I found these lyrics:
Go to sleep little one
Let us rest on this straw mat
Go to sleep while it is yet dark
Soon the clouds will disappear
And reveal a great light to light up the neighborhood
Tomorrow your father will return home
With money from the lemons he sold
He will bring you clothes and a scarf
To keep you warm in December
My beautiful one, with the lovely handpicked black hair
Whomever does not love you or kiss you
Knows not what they are missing
Thank you!
Thank you Andrea, and now is still December
Thank you ❤
Thank you!
Thank you
Remember when you would fall asleep to your mother’s voice singing to you? But you had no idea what she was saying. All you knew was that you were safe and warm.
My dads Egyptian and he'd sing these hymns when I was a lil girl ❤️
@@skeligunAs life goes on our roles kind of switch. My Dad was recently in the hospital and I sang to him.
I'm sorry friend, I'm sure he hears it and knows how much you love him, I wish nothing but good will to you and your dad and family.
Didn't happen to me... but she read me stories.
I know what my mom was saying.
“Love me tender, love me true
All my dreams fulfilled
For my darlin', I love you
And I always will”
I didn’t know my lullabies were Elvis songs until my teenage years.
♥️♥️♥️ to moms around the world, no matter the language of their lullabies.
Although I am half Egyptian I haven't spoken a word of Arabic in years. I do remember this song being sung to me though. It's unique how songs imprint in our minds.
Suga's Shiteu I grew up in Egypt though my parents are western, and just hearing her sing I started to pick out word that I remember from my childhood such as "_shamse_" (sun) and "_asphora_"( I think bird?).. i really should try and learn the beautiful language again
Mr. E well obviously my grandma didn't have an orchestra behind her. It was all vocals, so it was pretty calming to me. The melody is repetitive and very soothing.

I am 79 yrs.old French of Lebanese/Syrian origin. My mother sang it to me, later I sang it to my children and then Grandchildren. This Lullaby belongs to all the Arab world.

Long life and health, and bless you!❤
You got me again, UA-cam Recommends. Well done.
Her voice is luminous, especially against the rich instrumentation.
To anyone who reads this, my heartfelt prayer is that whatever pain you're experiencing or whatever you're constantly stressing about improves. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt dissipate from your mind, replaced by clarity. May peace and calmness envelop your life."
Do you ever hear a song and realize immediately it's one of the most beautiful things you've ever heard? Because this song is that for me!
I felt the exact same way as you!
If you like it, listen to Qare'at el fengan, Abdel Halim Hafez

Wow!!! I hadn't come here long ago. I can't believe a simple transliteration made by ear and shared so I wouldn't lose it would get so many likes. I would like to clarify that I am not an arabic speaker, therefore it is not a faithful transliteration. It was made by me with an amateur ear the day my niece was born, since I just wanted to learn it and sing it for her.
However, I hope this paragraph written by me after listening to the song in a loop 5 yrs ago helped some of you to learn this beautiful lullaby. I have beautiful memories of listening to it on a bright December evening, the smell of my niece's dark hair still on my nose, as I left the hospital. She is 5 years now and I still sing this song for her when I comb her curls.
I am American and I only know English but I feel like I have heard this before. I just don't remember where or when.
Past life
Maybe you remember it from a past life
the past is written in your genes
Arabic music is so beautiful to me and I’m portuguese.
This is beautiful! Who else going on a traditional folk music marathon from around the world?
me!!!
I remember when I was a baby, my mom would have an entire ensemble EVERY NIGHT playing epic tracks like this for me to fall asleep to!
Enchanting! Interestingly, Greeks have a lullaby called Nani Nani.
In Romania the usual lullaby is also "Nani nani".
And in turkiye we have nenni nenni
In albania Nani Nani is used in many lullabies, and it is used associated with the sleeping. So the mother ex says: Nani nani my litle baby, close your eyes, etc
what what?
We have the same Lullaby in Greece but it's called 'Nani Nani'
Merci. C'est une amélioration de l'âme. Je ne m'en lasse pas. Magnifique. Les musiciens sont admirables. Quel talent messieurs !
I am not Arab, but Spanish. Good heavens this song is beautiful beyond words, even if I don’t understand a word, I sounds like something that would calm a crying child, or that would bring tears to your eyes from the memories. Arab countries have such beautiful, rich cultural bagaje.
In hebrew we have a lullaby name "Numi Numi" and it have the same meaning - Sleep Sleep (My little Girl)
You stole that too, from palestinians!
@@mariasyed279 don’t you know that middle eastern music is shared in most of the Mediterranean? Read a book, listen to some music
@@mariasyed279be so fr. You need to crack open a history book .😭
You stole our song too?
Israel does not exist
1:29 when the beat drops.
I have no idea what the woman is singing, but her voice and the language she's singing in is beautiful!
Jonathan Roumie's father is Syrian, born in Egypt.
I've had a Palestinian best friend since we were 5 years old, and her family must've played this for us when I was younger because listening to this unlocked a memory and I was singing along!
This is way too fast for me to fall asleep.
1:46 that's when the beautifull singing starts.
My toddler could totally fall asleep to this! He has been sleeping through some heavy metal tunes, this is beautiful!!! ♡
I'm Arabic , yes it's Arabic lullaby but not from Egypt it's from Palestine
Yes, I'm egyptian,I never heard it before, I went to look for lyrics and it seems weird and sounds more levantine than Egyptian.
Just what I was thinking, especially the melody.
Reem reemm Egypt, arabian, and even tribal cultures share slot in common if you look in history they even shared a lot of the same art.
Hanna G She is french.. the ensamble is from Cluny in France
Reem reemm, food for thought.
Be blessed Egyptian brothers and sisters ❤ from Greece 🇬🇷
This song my husband sings for me many time to comfort me before sleep .. this how he treat me in sweet Arab ways when we both stay a distance from each other
It’s amazing how every country has a unique musical sound to their songs
The western world is so blind to how diverse, beautiful voices sound in different countries! Her voice is so raw and real! So beautiful and so timeless! I can imagine her as a priestess or princess, whose defining feature is her voice! Divinely favored by the gods, and given this extraordinary ability. To channel the gods and ancestors through her enchanting and bewitching voice.
Excuse me madame ignorance. The Western World has its own form of diversity and beauty in songs. Even though Christianity tried to erase it, many European countries tried to hold on to their ancient songs. Have you ever heard a song sung in Gaelic? A song from the Breton people? Not Britain but the people of Brittany in Northwest France? Have you ever heard a song in Faorse? A Viking folk song? Songs sung in the languages of the Slavic people or the Mediterranean like Greece? Or songs of Ancient Rome? Prior to the Nazis completely screwing the Germans over they were rich with traditional folk songs.
Even in the US and Canada have their own folk songs sung in minority languages. Not to mention the traditional songs sung in the Indigenous American languages assuming they count as part of the Western World.
execuse her salf hating@@TimberlakeTigerGirl
@@TimberlakeTigerGirlthank you! I was about to write something like that…the term „western world“ infuriates me. As if all „western“ countries are one soulless blob unaware of the world around us with no diversity.
Cordiales saludos!!!
@@Nala_Uko If we are honest, in the “Western world” we no longer notice the world around us.
My family is scattered all over the world and it shocks me when I visit family members in the USA, Germany, England, the Netherlands, Poland or France and see how people in these countries are increasingly stuck in their bubble of complacency and ignorance and can no longer reflect.
Of course there are exceptions everywhere, but overall that's exactly how I (and many others) feel..
🌖🌗🌘 I do not understand a word but my heart does......
Peace & Love to everyone across this world
this is a Syria dialect is not Egyptian !! But it's a charming Arabic song AW ))
There's a another Syrian song similar to this
Its not syrian, its Egyptians only Egyptian doesn’t pronounce J we pronounce it g, I mean I don’t even need to explain nothing it’s Egyptian dialect and Egyptian culture.
So beautiful... Im from ARMINIAN and I like it...
Դուք օգտագործում եք մի երաժշտական գործիք, որը մեր ազգային երգ ու պարի մեջ մեծ տեղ ունի` դա քանոնն է։ Շա՜տ գեղեցիկ է հնչում։
How beautifully she sang this song! Wish I had the words to it. The instruments were spectacular too! Lullabies are such a global human experience!
I found these lyrics:

I like the columns of the room too.
This is true authentic Egypt. 🇪🇬 🇬🇷
Thank you for sharing this beautiful lullaby. I love Egypt and was looking for something to quiet my mind for sleep. This was perfect….absolutely lovely … goodnight everyone ❤️😴😴🌠🌃🌌🌟✨🔥💫💕
I don't understand but the Egyptian culture is so BEAUTIFUL!
I love how simple and easily she can project her voice with such pure beauty this whole lullaby is amazing thank you for sharing your angelic voice and your great musical talents......Thank you.
I was looking for this song for literally years! My Lebanese father would always sing it to me as a lullaby and I wanted to listen to it again, since we’re not in contact anymore but I just miss those memories and feelings so much.
I can’t describe how happy I am to have finally found it after about 5-6 years of searching and searching.
I immediately thought I recognized this song but I wasn’t sure it was the one I was thinking of until she started singing. I heard this song being performed in a rebeteca concert at the theatre on the Acropolis. Awesome song!
There needs to be lyrics so I can learn to sing along.😘
Why do I know this song so strongly while never hearing it a day in my life before this...
Love and respect from Ireland and the USA. This is wonderful music. Be proud of your culture. It is amazing & magical.
When the beat changes at 1:25 😍 love this 💕
I remember my grandmother singing it to me; the wonderful old days.
Thank you because you love Egypt, I am from Alexandria
What a gorgeous song! It's almost hypnotic
AWESOME. Her semi-tone vocal trills were spot on. Is it purely the music, or is it kindling past life memories?
Wow, she improvised some notes her way and sound so Pretty.. Very Beautiful Voice !
Her voice...magic.
I didnt understood a word but got the feel amazing ...from India
Wouldn't it be great if everyone learned to sing beautifully in school? Being able to sing is something all people would enjoy, I'm sure.
That is such a enchanted song! I would love to see the translation.
Every time I hear this ❤️ never gets old. So beautiful and ancient.
Now I know all the instruments that those familiar sounds come from. Awesome music.
Such an amazing performance! Soothing music that awakens and calms the soul.. The melody reminds me of Greek songs from Asia Minor! MUSIC UNITES ❤ Kind regards and warm greetings from Greece
And how interesting the word Nami resembles so much to Nani, which Greek people use with the exact same meaning. Words travelling from one place to the other, always fascinated me.
Beautiful..... Simply beautiful!
Music transcends labels, borders and “differences” beautiful ❤️❤️❤️ thank you love from turtle island !
Beautiful traditional music, I thoroughly enjoyed it. She had a very beautiful voice. The various Arabic instruments complemented her singing. Great stuff, keep it up. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing!
What ive noticed that you are beautiful when you know an instrument off by heart that you make beautiful music, relaxed and in element, beautiful music by vocals and by musicians. They are different but they equally are the same! Both are the most beautiful people on this planet!
Never heard of this lullaby before but while prayed for something to calm my mind this video popped up and provided such amazing relief and inspiration as well. So Beautiful
