    Absolute star, had my T5 a year and it’s been a money pit already so UA-cam is getting watched constantly to learn how to do things myself! This is the most straight forward to the point tutorial I’ve watched! Got the part now I’m good to go🤣

      Thanks for the positive feedback we aim to get to the point. These vans don't need to be a money pit if you do it DIY plus you'll know the van and have more confidence. Keep us posted on how it goes. You can do it 👍

    great video, really well explained. mot failed as both sides had splits on mine. Also had advisories for the rear bushes. Would it be easier to replace the controls arms instead?

      Hi Never had to replace the rear bushes in the lower arm. Let us know how you get on. You can do it

      Had to take the whole arm off the nearside, joint would just not separate. Had to get my own hot water, just with whiskey in it

      Flipper24196 Hi You took the whole lower arm off ? They can be a bitch to crack the taper joint which is why I spray wd40 on it and leave it for a day of two. Sometimes they take a few heat cycles and a seriously big hammer and you have to hit it like your trying to break it ( not on the end of the bolt but the sides of the arm) 😬 There will always be one side that just doesn’t want to release and tests your patience. Good luck.

    thanks for the guide! Is there any risk of the driveshaft popping out? Saw a few warnings on other threads about that possibility?

    • @YoucandoitwithJules
      @YoucandoitwithJules  3 роки тому

      You will be fine. It can’t pop out of the hub as there’s a nut holding the CV joint in and circlips on both ends of the drive shaft to prevent the shaft coming out. You can do it. 👍

      @@YoucandoitwithJulesmy new driveshaft didn’t come with any circlips 🤔

      @@ChrisCorkPhotography just use one from the old shaft. Make sure it's not too lose so you may need to use some pliers to squeeze the ends together. Keep us posted. You can do it 👍

    Hello mate, as you are also in Austria. I took my T5 for a pickerl and it failed due to the 'kugelgelenk unten'. Is this the same part you are showing in the video?

      Hallo, Ja. It’s the ballpoint. Did they say what was wrong ? Probably the rubber boot is split or perished. You can do it 👍

      @@YoucandoitwithJules Thanks mate. Do you need a specific socket to get the two bolts out? It looks like a torx but I've read that it's not. If so, where did you pick yours up from?

    • @YoucandoitwithJules
      @YoucandoitwithJules  3 роки тому

      Sam Atterbury Hi, indeed they are not Torx but splined. Mine are from the UK. Cheapest place to get them here will be EBay or Amazon.de. If you find a Forstinger store they will have them. Get a set you always need them . You can do it.

    How did you heat the wish bine

    • @YoucandoitwithJules
      @YoucandoitwithJules  3 роки тому

      Hi blow torch at the side next to ball joint where it connects to the wish bone. If you have a big enough hammer you can get away without heating it up. You can do it 👍

    What size of torx holding ball joint?

    • @YoucandoitwithJules
      @YoucandoitwithJules  2 роки тому

      They were 12 point Splines M12, you need to check with the replacement ball joint you purchase as the heads can differ. You can do it.

      Did you loosen the steering arm bolts?

    • @frankfix247
      @frankfix247 26 днів тому +1

      @@Choppingwoodcarryingwater_ I use a 2x3" plank sawed with an angle to hold it down. There isn't much pressure you have to add. You shouldn't loosen the steering arm bolts as these are stretch-bolts. If so, you will have to replace them.
