thank you for mentioning the fact that you have to call the monitoring company to get things switched over. I am doing the same project today and all your info, including toddlers being noisy like they are, helped me a lot.
That is my main question. I always have troubles with upgrading anything. I get it just how I like it and then I have to waste days on the phone to get it to work again!!!😡😡😡😡
I installed our system with the app instead of using the keypad and found it rather intuitive. Great video. Nice comparison seeing the systems side by side
I appreciate the review/how to……….I find myself in exactly the same situation i. e. base would not connect to cell tower. So I was searching for how to update my existing account with the new system. So thanks for doing this video. As for Ritchie, I wonder if we could critique one of his videos?
Awesome video. I am about to update too. So you installed all of the sensors and then start the setup process? Did you pull the battery tab on the sensors when you stick them up and just press the button?
I had a first generation system. The siren would not work. I called SimpliSafe. They replaced the system free of charge to me, I just had to reinstall it myself. You can’t get better than that.
One thing I like about the new system is the red panic button is on top and discreet compared to the old system where it is right in the middle hogging all of the buttons.
You can. I have certain monitors off for the home setting. You can do this in the app or in your account online. For instance, when home my door to the garage is not active so I can go in and out. The door to my actual garage outside is still set. You can do this!!
judging by the destroyed drywall next to the new pad in the garage, I am sure he would like that tutorial as well. Heat guns or a blow dryer worked for me
Agreed SimpliSafe system is easy to install. It's a good monitoring system but for the poor quality of their video doorbell camera from internet connectivity standpoint. I did purchase it along with the Video Doorbell Camera but the camera goes offline (no live stream) with a message 'Disconnected from the internet' every 2-3 minutes. SimpliSafe attributed it to my poor Wi-Fi network when in fact I have 5 GHz-600 MBS speed bandwidth along with six Google Nest Wi-Fi routers. When I complained to SimpliSafe, they asked me to split my Wi-Fi network into 2.4ghz and 5ghz since SimpliSafe doorbell camera works only with 2.4ghz bandwidth (this they do NOT say anywhere). I did the split and connected the SimpliSafe doorbell camera to the 2.4ghz Wi-Fi network but in vain. The camera went offline after 2 minutes as ever before. They sent me a replacement camera which too had the same 'going offline every 2-3 minutes' issue. I repeatedly called SimpliSafe and asked for a good solution. They had the cheek to say I should move my internet router (which is about 10 feet away from the doorbell camera) closer to the doorbell camera. That was the last straw that broke the camel's back and I canceled my subscription service. While the rest of the SimpliSafe system works, the doorbell camera does not since it's outdated. Today's doorbell cameras support dual bandwidth (2.4ghz and 5ghz) and SimpliSafe lags behind, thanks to their outdated technology. I am currently using the SimpliSafe doorbell camera without the video recording feature from the web interface (smart app disabled due to my monthly subscription cancelation) though the the camera goes offline every 2-3 minutes but then I am not paying $27.99 for the poor quality of the camera. I can't return the equipment either since I am past the product return window.
I've read to NOT display the brand of security system yard you have. That gives the criminals a way to bypass your system. Better to use generic stickers instead.
Now I’m gonna go ahead and go ahead. Then I’ll go ahead and go ahead. Are you gonna go ahead and go ahead some too? Who counted all the ‘go-aheads’? Anyone get more than 50 times?? You’re welcome! Annoying much? Now I’ll go ahead and post this comment then I’ll go ahead and stop watching this guy.
In-between some of the go-a-heads I heard some good information about the upgrade that I NEEDED to know. So thank you very much for posting this video. On another constructive note you might find a thesaurus very handy for future videos. (Not trying to be ugly, just helpful) Thanks again

I hope this worked out for you.

Glad it helped!
Thanks buddy. I had the same OLD system as you and have the same NEW system as you. Thanks for the great video explanation.

I unpacked everything. Pulled tabs. But set each sensor up 1 by 1 as I installed them. That was just so I could keep track of each.
Any update on Simplisafe

They have good customer service. Glad you got it figured out!
Is the siren very loud? I was thinking of putting one in the garage. The base station doesn't seem loud enough for me.
Do you have to have a subscription for the service?
One thing I like about the new system is the red panic button is on top and discreet compared to the old system where it is right in the middle hogging all of the buttons.
Good call. It is a much better design.
What was the steps you used to install the second key pad to the system?
Its just like setting up the sensors. It will detect it.
Thanks I was wondering that too! just hit the button on the top while selecting add on the main unit
We need letters for our WiFi to connect. How do you get to letters on keypad?
I use the sim card in the base station, I don't use wifi. Maybe you can do that in the app? I'm not sure.
I wish I could figure out how to set the system up so that I don't need every door closed when I am home.

How do you remove the adhesive from the old sensors?

Yea, no 💩. I'm a bull in a house. Good tip, heat it up for sure.
Thanks for uploading! When replacing the entry sensors/keypads, did you have to drill new holes or did everything just line up with the old holes?
I used the sticky pads instead.

Boi your not using rechargeable batteries 😒?
These last years.
I was looking at replacing my older zwave system with a simplisafe system. I then looked at the BBB reviews and not sure why they were so bad.
I'm not sure either. I love them. Maybe it's just people complaining about having to set it up themselves?
thank you very much for this video, it made me take a very important decision. I will never have kids. 10/10 5 stars

I would prefer to "go ahead" than say stupid "um" and "like"....whatever!
