Hi, im in the uk and found, what i believe is an oyster, stuck to a rock in the sand. Its massive, weighs 1kg/2lb. I'll follow your advice until i know what to do with it 😅👍
I Live on my boat in Australia and keep oysters in a bag which I dip in the salt water of the bay a couple of times a day but I have been told not to refrigerate them. I only keep them a few days. I like the way you refrigerate and how you explain why. thnks
Neat. Subbed. I wonder why I've never seen this done commercially. Effort I'm sure. I've seen sooo many oysters thrown away on Sunday/Monday that didn't sell on Fri/sat diner specials due to sloppy storage and the fact they won't last thru to the next weekend

Hi John! I purchased 18 oysters today and need to transport them by car on a two day trip. We aren’t leaving until tomorrow. Is it best to put them in the refrigerator for the day with the method you showed in the video and then put them on ice in a cooler tomorrow? Or will they be fine in the cooler for the next three days (today + 2 travel days) as long as I keep them iced and water off them. When they are in the cooler should they bag be sealed or left open slightly to allow are in? Thank you so much
hello betty thank you for the question. keep them in the fridge till your ready to travel. just put them in a cooler with ice on top of them.if the ice melts in your travel get rid of the water and add fresh ice.once you get to where your going keep them cold and enjoy them.

Should you wash the oysters before putting them in the bowl. I just got some gulf oysters and the shells are pretty gritty and have barnacles.
if you want to wash them go for it but you dont have to.
Great instructional video. Can they also be kept on salt water. By that I mean adding salt to fresh water and keep them submerged.
thank you soooo much!!!
It's always a good day when you learn something new especially if you oysters 😁
thanks for your super advise. can you also taken them out of the shell and freeze them. if so for how long. your reply will be appreciated.
Yes, absolutely you can freeze them for years if you would like.
Thank you John for your very prompt reply. God bless you always

@WILLITGROW thank you for the quick response. Really appreciate it, do you ship or sell any of your oysters in your farm to California?
@@10403mike yes the company does ship to CA under the name great white oysters.
Can you do the same with clams?
hello tom yes for sure you can i do it with clams as well and they are great.give it a try.

Any comments on James River Oyster quality/ water quality? They were $22/50 CT. The Long Island Sound were $38/ 50ct.
i have a video on how to store them in the fridge for 3 months
That’s exactly how I keep oysters. …..no problem for a couple of months
It's good to know but they want last long in my refrigerator
joseph your so right they dont last long for me.
So difficult to set up. Can hardly make it, $330+$500 a month.
I eat $800 a month and the rent is fixed.
No way I could wait three weeks! 😂
