhammer"). "Manhandla" is similar, the real name being Testitart.. That's just.. they would never have gotten away with that in the US hehe. They DID get to be in 3D once, but only in the first Musou/"Warriors" game. And it looked much more like the Degutitart from Four Swords, which got localized as "big manhandla"
I always look forward to seeing your comments! I think after seeing some other comments, I might add in the “knuck”s in to the final video along with the darkhammer! I was very shocked to see that Argorok wasn’t a Gleeok myself! I always assumed they would be the same lineage, I mean how many other dragons do you see in the series like that?? I also thought about saying the water tektites as hovers because that’s what me and my dad called them but I didn’t see anything about that name online so I just went with a default haha. I agree with the Moblins thing, they kinda just show up anywhere now and look how they want, but BotW and TotK kinda mad them morph into one with their new look! Also for the Manhandla I have never played Hyrule Warriors so I had no idea about them appearing in that game but I’ll definitely be adding them in to the final video! Thank you so much for this!! 🥰💕
Fun fact: Did you know that "Tektite" is also the name of a type of rock formed when a meteorite hits the Earth? Moldavite, and Agni Manitite are a couple of examples.
I saw a UA-cam video where someone redesigned a Darknut in the BOTW and TOTK style and they modeled Darknuts after dogs from Wind Waker. It was pretty cool-looking. 😅
Moblin’s “breed” most of the time is variating between actual Moblins and Borblins. Which is why some of them look like piggies and others like bulldogs! 😋 They are one of the only consistent race of enemies to maintain their name even through their appearance changes quite a lot!
Darknuts most definitely made an impression on me. How? Imagine being a child and your very first "meeting" with a Darknut is the Halfway Boss in Wind Waker's tower of the Gods. That was intimidating. About Manhandla and how it could be implemented in 3D. They already did that in Hyrule Warriors. Though they have reworked how it works completely.
Darknuts are definitely not easy enemies especially if you’re not expecting them or have never seen them before! I highly doubt if I was to replay TP rn I could defeat their Darknut in one go, they are so OP it’s insane! Also I plan on adding the HW Manhandla into the final video, I didn’t know so many people liked this version so much 😂😋💕
There are a LOT of the main enemies in that crossover, there was for sure fellow Zelda nerds involved or Nintendo sent some valued employees over to help! 🤩
Not related to this video but Wolfos an enemy that appears in 3D Zelda games are going to make their 2D appearance in Echoes of Wisdom as well as Deku Babas who will also appear in their 2D debate as well. Teehee. Hope for part 6 to come out soon.
Yes! I can’t wait to get my breakdown of echoes of wisdom enemy’s we have seen in the trailers video out! I’m going to be doing a pretty direct breakdown of the enemies, races and regions in Hyrule, and my take on small theory’s I have! It’s going to be broken up into 3 parts but all posted before release date of course! 🤩😋
Zols and Darknuts are my favorite enemies of the video. Original Zols are best, Chu-Chus, as I said before just don't feel the same to me. Sometimes I wish that instead of remixing foes over and over again we just got new types of enemies added to the entire roster to fight every game, that way everyone gets to fight their favorite enemy somewhere. Maybe every game is a bit much, but it could be a nice thing for the next open world Zelda. A bit of variety for their worlds that don't really feel like they have enough going on. Every enemy ever would destroy that argument.
I thought about that! I have had two or three people ask for the items, and what was new in each game in like a lengthy video 🤔 I will definitely do the items from the original! 🤩
Zols and Gels are very interesting and I would have loved to see them in Minish Cap. Maybe the remake can add them and make them cute in 3D. I’ll maybe ask a friend of mine to create a 3D Models of Zols and Gels in The Minish Cap style 😅
They made models of the gels they were going to use but decided not to, they are the same as the ones as a previous game! I’m kinda perplexed that the Zols in EoW didn’t split into gels 🤔
They are by far my favorite Zelda enemy for a miniboss/ hard enemy! I have other enemies for other categories but that’s my favorite miniboss by far! 😋
I always felt that the guardians in BOTW aesthetically look a bit like Tektites... except that they have twice the legs and are more mechanical than insect like. And Guardians have a lot more HP and can fire Lazers at you from a mile away....IDK The guardians are kind of a combination of Tektites and Bemos with the fear factor cranked up to 11! 🤣 The Staldra in Skyward Sword is another three headed dragon similar to a Gleeok. They aren't too difficult to defeat except that you have to kill all three heads at the same time and the motion controls sometimes are hard to aim strikes at the right angle. I often get Darknuts and Iron Knuckles confused. They are somewhat similar.
I completely agree with the guardian 🤣 might add them into the final video haha! I did actually forget about the staldra I’ll have to do a little research on them they are kinda a mix between gleeoks and Stalfos! The Darknuts and Iron kunckles I like to think are part of the same army just different training 🤔
There are a lot of armored enemies in the series that get combined in with the darknuts but are later integrations of other soldier enemy types! In the final video I'm going to address this. 😋
I think the manhandla is also in Hyrule Warriors with a more Deku Baba style than the original. It looks more like just a Deku Baba plant with 4 Baba heads.
I wonder if baris from LTP could be considered a zol variant. The only enemies I really like seeing appear are lynels, darknuts and the horsehead guys from LTP, but I don't think they've ever reappeared.
Baris could definitely be considered Zols or Buzz blobs but there is no historical lineage between them sadly. I am curious as to what enemy you are referring to with a horse head haha!
To my knowledge they are the only game that has friendly Moblins, it doesn’t make much sense but over the years there have been other enemies that are friendly. Of course it’s an outlier not the whole enemy group is good!
It's sad Gleeok has been in so few games, especially not in Twilight Princess. Can you imagine how they would look in that game, especially if they doubled it up with a twilight phase of the fight? Darknuts depend on the game, with Twilight Princess being especially terrifying of an enemy. But the Wind Waker ones, not so much, as that game was a little bit too much "push A now to win" at times.
I haven’t played Wind Waker, I plan to on stream for the first time… BUT I have seen tons of speed runs on WW and it seems that most of the game is pretty much RNG so if something sucks you can just reenter a room and try again haha! In saying that I have no experience with the Darknut from WW but they do look very sleek and nice! I was shocked to find out that Argorok (TP dragon) wasn’t actually a Gleeok! I can agree with you however on if Gleeoks did appear in TP, they would be beautiful but also an absolute nightmare for a battle it would be very difficult but fun! 🤩
Given that the games darknuts are in are some of the more prominent ones, and a lot of the games they arent in have some sort of counterpart, i would argue they did survive. Brainwashed knights take their place in LttP and LBW, and iron knuckles take their place in zelda 2, oot and mm. It would not be far less surprisning to me if the next game featured darknuts in some way than if they brought zols or gels back for instance. Even enemies that are more common but havent many 3d incarnations i would label as less prominent, like gibdos, having only appeared in OOT and MM in 3d, but appearing in most 2d games. Theyre technically in less games, but redeads appear more prominently.
I agree with you to the Brainwashed nights and Iron Knuckles are close to Darknuts but for this video I was just doing the history of Darknuts. I was even going to add in the Darkhammer from TP as well but I wanted to stick to the name Darknut! I agree with you, most of the 2D enemies stay with the 2D games, there are only a handful that actually made it all the way through or more than 10 games out of the 20 main games, it’s kinda sad… 😪
I always felt the key difference is one is possessed people, the other is possessed suits of armor.. but as usual, WindTakt throws a huge cel-shaded wrench into that by making them doggy guys
You missed an appearance of Darknuts in Four Swords Adventures. Though theres a LOT of stuff to discuss with Darknuts given theyre very relevant to the lore of later games Also, Manhandalla being a Piranha Plant does mean they have a confirmed connection to Deku Babas but not as blatantly in the West
I didn’t see FSA with the darknuts! I like to think if Manhandlas and deku babas are related Deku Babas are the baby versions of the Manhandla, but they are rarely seen together on games 🤷🏽♀️ 😂
@@Bashfulday Manhandallas and Deku Babas are never seen together outside of Hyrule Warriors I think. This is likely owed to Piranha Plants being established as the evolution of Deku Babas where Zelda lore is concerned and Manhandalla only showing up later in the timeline after essentially they all evolved into Piranha Plants. Piranha Plants are baby Manhandallas if anything which the Game Boy Color games really show off with the Oracle of Seasons Manhandalla. And yes, Darknuts are in FSA, and that opens up a huge discussion because Darknuts have about as much lore added to them by the rest of the series as Zoras get so maybe it's best suited for Reddit?
Yes and no, no I’m not necessarily waiting to post episode 6, but once the game releases in the final video will be a long video with all of parts together with “corrections” and additions I plan to add Echoes of wisdom in the final video if the enemy appears in the game! I know some of them in fact do, and I’m so happy about it! 😁
I’m pretty sure I have it, I just never got around to playing it 😪😂 From what I heard it has a 3D Manhandla I need to check out anyway, so I might play it soon!

@@Bashfulday Mmhmm in an alternative timeline Chain Chomps are Zelda Enemies instead of a Mario enemy
I somehow still hate Lynels way more than Gleeoks, I always end up laying on the ground and getting on their back seems to take a bit of luck.
I have a long time grudge with Lynels, so I absolutely agree with you! 😭😂
I like this series. Great idea.
Thank you! 🥰
Also I plan on adding the HW Manhandla into the final video, I didn’t know so many people liked this version so much 😂😋💕
I'm starting to realize just how faithful Cadence of Hyrule is to the OG games (Cadence of Hyrule is my most played zelda game)
@@Bashfulday Good I can't wait to see them soon.
Manhandla is in Hyrule Warriors as one of the boss types of that game iirc
About the Manhandla, if you consider Hyrule Warriors to be a Legend of Zelda side game, then the Manhandla has been in a 3D Zelda game.
I plan on putting it in the final video, I didn’t know so many people wanted it in with the manhandla 😂
For some reason I imagined a Zelda game that has EVERY enemy in a Zelda game… that would be so fun, but extremely difficult! 🤔🤔
After you do all the monsters, do the items!
@@Bashfulday Yeah, that one is weird. Maybe it's too hard to make echoes out of little Gels.
My fav enemy is Gannon from “A Link to the Past” in that pyramid 😆
This is probably my favorite version of Ganon in general! 🤩
Also, 8:46 it took the Darknuts 18 years to return in a mainland Zelda game 😜
They are by far my favorite Zelda enemy for a miniboss/ hard enemy! I have other enemies for other categories but that’s my favorite miniboss by far! 😋
@@Bashfulday Mine too. Fighting them was hard on Wii. I can not imagine fighting them on Wii U. lol
Can’t wait for the next video. Zelda 2 enemies did they survive? Teehee 😅
It would be a short 4 minute video 🤣
@@Bashfulday short but good the third Zelda game might give us more Zelda enemies in other games 🤣👏
A link to the past is probably my favorite Zelda game tied with Twilight Princess! 😋🤩
@@Bashfulday Awesome!
The Staldra in Skyward Sword is another three headed dragon similar to a Gleeok.
The perfect series to binge while walking a dog
I hope the puppy had a good walk! 💕
@@BashfuldayShe did, was able to get through a few of these. I didn’t realize how few games darknuts were actually in
There are a lot of armored enemies in the series that get combined in with the darknuts but are later integrations of other soldier enemy types! In the final video I'm going to address this. 😋
@@BashfuldayI’m excited to see when it comes out 😊
I think the manhandla is also in Hyrule Warriors with a more Deku Baba style than the original.
@@Bashfulday the guys in dark dungeon 4
I guess the original Zelda had the only friendly Moblins unless I wasn't paying attention/forgot something.
When BOTW came out, I admit I was disappointed in what the new moblin design looks like.
I wasn’t expecting the look they went for, but they have changed a little over the years. I mean look at the one from SS… that guy is huge! 🤣
Zols also appear in Phantom Hourglass ☝️🤓
I know gels appear in PH, but I’m not sure if Zols do. I could be wrong however haha!
@@Bashfulday they're practically zols lmao
You missed an appearance of Darknuts in Four Swords Adventures. Though theres a LOT of stuff to discuss with Darknuts given theyre very relevant to the lore of later games
Also, Manhandalla being a Piranha Plant does mean they have a confirmed connection to Deku Babas but not as blatantly in the West
For sure, I want all the details!!
you might want to add pt in front of the 5 again, because my first thought while reading this was "did it survive OoT, not _part_ 5 :D
Oof, sorry about that haha!
Are you waiting for Echoes of Wisdom to release before you finish this?
Yes and no, no I’m not necessarily waiting to post episode 6, but once the game releases in the final video will be a long video with all of parts together with “corrections” and additions I plan to add Echoes of wisdom in the final video if the enemy appears in the game! I know some of them in fact do, and I’m so happy about it! 😁
@@Bashfulday Thanks for telling me! I'm excited for what you're going to say about Ganon!
Play hyrule warriors!
I’m pretty sure I have it, I just never got around to playing it 😪😂 From what I heard it has a 3D Manhandla I need to check out anyway, so I might play it soon!
