I’m starting private lessons as a 68 year-old male. A bit crazy, BUT it’s incredibly fun and it feels great. I’m definitely feeling improved balance and flexibility and, as you emphasize, I’m much more in touch with my body. The physical limitations are what they are, but it’s so rewarding just to do my best. I LOVE these videos because they’re so relatable and helpful. Thank you!
That’s FABULOUS!!!! I’m so happy you have found ballet and are enjoying the myriad of benefits it offers in addition to the FUN! Also so delighted you’re enjoying my videos! Thank you 🙏🩰✨🥰
You are the most gentle and kind ballet teacher I've ever seen. Thank you! I'm 28 and ready to start again. I "gave up" my dream of ballet as a child, not sure why... but it's always been in the back of my mind. Like I have a ballerina hiding within my soul.
I'm 29 and so eager to start learning ballet! I think I'm falling in love with it just by looking at the beautiful choreographies professional dancers and companies put on stages! I wish I had started earlier in my life, but my friends and this video and your comment are just what I need to strengthen my decision to learn ballet, now. :)
@@tavohernndezTvInc That is amazing! I just turned 29 myself, and I really believe its never too late to start something new. Good luck and enjoy learning ballet! 🧚♀️
I put my daughter in a local mini-class for older beginners, ages 10+. The first couple sessions seemed pretty good, but as it progressed, I became more and more disappointed. I have no ballet background, and my daughter was really struggling in the class, so I went to the internet to try to supplement at home. That's how I found your channel, and learned that her class was not a good fit. They never went over any terminology, and progressed way too quickly. About three sessions in, they were trying to do pirouettes! No wonder my daughter was struggling, she had no foundation! Thank you so much for these videos; your passion for this artform has been really infectious, and our family is really enjoying the exercise.
Oh thank you so much! I could not be more delighted that your daughter is getting some help and that you are enjoying my instruction! Foundation is so important, and it’s a big credit to you that you recognized this could help. Brava! 👏🏻👏🏻 😊 My greatest hope is that she, you, and your family will love ballet and experience its many joys and benefits! 🙏✨💖🩰
I use to take ballet as a small child, but it didn’t last long. I was picking it up again 7 years ago and sadly had to give it up due to my work schedule. Now I’m 29 and I have the drive to get back into it. Unfortunately I keep feeling like it’s too late. This gives me hope to keep trying. ❤️
I love your videos. I had ballet training years ago and at seventy eight I thought I never would come near it again but with your videos I can feel myself gaining slowing every day. I love the short work outs when I don't have a great deal of time since I work in a kitchen. Balletj just makes me feel good.
I just learned some basic ballet steps today. This was the perfect video for me to watch because I am a young adult who thinks ballet is beautiful and have wanted to be a ballerina but figured it was too late to start. Thank you for your inspiration!!!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Congratulations on learning some ballet! 👏💖 I hope you will continue and that doing ballet will enrich your life and help you connect with all the beauty you feel from inside! 🥰✨🩰
I'm 29 years old and I've sporadically tried hip hop, pole, heels classes within these last 3 years. I would love to continue with heels and pole, but I also have an interest in seriously learning ballet and contemporary to help with other dance styles! I've been in sports most of my life, and danced for fun as a kid, but in my mind dancing is a sport! So far the heels classes I've done this year has brought me such joy! I would love to develop as a somewhat versatile dancer as my fully invested hobby/passion
I’m so happy you’ve found my channel and want to try some ballet! It will definitely elevate your abilities with all your activities and dance styles! 🌸🩰💕
I've been recently taking adult classes at a ballet studio and when a classmate told me that she feels like she has a lot more to learn, I recommended all of my favorite ballet UA-cam channels, including this one.
I started ballet at 5 years old, and did various dance genres for years. Now I want get back into it as an adult to help with strength and posture. Thank you for teaching this!
Thank you for this reminder 💕 I'm in my 20s and I struggle with having grace with myself...but ballet is a precious joy, I try to remind mindful about that and take advantage of this opportunity. Being with everyone in the studio and practicing at home gives me a jolt of happiness everyday 🥰
🙏 So glad you are bringing mindfulness and appreciation (hopefully self-appreciation, too!) to your ballet practice. Ballet is my happy place, too! 💖🩰🌸
I love your videos! You’re so graceful, calm, and gentle, I just started back taking ballet at 45 years old. I’m loving it! I hate I left it years ago.
Thanks for the love you share on this video!!! I've just fund your channel and I'll follow you to encourage miself and return to ballet after decades of left it in a forgotten box. I'm 60, so this is such a challege for me. You inspired me!!!!
Hello Tiekka!! You're such a graceful and agreeable person, thank you for this video! I'm 20 and have some years of experience with Modern Jazz and yet tried at 17 to get into ballet but it was at the time of the Covid so the lessons stopped and I dropped it upon entering a very difficult preparatory class in my country, but now that I have some time ahead of me and that I am way more of a sport lover than before I'd love to pick it back and become truly passionate about it (and hopefully skilled someday), I just love performing so much (esp back in the day I did theatre and modern jazz) and playing a part in a small production would be such a big dream of mine!! I am full of hope for myself and for everybody who wishes to dance (again or not)!!
Thank you! I’m so glad you found my channel and that you want to reconnect with ballet! 👏🏻🎉🩰 It’s just so important to do what you love! And it sounds like you already have dancerly awareness given your background. I hope you will learn and love ballet with abandon!!! 🥰🩰✨🎉

I don't know how to thank you for your encouraging words. They are worth more than million dollars. i am more than 60 years old, I am just entering into ballet. I am very fascinated by the ballet turns especially multiple turns and pirouettes. Can you please give me your advice. Any online class do you have for these turns? I appreciate your prompt response. Best regards. SAN
Hi there! Congratulations on beginning ballet! To answer your question… Turns, especially multiple turns, take a bit of technique and time. If you’re just starting, I would focus on building core and posture with the leg strength and coordination at the barre. Once you have learned those basics, you can begin “spotting” practice. My CLASSIC online program (available through Everyday Ballet Online at www.everydayballet.com) includes spotting practice and some exercises for beginning turns. But as I said, you’ll want to master the basics first. I know this may not be what you want to hear since you are excited about turning, but this is my advice as a teacher. I hope it helps and that you will enjoy practicing ballet! 🥰🩰✨
I'm a 30 year old autistic aspiring ballerina. (I liked saying that) My mom recommended dance as an outlet for my crippling depression. She will be surprised when she finds out I chose ballet.
Trying something new... I am inspired by The Body Remembers - Debbie Gibson. and I am eager to see what I can do. I am a self taught mess and just realizing now that I have done ballet all my life with the stretches. baby steps.
So glad you decided to try ballet! It’s all baby steps… with as much self-compassion and kindness as possible-THAT is part of the journey, too. I hope you will experience (your) beauty, strength, and JOY in ballet! 🙏🥰🩰✨
@@everydayballet Thank you. I feel like I owe it to myself with the weight loss (and not having kids) to have a skill like this. Or at least a hobby. I also like to figure skate. One question that I do have, as an adult, rough estimate of how much money I would need to get started. I heard someone say they have spent $30,000 on ballet shoes alone. That can't be right.
I did ballet as a child, then had a long pause ( like 50 years). Now I'm 60 and I'm starting it again, more for exercise... but I have a question, how often in a week do you recommend ballet. Thank you
Congratulations on finding your way back to ballet! 👏🏻🎉How often you practice will depend on a number of factors. I always recommend starting with 2-3 times per week 20-40 minutes at a time. See how that feels. If you want to increase, do it slowly so your body has time to develop and strengthen. Ideally, it would be great to work up to 3-5 times per week 40-60 min at a time, but this is not necessary. Most important is your joy in movement! 😊🩰✨🌸
Can I start ballet even if I'm 13-14 years old and not flexible, I used to do ballet when I was 8-7, now I want o continue and do it again but my parents disagrees my thoughts
You can start ballet at any age! Those who want to pursue ballet professionally are the only ones who need to start at a younger age. If you enjoy ballet and can find classes that take teens, there is no problem with doing ballet for yourself for fun. 💕🩰✨🌸
Gosh, that’s a tough one to answer because there’s no real endpoint to learning… I’ve been doing ballet for over 50 years and still discover new ideas and feelings in my body despite knowing all the steps, technique, etc. But in terms of how often one should practice, I recommend at least 2 times per week for 20 min or more each time. Regular practice is the key to deep learning and “muscle memory”. Hope this helps! 😊🩰🌸
I do not use the Vaganova method for Everyday Ballet. Instead, the program is derived primarily from a mixture of Italian, French, and English training methodologies. I have synthesized elements from various ballet methods and created a unique approach that is accessible for a wider range of bodies, ages, and abilities. 😊🩰🌸
@@everydayballet Thank you. New to all this but they brag this Vaganova Method up and yet I don't see the difference. They all do the same Barre exercises.
Ballet steps are the same… Vaganova Method describes the specific way/style in which the same steps are taught. Vaganova method is rather intense and is excellent for training young dancers professional level skills. It tends to require more extreme positioning, which is one of the reasons I do not draw from it. Many non-dancers could become injured if they forced their bodies into the Vaganova style.
