I feel like the hand plane is still a great tool even in a shop with mostly machines. Doing the finish planing by hand results in a smooth surface that you just can't achieve with sanding. And in my experience the time difference between finish planing and sanding is not even that much. Plus less noise and it's much more enjoyable.

I too have lost my mobility a couple of times, and it humbles you - teaches you about the fragility of your existance.
Most of all, it shows you that the most important resource you have in this life is time. You cannot buy or trade for it.
Recover with all speed, and thereafter use your time well. Fighting!

Bouldering: much more dangerous than a novice would assume, ie. No top rope, no belay. You fall, you fall. Easy to get fifteen, twenty feet off the ground with smaller boulders to catch you.

An all power tool woodworker may never understand how good of a surface a hand plane leaves. Sanding is slower and less efficient than planing.

Using hand tools may be less productive, but it pours your essence into what you're creating. if it wasn't for you making these videos, i would have never gotten inspiration to follow suit, and limit my work to hand tools alone. It'll take me longer, but it will bring much greater joy knowing that I am refining a valueable skill. thank you for what you do kobe! I intend to grow my channel this year, and reach the great heights you've reached :D
