    Thanks for watching! I just have a few quick notes:
    1. I bring up the book King Edward a lot in my videos, and I think it's worth mentioning that many consider it to be historical fiction, and a lot of lore it brings up has been changed over time. There is a reason it hasn't shown up in any game besides Daggerfall. Still, it's the only source on a lot of really old aspects of the lore, and it's interesting thing to look back on.
    2. The Ted Peterson interview I mention is called "Ted Peterson on High Rock and Summerset - Religion" if you want to take a look at it. Some pretty interesting topics are talked about in it.
    3. Art credit can be found in the description.
    4. A Part 2 will be coming soon. Stay tuned!

    religious cults in Elder Scrolls are severely underdiscussed despite making a great deal of the game's draw and lore. good job, keep it up!

      I do hope TES6 digs more into the more obscure religious aspects of TES lore. Unlike Skyrim which made Nords worship the Imperial pantheon and actually fight the Imperials over making the pantheon more Imperial. xD

    I love the name Notorgo. Sounds so brutish and primal so I always imagined him as an Orc deity.

    Great video. I would like to point out that, "by the dark Lord" I think is a swear from the Wheel of Time books. Which, the first one was published, I think right before arena came out.

    Bring back this era of the lore man. What sources are you using, out of curiosity? (I will check the description after I finish typing this if that's where the answers lie)

    • @ceedott
      @ceedott  Рік тому +2

      I mention some of them throughout the video but here are all the books and whatnot referenced. Most are exclusive to Daggerfall.
      King Edward
      The Ebon Arm
      Divad the Singer
      A Tale of Kieran
      Mara's Tear
      The Sage
      The Real Barenziah
      Varieties of Faith in the Empire
      You can naturally find shrines to the deities while playing the game.

      @@ceedott I definitely recognized the wilderness shrine names. Thanks for the reply, it's hard to power through the Daggerfall books, too, so thank you for your services

    A lot of these are obvious references to real history, especially the nord ones, but the one about the Maiden being celebrated in Ayasofya is slightly more obscure. Aya Sofya comes from Greek and is a common name given to churches, most famously the Aya Sophia in Istanbul, it means something like “home of wisdom” but also very often these churches are associated with the Virgin Mary whom you could absolutely call a maiden.

    • @memeshort7189
      @memeshort7189 Рік тому +1

      It's the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul

    • @Yews
      @Yews 6 місяців тому

      ‘Ayasofya’ is a Turkish transliteration of the Greek ‘Αγία Σοφία’ - literally ‘Saint Truth’, or ‘Holy Wisdom’, also known as ‘Sáncta Sapientia’, also known as ‘The Achamoth’ - the female counterpart of variously either Christ, or the Holy Ghost, or God the Father, or something in between, in (mostly pre-Nicene) Christian mythology.
      By the way, the presence of a location with this name on the map of Tamriel completely ruins the immersion for me, because it’s literally a blunt reference to Christianity that simply shouldn’t be there.
