Honestly that level 1 lechonk did so much. Because the ahnilape couldn’t come out until lechonk was dead, or they risked losing a Pokémon to it (which would be bad, but probably mostly just embarrassing) this forced the Pokémon to be the whole center of the battle, which temp6t’s team could easily play around. It was a mind game all along (or maybe I’m thinking too much into it lmao)
Heavy respect for temp. I've seen alot of doubting of Temps actual skills but in all honesty, temps a respectable showdown player and is why I've been learning more about how to play showdown

I always laugh when people try to claim that temp6t isn't good at pokemon without his gimmick strats. Quite a few of his videos show stats that shows a heightened knowledge of the game's mechanics and most importantly how to break them open in the cheekyest way possible.
Temp is a good player who treats UA-cam like the meta. In order to win he can't use his favorites. So he turns to gimmik videos to draw more viewers and as a result, more success
I'm personally not the biggest fan of Temp6t's vids, but I can't deny he showcases some very unique strategies. He obviously has a good grasp of competitive Pokemon at the very least, and knowledge is 90% of the battle. I'm not surprised to see a flex like this from him lol.
It isn't just a story of how he beat a member of the OU Council with a Lechonk; the dude straight up went into the fight with a hand tied behind his back as a part of the strategy.
You did such a good job explaining all the concepts and information needed to understand the cool play, and in such a concise video. I’ve never even heard of half these Pokémon and I still feel like everything was very clear
Gotta love the irony of a roly-poly piggy winning the game by basically being the least bulky target possible making it the worst possible fodder for the opponent.
temp6t is a legendary video editor, lol. His use of memes and sound effects in his videos makes for some of the most hilarious stuff I've ever watched on youtube. I can't, to this day, hear a Taco Bell commercial without picturing someone getting their butt beat in Showdown lol.
Lechonk's mere existence put a lot of pressure on Annihilape not to risk going down by switching in too often, otherwise Lechonk's gimmick may have had potential to work. A simple detail that I love to point out may have had impact on Ausma's playstyle and choices. It's these sorts of mindgames that I love in competitive Pokemon; just having a Zoroark, Shedinja, or other similar Pokemon on your team influences the opponent without them ever having to enter the field.
“We at the OU council have decided to ban Lechonk effective immediately for its overwhelming mind pressure that it places on the opponent, giving the user unfair mental advantage”
I know al-lot of people give tempt6 shit, but you honestly have to know what you're doing to make these strategies work. It's pretty clear he's a good player, he just likes to have fun with it and I don't see anything wrong with that.

Hot take: I think there was a legitimately good strat with Lechonk. Like just about anything, it's easy to stop if it's not used well. Temp clearly knows how to play around the counters, and can probably use it to quite consistent success. Something to also keep in mind is while it's easy to play around, it still has to be played around, so the Pokemon that stop it basically become essential. That is good for strategizing
i think what can be learned about this is that temp isn't just a memer or even just a good player. he's an apex memer, able to strategize and head game and weave his gimmicks into formidable strategic plays
Dawg wtf, I was under the impression temp was just meme content. I figured he probably wasn't that good at the game and he just fished for low ladder people who freak out or staged games. A lot more respect from me, damn.

Also note that in Game 2 ausma misclicked and got Great Tusk killed, essentially removing her hazard control and losing the chance to get Annihilape's Substitute up. She said as much on stream: the mental game is absolutely important when playing Pokemon.
And doing mental damage is temp6t's specialty. XD
I also misclick when making mistakes

There's nobody like Temp6t in this community. The man bet his most popular youtube video for the attempt and went in with a level 1 Lechonk for the meme win. His style is iconic and he is a living pokemon legend!
I thought he was just a hack, making fake videos for views. This situation convinced me otherwise, he's an entertainer with some talent and was willing to risk his top video for shits and giggles.

temp styled on an ou council member just for the lols with a goddamn lechonk, and I’m here for it
Its funny because the Anihilape was the biggest thing that made the Lechonk gimmick not work, but in the end, it was Lechonk that made Anihilape's "gimmick" not work

I think it's these sorts of plays that separate the good gimmick users from the bad ones. Being able to adapt to the current situation, and not just blindly spam the gimmick is a great skill.
Temp6t not making a "using L1 Endevour against legendary spammers" video for 300th time?
That's a big news alright.

Yeah! Video watch comment before you didn't.
Imagine how many of his fans were downloading that video by the thousands, MILLIONS, just in case.

I freaking loved this video! My favorite Pokemon Showdown UA-camr making a video about my second favorite Pokemon Showdown UA-camr. I was at the gym when this video dropped and I had to stop and sit down to watch it. Love your content Freezai!
It goes to show how resourceful and cunning temp is to have his original play fall through but still manage to get the lv1 to work.
i think what can be learned about this is that temp isn't just a memer or even just a good player. he's an apex memer, able to strategize and head game and weave his gimmicks into formidable strategic plays
