if it up sets you so much go to the north of Ireland and you will see 1000s, and in July tens of tens of thousands, the part of Ireland still under British rule, hope that makes you happy, could you not just enjoy the vid.
That is all a bit zany!! There were some interesting dance groups. in my American city you have to have some credit like being in one of the Irish dance schools or the pipes and drums, or the Ancient Order of Hibernians, or the Irish American Club to participate. They stop every 10 minutes or so so the dance schools can perform. It has opened up a bit to other groups, but they have to be Catholic, as the entire thing is in honor of a Catholic saint. It is a Catholic celebration, like the Feast of the Assumption procession in Little Italy. We all go and cheer them on, but you have to be a part of the history, the culture, to participate. We all enjoy it, but only certain people should be part of the parade. Others can participate by showing up and showing them respect. Of course all of the politicians show up, too! It looked fun, though!
Well there are thousands of British people living in Ireland and they are all made very welcome so why not, but perhaps we should organise a successful parade in the UK first, my young sons were invited to a St George’s parade 3 years ago in Sutton Surrey but it was cancelled because nobody turned up! 🤷♂️
@@Parker_Douglas As I said read and educate yourself Janice, the kilt and bagpipes are also an Irish tradition open up your mind to learning it really will enlighten you.
Still a whiff of hostility in some of the comments. We were once all Celts before the Roman and Saxon invasions which didn’t affect Ireland. Still, there were prior invasions, Normans etc. but the Isles were in sync. The Roman and Saxon appears to have caused division, plus religion and royalty. The Pope in charge or a King or Queen in charge. If Henry’s first wife was fertile it may, or may not, have avoided a separation.
If you have Scots DNA, chances are that you carry ancient Irish DNA markers. Irish colonized the west coast of Scotland and founded their own kingdom. Basically the Scots and the Irish are close cousins.
