    If you like boat work, then this video is for you :) Last week left us riding high having just accomplished our rigging project. We’re feeling closer than ever to casting the lines and setting sail. But there is one elephant in the room, and that is Boundless’ booty. She’s sat at the dock for way too long now and in the tropical heat. Her hull desperately needs some work.
    We do all of the work ourselves, to save the money on labor. This means hours and hours of grinding away as fast as we can so we don't have to pay for more days in the yard than necessary. Let's make it count!
    Grab a drink, grab a snack, and buckle in for 4 days of what we like to call the BOATYARD BOOGIE.
    Enjoy!

    Top tip is to spray diluted household bleach on to the hull when it’s lifted out, leave it 10 minutes, then the barnacles just drop off! I’ve used this method many times and it makes to whole process so much easier. Go Boundless

    If you sail around a little, most of it just comes off. Having it cleaned is the same price, but it’s less embarassing! 😂

    MIGRAINES!!! I live in sweltering, sunny Florida. Smart move getting wrap around sunglasses! I learned to keep my head cool by pouring cool water over my head periodically, keeping my hair wet, thereby wicking heat out of my skull. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I hope this helps. Love y’all ❤

    Katy, my wife takes imitrex. A gallon of antifouling here is between $100-$300. We use the bleach technique as well and it works. Great job guys, she looks marvelous, simply marvelous.

    Katy, as someone who suffers badly from the heat and gets heat induced bad headaches that go into migraines, I found the best way to stop it or at least delay it, if I was to spend a lot of time in the sun, is to have a broad brimmed hat that is loose around the temples and on the scalp and possibly needed a chin strap to hold it on. Also, you can get them with a flap that hangs down the sides and the back and when it gets really hot, wet the flap. The wet flap then helps keep the neck and scalp cool for a while longer. I could never wear a baseball styled cap. They were too tight on my scalp and of course never kept any sun off my whole neck and head.

    • @SailingSeawind
      @SailingSeawind  7 місяців тому

      Thank you for the tip! We have buffs that we can wet and put over our necks/heads. We will give that a try 😊

    On/Off Hull cleaner next time instead of the acid. Does the same thing but far far better. It wont eat into anything and it will make all the barnacle bases REALLY soft. and then you can just wipe them off.

    MIGRAINE.... as I'm sure you know, people get migraines due to the weirdest things - I'm a full time sailor and I used to get absolutely debilitating, want to kill yourself migraines, thought it was the sun but turned out to be tyramine, it's in all aged/pickled foods and a bunch of other stuff - might be an idea to have a read about tyramine as it might not be what you think it is. As soon as I cut it out, my migraines disappeared 100%, it was life changing - might be worth a shot!
