Best sleeping position to turn a breech baby - The ONLY sleeping position to reliably turn a baby

- Опубліковано 2 жов 2024
- Nathalie Kaufmann, Pregnancy and Birth Consultant, and Mathias Ritter, Science Expert, talk about the best sleeping position to turn a breech baby. Most babies turn at night while their mothers are asleep. Therefore, if you want to turn a breech baby while you are sleeping, it is vital to provide your baby with enough space to turn and to make it easier for your baby to flip. This video teaches you the best sleeping position to turn a breech baby which does exactly that. In other words, it teaches you how to keep your pelvis and hips in an open position. Keeping your pelvis open is an important part of an optimal sleeping position to turn a breech baby as it helps your baby get out of your pelvis and provides them with enough space to turn. Moreover, this video teaches you how to keep the weight of your leg off your baby, so that your baby can turn more easily while you sleep.

If you are watching this video because your baby is breeched, let me say that this did indeed work for me. I am 35 weeks prego and have tried many different things to get my baby to turn and after watching this video I tried this technique and she flipped. I felt it and then it was confirmed the next day via ultra sound. Good luck mamas😉
Hi there! 😊
Thanks SO MUCH for sharing this information with us!! 😊😘 It is very much appreciated and we are very happy to hear that this sleeping position helped you turn your baby! It makes us really proud!! 😊
We wish you ALL THE BEST for your remaining pregnancy, for you and your baby!! ❤️
I tried the first two positions/exercises in the other video, and I sleep like this every night, for weeks, and still no luck in her turning 😔 I’ll try a different pillow (my boppy breastfeeding pillow) tonight. (32 weeks pregnant btw)
@@tesslopes-medina884 Hi there Tess! ❤️
Poor you!! ❤️ We are very sorry to hear that so far, you have not had any luck! But please, don't give up just yet!! Week 32 is still very early days (we know women don't see it like that, but it's true!). Some babies only just turn very late in a pregnancy... We see it all the time...
So, first of all, do you know if there is anything which could prevent your baby from turning?
Also, with exercises, do you mean the pelvic rocking exercises from our other video?
If so, there is also another "secret" weapon which could help you. And that's moxibustion. Normally, we try moxibustion from week 34 onwards. However, if you have been trying the other exercises plus sleeping position for some time now without success, moxibustion could be the solution. We explain how it works in this video: ua-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/v-deo.html
Please just make sure that you get the approval of your doctor first because not every woman is allowed to do these exercises (f.e. in case of spine-related problems).
If you have any questions Tess, please let us know! We really want to help you turn your sweet little baby! 😘
Good luck!! ❤️❤️
I've been sleeping this way.. but still nothing happens.. 😩 hopefully in God's will, baby will turn to normal position I'm 36weeks now.. afraid going through another C section..😔

All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️
Thank you for this video, you guys are great. I'm 35+1 and bub is breech. This is the fifth time he's turned now from head down back up to breech and has stayed breech the past two weeks. I have been doing your exercises the past two days to flip baby and he has definitely changed position, but not quite sure if he's fully head down yet. I will find out in two days at my next scan if he has turned. Fingers crossed, we're praying it works! I'm now adding this sleep positioning tip tonight to help him more.
Hi there 😊,
thanks so much for your feedback! It's always great to hear when people find out videos helpful!! 😊❤️
Please note that it is not uncommon for babies to flip several times. We have had many similar cases at the clinic. But the good news here is that your baby is ABLE to flip (which unfortunately is not always the case). And in our experience, such babies almost always end up turning head down, particularly when you do the exercises...
We really hope that your baby is now turning head down (and stays that way)! 😊
Good luck for your scan and all the best for you and your baby!! ❤️
Thank you so much for the reply and your advice! Baby was still breech at scan today, but I will keep doing my exercises and also have a chiro appointment booked next week and if that doesn't work will try an ECV as a last resort. Fingers crossed, I'll let you know how we go. :)
@@suzannemarie86 Thanks so much for your feedback!! We are sorry to hear that your baby has not yet turned! But don't give up!! Fingers crossed! ❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing this. I really need this because my baby is still in breech position that's why the doc can't identify his/her gender at 26weeks.
Thanks so much for your feedback! 😀 We are really happy that you found our video helpful!
We are sure you can't wait to know the gender of your baby! We still remember how exciting it was for us when the doctor told us our son's gender! 😀
We wish you all the best for you and your baby and that he/she will turn very soon! 💕
Thank you for I will just just do the excercise to turn my breech baby fastly because Im turning 38weeks pregnant this Sunday.
Hello Lara! 😊
For breech babies from week 34 onwards, there is actually something that is way more effective to turn the baby, instead of "just" sleeping in the right position. We explain, how the approach works in this video: ua-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/v-deo.html. It has helped many women turn their breech baby from all kinds of positions. Maybe, you find it helpful too? And please keep in mind that at that stage of a pregnancy, moxibustion (which we explain in that video) is a crucial part of any attempt to turn the baby!
Finally, please also keep in mind that a baby can only turn if nothing prevents them to do so (like for example, when the cord is tangled around the baby) and when the baby still has enough space to turn (baby size vs. amount of amniotic fluid).
We really hope it will help you turn your baby!! You can do it!!! 🚀
All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️

Hi there 😊,
please note that there are also more "active" approaches to try turn a breech baby.
We have found that once a woman is 34+ weeks pregnant, "moxibustion" in combination with breech baby turning exercises is the most effective (natural) approach to turn a baby. We explain how this approach works in this video: ua-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/v-deo.html
We hope this helps! 😊
All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️
You two are just adorable
Thanks so much again!! Means a lot! 😀💕👍
im 6 months pregnant and ny baby is in breech position 😢 hoping and praying that this sleeping positions tips that you've shared with help me to turn my baby 🙏🙏🙏
Hi there 😊,
first of all, please don't be worried at this point! 6 months pregnant is still early days. You can worry about baby's position once you are 35+ weeks pregnant.
Besides, this sleeping position can certainly help. However, there are also more "active" approaches that could help here:
We have found that - as long as a woman is fewer than 34 weeks pregnant - an exercise called "pelvic rocking" on a birthing ball is the most effective tool to turn a breech baby. We explain how it works in this video (actually, everything that we explain in this video could help): ua-cam.com/video/X3sOObqZHrY/v-deo.html
And then once a woman is 34+ weeks pregnant, we have found that "moxibustion" in combination with breech baby turning exercises is more effective to turn a baby. We explain how this approach works in this video: ua-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/v-deo.html
We hope this will help you too! 😊

Hi there Cassie 😊,
okay, great!
Please keep in mind that all this position does is provide your baby with more room in the womb. But it is still up to your baby to "make a decision" to turn.
That said, there are also more "active" ways to support that process:

Hi mam gudevng....this is lakshmi here. I m now 32 weeks pregnant. Today i got check up with my doctor. She said that baby is in breech position. So just watched ur video and will follow
Hi there Lakshmi 😊,
thanks so much for commenting! 😊
First of all, please note that week 32 is still early days and therefore, your baby has still PLENTY of time to turn!
Apart from that, there is also more that a woman can do to help a baby turn:
As long as a woman is less than 34 weeks pregnant, we have found that an exercise called "pelvic rocking" on a birthing ball is the most effective tool to turn a breech baby. We explain how it works in this video (actually, everything that we explain in this video could help): ua-cam.com/video/X3sOObqZHrY/v-deo.html

Maybe these videos will help you too? 😊
We wish you GOOD LUCK and ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️
In which side
Thanks so much for watching!! 😊 Please note a few things:
1 You don’t need to sleep in that position every night in order to make this work!! If your leg is swelling or if it feels painful after some time, stop it!
2 All the sleeping position does is providing your baby with more space to turn at night. However, it’s still up to your baby to actually do so.
3 There are other ways to support your baby during the whole turning process too. We explain the most important ones in this video: ua-cam.com/video/X3sOObqZHrY/v-deo.html.
4 If a baby is still breech by week 34, then the combination of postural techniques and moxibustion have proven to be quite effective to turn a breech baby. In this video: ua-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/v-deo.html we explain how postural techniques and moxibustion work.
5 Finally, please keep in mind that there may be important reasons why your baby cannot turn. For example: if the cord is tangled around your baby, if uterine fibroids or your placenta are in your baby’s way, then your baby simply cannot turn. And unfortunately, there is nothing that you can do about it…
I'm 34 weeks in breech position hope the baby flip.

Currently 29weeks, hope this will help to turn my baby 😌
Hi there Jessica 😊,
at 29 weeks, we really wouldn't worry about a breech baby! In many cases, babies only turn later...
By the way: there are also more "active approaches" to help a baby turn. We explain the most effective one in this video: ua-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/v-deo.html
We hope this helps! 😊
We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

Yes, this sleeping position can be helpful no matter which breech position your baby is in!
Moreover, you might want to have a look at this video: ua-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/v-deo.html, in which we explain how to turn a breech baby with exercises and moxibustion.

Now I'm in 28 weeks. Hope everything will be fine

@@Bella_1to1 At 28 weeks, you really don't need to worry about a breech presentation!
You can worry about that once you are 34/35+ weeks pregnant! 😁
A lot is going to happen over the next 2 months...
In the meantime, you can try birth ball exercises to support the process - if you are allowed to do them:
ua-cam.com/video/X3sOObqZHrY/v-deo.html
In my 24 weeks ultrasound report there was mention that my cervical length was 4.5 cm, partially V-shaped & cervical funneling was noted so because of this i took complete rest for 6th and 7th month. Recently at 31 weeks ultrasound doctor told me that my baby is breach position & those cervical things are still same, no any changes, not causing any problem till now. Bt if the baby position remains same till the end of 9 month i have to go for C-section which i don't want so please suggest me what should i do?
Hi there 😊,
in that case, you cannot do any exercises. However, there are still things that you can do which do nor require any exercises.
In order to turn your baby, you can try moxibustion alone (without the exercises) that we show in this video: ua-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/v-deo.html. Simply go into a left side lying position (like the one in our "best sleeping position to turn a breech baby" video), and then apply moxibustion 20-30 minutes once or twice per day.
In order to soften your cervix, you can try dates, acupressure and reflexology (from week 37). None of this requires you to do any exercises: ua-cam.com/video/8rehbupwhzY/v-deo.html
We hope this helps! 😊
We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️
@@CareAboutLittleOnes I'm so glad that you respond to my concern 😊❤
But why i can't do any exercise though my cervix is open till now it's not causing any trouble 🤔 doctor says if it come to U-shaped then there is high risk of preterm delivery
@@subhishah5348 Hi there!
You are most welcome! ;-)
Well, whether or not you can do any exercises is something that only your doctor can determine!
In general though, if there is a risk of a preterm delivery, then doctors usually tend to recommend avoiding exercises.
But of course, if your doctor told you can do exercises, go for it! ;-)
@@CareAboutLittleOnes i search for those moxibustion which you have mentioned in your video but i didn't find those maybe bcs I'm from India and those brand are not available here so now I'm confused which one should I buy 🤔
@@subhishah5348 Hi there: I just checked on Amazon India. And there are sticks available: www.amazon.in/Ramdev-Acupressure-Products-Traditional-Moxibustion/dp/B07BYLGDTM/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1XC7E3P8K7AEP&keywords=smokeless+moxibustion+sticks&qid=1665506631&sprefix=smokeless+moxibustion+sticks%2Caps%2C49&sr=8-4
Not sure if this is a good brand. However, these are basically smokeless moxibustion sticks. I guess, they cannot do much wrong here ;-)

I'm 39 week pregnant and my baby is breeched so it will work to me yet or not
Hi there 😊,
unfortunately, there is never a way to tell if this is gonna work for someone or not. Sometimes, it is simply not possible to turn a breech baby and there can be many good reasons for it.
From experience though, we can tell you that - at later stages - you normally need something more "active" to turn a breech baby - given that your baby is able to turn at all.
Have you already watched this video: ua-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/v-deo.html ?
We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️
Did it work for you pls reply I am also 38 week with breech
Hello dears
I am 37 weeks pregnant mother.
I am using J shaped Pillow... is it ok ? For lying on bed.
@@athulyageetharamachandran3972 Yes, that's okay! You can use all kinds of pillows, if they support the parts of your body which require support...
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️. Is it necessary to get up before switching to another side while sleeping.
You are most welcome Karthi!! 🙂
No, it is not necessary to get up before switching on the other side! 🙂
All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️❤️
That's the way I've slept my entire pregnancy and I'm 38 weeks and breech.
Hi there Kassandra 😊,
please note that this sleeping position only "opens the door" for your baby by providing your baby more room to turn. But it's still up to your baby to kind of "make a decision" to go through it, i.e. to turn.
That said, there are also more ACTIVE ways to help a baby turn.
We have found that once a woman is 34+ weeks pregnant, "moxibustion" in combination with breech baby turning exercises is the most effective approach to turn a baby. We explain how this approach works in this video: ua-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/v-deo.html
Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that it works, particularly not that late. That's because there are at least 100 reasons why babies sometimes just CANNOT turn. However, we DID come across several cases when this approach helped turn babies even as late as week 40...
We really hope it helps you too! 😊
We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️
Good to follow
Thanks so much for your feedback Chris!! We really appreciate it!! 😊
All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️
Thank u so much ❤️ and can you guys tell me should i need to get up and change the position from left to right while sleeping
Hello Nivedhini! 🙂
Thanks for commenting! You don't need to change the position during the night! Sleeping on the left side is still the safest way of sleeping for your baby. The reason why we mention that you don't need to be scared if you wake up during the night and lie on your right side is, because the newest scientific research has shown that - against common belief - it seems that there are no adverse effects on the baby from sleeping on the right side as a pregnant woman. Still, it is recommended to sleep on the left side when you are pregnant...
We hope this helps! 🙂
All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️
I am 34 weeks pregnant. Should I always sleep to my left side while doing this or can I maintain this position and sleep on my right side too ? Sleeping on one side through the night gives a terrible neck pain. Thanks for any input you may provide.
Hi there 😊,
you can absolutely do this in a right side-lying position as well! Studies show that there is no increased risk for the baby, if you are in a right side-lying position. In both cases (left and right), you provide your baby with more room in your womb which can help the baby find a better position. So, yes, this can totally work!
We hope this helps! 😊
We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️
I've been trying everything to get my baby to turn head down and NOTHING IS WORKING! I'm 37 weeks and 4 days today and so I need advice about what to do. I'm freaking out because I do not want a c section. Please help! He's been breech for almost 6 weeks now.
Hi there 😘,
poor you... We know that this is very frustrating! ☹️
First of all, please rest assured that your baby is not breech because of anything you do or don't do. In other words: this is NOT your fault and it's not because you are not trying hard enough!
Sometimes, there can be good reasons why a baby just cannot turn.
But don't give up just yet: when nothing happens, we normally send the woman to a chiropractor. It does not always help, but it has helped in many cases...
Maybe that's another option you would like to try?
I'm going to try this from tonight.
Hi there 😊,
that's GREAT! Let us know how it goes! 😊 👍
@@CareAboutLittleOnes i definitely will
Sleeping with a pillow between your legs is almost always the most comfortable position. When using a breastfeeding pillow, women who worry about vaginal bacteria. My advice to them is…. Wash the pillow cover… but good vaginal flora can only benefit your newborn (I don’t include Strep B women here)
