Thank you for the excellent information. These errors occurred when I was cutting with the electrostatic base. The base, for some reason, turned off, and the paper moved out of place. I felt more at ease knowing that this happens to other people. Thank you!
Great information, as always - thanks! Removing designs and leftovers from cutting cardstock can be so frustrating and time consuming. Not to mention the sticky residue. Cute cards btw!
I use the preset for Textured Cardstock and then test cut. Blade sharpness, brand of cardstock, color of cardstock, humidity, etc. are all factors that can affect cut settings and cut ability.
thank you for the video! can you do sticker cutting video with ES Mat? mine started drifting midway and I've tried to tape, rearranged the paper, calibrated and it still does it :(
@@SilhouetteSecrets Yes I tried all default settings but the result is still the same sadly. It only works when I send the file multiply times (so it registers several times) and let it cut in sections I just hope it's software issue not hardware issue because ES Mat really speed up my work (I have sticker small business)
I have a Curio 2 and the electrostatic mat just doesn't hold the card stock well enough. Yes, I rub it down with my hands. I have to tape the edges and sometimes follow the blade with my fingers to keep the card stock down flat. It's so frustrating because the Curio 2 was EXPENSIVE. = /
Make sure that the height detection is getting an accurate reading. I prefer to do the height detection manually so I can see the actual number it is reading and I will take that reading in several locations on the cardstock so I can see it. If the height detection, does not read properly for the material, it can apply additional force when it goes to cut. Test cuts are the best way to know what will work for your machine and material, but the design itself can also affect it. Pieces can shift during the cut if the charge is broken between the material and the protective sheet. Small pieces can shift easier since there is less surface area for the charge to be maintained on. I started with the Curio 2 Electrostatic Mat as that was the first one available and have cut quite a bit with it as well as the Silhouette Cameo 5 ES Mat.

@@SilhouetteSecrets Thank you. I have already watched most of them, but discovered a few that I did not know about. As far as the classes - I am retired and don't have the extra money to spend, so I'll continue to watch UA-cam. I'll watch them and practice some more. Thank you for your quick response.
Thank you! I have been wanting to see more on the ES mat.
