Kai is just so precise! He's a really neat person, too. I've watched a few interviews with him and he seems to be such a nice person. 👍
You are right about Kai as a person, absolutely the nicest person I know!
@@thomasorn8009 Oh, do you know him personally? If so, please pass along how much we appreciate what he brings to Nightwish, and in the way only he can. 😁
@@AGDinCA We are best friends, he was also my bestman when i got married. :D Will pass your words on to him :)
@@thomasorn8009 Oh my goodness, I would very much appreciate that. My favorite drummer in the whole world is Ian Paice. I have loved Deep Purple for many, many years, so I admit, Paice is kinda on a pedestal for me.
But solidly in second place is Kai. Not only is he a master of his craft, but he seems to be so genuinely kind and humble. Ritchie Blackmore is one of the greatest guitarists ever, and helped form Deep Purple, and yet, I'm not a big fan. Why is that? Well, because he's a big jerk. All the talent in the world can't buy you a good soul. That comes from within.
Thanks for sharing this with Kai. Well, not ALL of this, of course. You could just say, "Hey Kai, you've got a fan in California, USA. " 😁👍
Now you should go and check the whole song also! It's nice to compare Kai as The Human Metronome. All metronomes should be very proud of that!!
Wintersun-time (live rehearsal @ sonic pump studio)
He’s amazing isn’t he! Wintersun and Nightwish are fantastic. Enjoy 😀
Have you tried Rotten Sound? Kai also plays in that band
I can play this song properly maybe 1/10 times and I have to take a long break after each time because it's not just technically demanding, it's also extremely physically taxing for me. Kai is laughing while playing this beast of a song and all I can do is wonder if he is even human at this point 😅
He is always smiling too.
Nice to see genuine impression, Kai has a nickname of "metronome".. He never misses a hit. Maybe best or one of the best drummers in Finland. Cheers from Finland. Ps. If you haven't checked out Nils Dominator Fjelströmm you should check him out, he's absolutely on next level too.
The Band is talented, love this song and Time from Live rehearse sonic pump studios. He is now with Nightwish which are probably my favorite band of all time.
👍🇫🇮😊
I highly recommend Wintersun, Time live rehersal Sonic pump Studios
Make sure you take the version: live rehearsal at sonic pump studios. This song and also ”Time”
Not only quick. Not only precise. Not only both of before mentioned. But also very rhythmically complex. And ALL before mentioned together at the same time. Greetings from the Nightwishland a.k.a Finland 🇫🇮
Godlike!
Rumour has it that each one of his limbs has it's own brain.
People have heard of Neil Peart, but there are many genious "work-horses" like Kai who haven't had the limelight. All are true "professors of the beat". Can you think of others? PS. many times Kai changes from one hand to another without missing a beat. That takes real skill
React to Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars (Live rehearse sonic pump studios remastered) there is whole band doing this song with studio quality.
Yes, amazing, will defo check it out
Time is my favorite from them so maybe also that one from Same rehearsal?
@@CRAIGREACTS Very important: react the live rehearsal version. Very impressive!
@@CRAIGREACTS The videos mentioned are in the links I gave you in my comment
The whole Wintersun is full of highly skilled players. I think Teemu Mäntysaari is absolutely stellar guitarist but so humble he would never say anything to even suggest that.
Welcome to Finland dude!
And this being from a drum clinic, it's not even his normal set, just a reduced one. Still he delivers.
IMO, Wintersun is the best Finland can offer. The melodies, vocals... musicianship of all its members - just enchanting.
I depends on the genre you prefer. I think Nightwish, Amorphis, Poets of the Fall, Apocalyptica and Beast in Black are worth checking out, too. In their own genre Wintersun is probably the best.
Nightwish dude???
The human robot. Except this one is genuinely nice and has feelings. The precision througout the songs, the continuity, flawless and faster then light. And you know what? He looks like he could enjoy a nice cup of tea and some donuts while doing this.....or read the paper. And doing it all night. He is not human. Which actually makes sense. The other members of Nightwish are not human either. They were send from planet Alpha to earth to mesmerize mankind and prevent ratkind. They are on a lonely epic level. Speaking of planet Alpha: check out the music from Arjen Lucassen. A project called Ayreon. It features the drummer Ed Warby. Totally different and not as fast as what you saw here, but nevertheless a fantastic drummer. Next to him you see a staggering pile of worldwide talents perform in one show. It's like the musical G20 coming together......
I am a huge Nightwish fan (I am 62) and he has brought a new dimension to the band along with the vocals of Floor Jansen. You really need to check them out properly. Their previous drummer was called Jukka Nevalainen and he was equally as good. If you are gobsmacked watching Kai also review Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg and a 12 YEAR OLD Japanese drummer called Junna. She will blow your mind!!!!
Each of his limbs has it's own brain.
He's one of the worlds best and seriously underrated.
Nightwish his day job is a lot more relaxed (but epic song writing, musicianship and vocals), Wintersun is just crazy and not just his drums.
Kai drumcam in Weak Fantasy (Nightwish are one the worlds best live bands!) ua-cam.com/video/FbWzilsAOYs/v-deo.html
Do not forget about previous drummer Jukka fire
Yes, I also think he is the best out there but I have not seen them all.
WinterSun don't have so many songs on YT with Kai, it's about 3-4 good ones.
If you will see him in full speed, search for "obay" with the group Rotten Sound,
but he is now with Nightwish so enjoy that too.
Bummer, spelled it wrong, it's Obey :-) ua-cam.com/video/SHoY51VCluI/v-deo.html
Oh yes man. Wintersun are absolutely brilliant ...a bit different to Nightwish...but Kai is in both bands...what a drummer.
I think you might be surprised at Wintersun..try out reviewing some of the actual tracks....Land of Snow and Sorrow, Time 1, Sons of Winter and Stars recording at Sonic Studios. Take care dude. Peace from Liverpool UK 👍✌️🤘☮️
You should definitely listen to the whole performance of this song, amazing guitar work as well! Look for the YT vid with studio session in the title. It’s crazy good. Wintersun - Sons Of Winter And Stars.
Yes to this!
You can find some of the best food in a small four table family business.
Wintersun ❤ Kai Hahto❤ This is "a rehearsal " 😳
Yeah... all three songs from this session has been recorded in the first/one take LUL
check out this drummer, Nils "Dominator" Fjellström - Dark Funeral - Vobiscum Satanas (Drumcam) . hes just totally nuts..
I think this kind of drumming is even more impressive in context (i.e. being able to hear the rest of the band properly). This is already impressive as a long drum solo, but it's hard to appreciate the musicianship that way -- you don't really know why hits land where they do and stuff like that. It's nice to have a fixed view on him though.
As a side-note: watch his left foot starting at 15:17 -- opening and closing the hi-hats while keeping the double-bass going.
He sweats and vibrates so much that he dissolved his eyebrows.
There is a video of the song with the drums in the background if you want to hear the rest of it !!
The late Neil Peart, the Neil Peart. Everyone else are mere mortals.
Kai is great. Wintersun is great. Nightwish is great. Anything from those and you can't miss. For something a bit different you should check out a progressive metal band called Dream Theater - their drummers Mike Portnoy and Mike Mangini have done some epic stuff behind the kit. Mangini has some nice play throughs and drum cam videos on his channel here in UA-cam. "Pale Blue Dot" consert drum cam is nice for instance.
Hmm more drum cam suggestions: Mgla- Exercise in Futility V - Darkside drum cam. Tool - Pneuma, drum cam. CrossFaith - Tatsuya Amano extreme drum solo.... A Yeon - Kings raid, blind days cover.
Lookup his video playing perfection by rotten sound
Hi, thanks for reacting to my recommendation. Yes, this is Kai Hahto for you. Impressive, right? If you want to hear the regular version of this song, try this one. ua-cam.com/video/Tl5T-glTdXw/v-deo.html
I highly recommend their song 'Time' too. ua-cam.com/video/4UMwLxFNKS0/v-deo.html
And don't forget about Nightwish. They're an awesome band. Incredible compositions, outstanding musicality and meaningful lyrical content. Try 'Weak Fantasy'. It has some nice drumming too. ua-cam.com/video/AN239Pbqbjo/v-deo.html
Thank you, they will be checked out for my next music reactions, and yeah cant wait to hear the regular version of that track , so impressive
Wintersun We trust
How about Jamie Saint Merate of Ulcerate. Album drum tracking Ulcerate - Stare into Death and Be Still
Y
If you like drum covers you should check out Junna cover of Through the Fire and the Flames.
You should do a Luke hollond drum video
DUDE! You need to turn down the volume on your intro graphic about 30%. I scramble to turn it down before it busts my old speakers every time.
Check out Epica....epic drummer
Great reaction! Another great drummer at that stratospheric level would be Tomas Haake. Here is a drum video of him playing Clockworks in the band Meshuggah: ua-cam.com/video/axGn6qeJHcM/v-deo.html ...or their song Bleed: ua-cam.com/video/bAJ1WTGNISk/v-deo.html To be clear though: I'm not making any comparisons between the two. Kai is awesome and I honestly don't think it's useful or even practical to discus "who is best" with drummers at this level... I mean, what metrics would you use and how would you weight them. Bpm? Precision? Feeling? Groove? How would higher max bpm be stacked up against metronomic precision or groove? How would we even define groove? You get the point... Everyone will have their own slightly different opinion and there will be a lot of arguing. I hope you enjoy the videos though.
Valid point, I look forward to check this video out, thanks buddy
Then look danny carey from tool...😎
Check out the video I have up already
*Check out the playthrough videos of drummer Evgeny Novikov [SLAUGHTER TO PREVAIL]. Greetings.* 🎵🔥🔥🥁🔥🔥🎵✅
He is great, but I like Sami Kuoppamäki more.
I just started watching the beginning what are you doing very easy his drum set sounds like he's hitting pillows and he's not hitting the heads hard enough to hear them. Don't say you never seen anyone is quite. It doesn't even sit on the stands in the same stadium as Neil Peart
Not trying to detract anything from neither Kai's or anyone else's skills, but it's simply wrong to dub any one drummer 'the best'. No one is. Imagine all the insane drummers out there. I must admit to the fact that, I've kinda lost my love for extreme metal during the last decade, because most are all about who's the fastest, who's the more technical one, and/or who combine the two the best.
Edit: Check out John Longstreth from Origin. :-) Or Eugene Something from Fleshgod Apocalypse.
Valid point, simply saying he’s the best I’ve seen till now, my world has been opened up to so many new bands and artists
@@CRAIGREACTS Time to go for more. Origin is extreme as fuck, pardon my French. Fleshgod Apocalypse the same. Both drummers, respectively, have drum cam sessions up for grabs. Nice guys, too. And there's loads more.
Not saying that you should react to any of it/them. *cough*
Must be coronaaaa!
Jag anser att Kathy är den bästa trummisen i världen och det finns ingen i närheten av honom.När dom så kallade experterna ska dra sin lista så finns Katho inte ens med.Det är ju ett skämt.Hur fan kan man göra en sådan miss.H
Lol! No, it's not.
this aint shit look up Alex Rudinger
Just when I thought people in UA-cam comment sections couldn’t be any dumber lol
