- Taco Bell wants nearly $7 for a simple chicken quesadilla? Somebody is trippin'! Here's my copycat recipe that's even better for about a dollar.

You mentioned before that cooking videos is not your thing, but I absolutely love them. You make the videos so well. I also love when you renavate your home videos.
Thank you,
Alicia
A one dollar pizza slicer works wonders for cutting these
Best part of the video was when you got ready to take a bite and the music in the background came to a crescendo. It was like you planned it that way!
Yum! That looks way better than Taco Bell’s version. Years ago, when my kids where teenagers, I bought a preowned paperback copy of a cookbook called Cook This, Not That, from a small neighborhood bookshop. It’s full of fast food and chain restaurant dupes to save money and calories.
I have that same one!
I keep forgetting to use it though 😢. The few times I tried it I was very pleased with the results.
Likewise, purchased that book used, had it for decades until recently downsize, donated it to a book fair. It had some viable recipes for sure.
And you are using butter instead of nasty oils used by many fast food places. Spectacular 🎉
As natural as we can get 💪
The grated cheese may have questionable ingredients though
Quesadilla sauce
½ cup mayonnaise
½ cup sour cream
3 Tablespoons pickled jalapeno juice (from a jar of pickled jalapenos)
3 Tablespoons pickled jalapenos (diced)
2 teaspoon paprika
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon garlic granules
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
½ teaspoon chili powder
With the ridiculous cost of fast food now, I’m going to start making my own. That way I save $$ and I know what’s in it.
A copycat Chipotle burrito or burrito bowl would be awesome. Thanks for your videos! Our family has yet to try a recipe of yours that we haven't liked!
Yes, please! I love Chipotle! ❤️
Taco Bell has lost the plan. I was there 3 weeks ago. First time in 20 years. Quesadilla was THIN, could not find, taste chicken and the sauce was red water. NEVER again. TY. You are always on point about spending $ in foolish ways. 🥰 Tackle Chick fil a, that is a scam to be reveled.
In addition to being way over priced, Taco Bell sucks in my opinion lol. I make mine here at home and it’s always so much better and, of course, so much cheaper. Love that you use butter for your tortillas; I do the same and it’s so tasty :)
Oh my God I'm dying I'm dying. When you said make it look all fancy I just lost it. That's probably what makes your videos so good is your personality
When I worked there the sauce was A SOUR CREAM AND RED SAUCE MIXTURE
It’s what is in the shredded cheese that we chose not to buy it. It could be $1.00 a 98 lb bag and we wouldn’t buy it.
Prices are beyond insane. We left Commifornia many years ago and haven’t looked back. We will never return. Not even for a visit. We chose to spend our dollars in a state that isn’t blue
Speaking as a Hispanic who has been eating quesadillas since before Taco Bell existed, that was a nice quesadilla. I can’t imagine paying $7 for one though.
Healthy hint: if you heat your griddle on low, and take a little extra time to cook your quesadilla on low, it will get even crispier than yours, with no butter.
I loved making them with cheddar and deli ham or chicken - better than a sandwich any day!👍🏼 And if you have a hearty appetite, use two tortillas, one on top of the other, with the fillings in the middle. Use a little care when it’s time to flip it so it doesn’t spill all over the griddle. Yum!
I loved seeing Rocky and Nala sitting so nonchalantly near the stove, just in case!🤣
I think Nala got some sour cream too!🧡🧡
👏👏 Home cooked food is always wayyyyyy better!! I refuse to eat out anymore. My cooking is clean and healthy.
I’m gonna try that! Looks delicious. Yes! A BK whopper next please! 😊
Egg McMuffin copycat recipe, please!
Make a chicken black bean bowl from Chipotle
I love the spinach addition. Great way to "Gitch" the kiddos.
PLEASE make more short videos like this. Can you do a video on water with current Amazon and competitor prices? Can you LITERALLY do a step by step hand holding video on the counter top style water purifying with the short term and long term costs involved? Break down the costs of the filters, buying the cheapest gallon water maybe and then making it drinkable? So what does that cost break down to per glass? In Arizona we cannot use tap water to filter. It is too contaminate with pharmaceuticals, contaminated with eroded pipe materials, fluoride and other things. So in Arizona no matter what we have to buy some kind of gallon water. Please make the videos as if you were teaching kindergartners. You take for granted all the years of experience and sophistication you have. So even though you think your videos are basic, they're not. So much respect and admiration for you! Thank you for all that you do to help others. ❤️
I had the same problem in AZ. Couldn’t grow a garden because of too many chemicals in the water…it killed the plants. Cheapest way is to buy a 5 gallon jug and refill it at a filling station at Walmart for 30 cents to a dollar.
And I love to see those two happy dogs at the end! Thanks for giving them such a lovely life.
Please do more cooking videos ! 👍👍💕
I’d like to see your KFC recipe! 😎
Thanks you for this! So many people don't know how to cook and this will give them an easy and inexpensive start! You're a blessing!!
For the 7 dollars that costs you could have bought a bag of tortillas and cheese and sauce for that and made 10 quesadillas!
That is exactly what I just did.
This is perfect timing. My stores are running sales on tortillas, salsa, cheese etc because of Cinco de Mayo.
Please do burger king whopper and maybe fries too?
Thank you for sharing. There is no Taco Bell here in Vienna (Austria). But it looks so delicious and I will make ist from scratch. I know how to make this bread, but now I have to google what are the both sauces are made of. Hope I wrote it right, my english is lousy and I'm still lerning. Hugs Sabine
Another thing i do is get rotisserie chicken, pick off bones. Put in bowl with little salsa (not runny) and makes greats enchiladas. YUMMO 😊 MUSIC IS ON QUEUE!!! Somebody snores.
Team Spatula all the way! 😂 And now I know what I’m having for lunch tomorrow! 😊 P.S. Nala was waiting patiently & as soon as it was done she was like that’s my quesadilla mom lol.
More copycat recipe videos, please! I make my own quesadillas and my own Egg McMuffin now. It used to be a treat but no more. I think the ones I make taste just as good.
Yeah proper princess I've noticed that too the blocks of cheese sometimes are higher-priced than the shredded cheese. That's why it's always good to compare prices every week to see which is on sale and what's not on sale so I can get the best value.
When I finally decide I want Taco Bell, I order 3 loco Taco supreme - lettuce." Please combine the inside in one container, leaving the shells on the side" yummy nachos 😄
I make these all the time. If I order a salad, like apple pecan, from Wendy's I take the chicken off the salad and take it home and make one of these out of it. Adding a little diced up green chili pepper to scrambled eggs makes it taste different.
Hidden Valley Chipotle ranch dressing is also pretty close to TB sauce or you can buy the Great Value dupe for half the price...
This was fun to watch. My vote for your next recipes are: Orange chicken a'la Panda Express, a Chipotle type burrito bowl, and/or a burger (Whopper) style.
Nice, please do more of these types of videos. Great tip.
Please see if u can replicate a Big Mac!
I haven't had one in over 5 years & definitely not paying $13 for 1 burger
Taco Bell Chicken Quesadilla Chicken, Three-Cheese Blend, Creamy Jalapeno Sauce, $5.09 at Taco Bell in my area. I ❤️ homemade chicken quesadilla and for the price of $5.09. Prepper Princess here is something I thought you might could try to make for a video sometime. Chipotle Vegetable Bowl Thank You for making all of the videos for all of us.
More cooking videos pls. Very nice presentation 👍🌸
I wasn't hungry...until I started watching you. Now I am droooooling!
Yummmm!
Thanks!
🤠
Old Polish proverb:
Not my circus, not my monkey.
Or ...
"Not my pig, not my farm."
...there are probably dozens of these...! 😁
Thank you for being a voice of reason during these hard economic times!
I second that!
My Taco Bell uses “mystery meat” tasting chicken. Also, they NEVER change their fry oil for the chips, so they always taste disgusting. I agree with you completely, we should just prepare our own food at home so that it will be cheaper AND better tasting! I cook all my meals at home now!
I love your puppy! Are you teaching her how to cook or is she waiting for food to possibly fall down to the floor?
This happened to me with the Crunchwrap. I can make it cheaper and it tastes better because it’s fresher. Honestly their menu uses the same ingredients in just different ways it’s super easy to make it yourself and make it in bulk.
Well! Now I have to make a quesadilla for lunch tomorrow! I’m very intrigued by the siracha mayo.
Thanks!! 😊
Mr.Rocky Pants giving you the side eye for not sharing your dinner with him... lol
Keep the recipes coming!!! Chipotle?
This is a staple made at our home for years now. It started when the kids teenage friends would stay over after school and request finger foods for dinner. Added carrots and celery sticks for dipping.
Whenever she cooks in her house, I get so excited to watch the video and I can’t wait to click….. I totally love when she cooks and puts it in the containers.
I love it when she gets about 167 meals out of a chicken and they cost out at about 6 cents each.
@@sonyavincent7450 me too
Looks great! I found the Taco Bell spicy chipotle sauce this week at my local grocery store. It was on sale bc it’s the week of cinco de Mayo. I got 2 bottles for $3.15 and it will last me all year ;-)
My son will use refried beans if he has no chicken. Your idea is perfect.🎉
Add some refried beans to that bad boy and we have ourselves a party! 🙂 Great recipe. Thank you!
I'm pretty lazy and honestly, I've been pretty much living off of that one-whole-chicken-makes several-meals video for like over a year 😂 Now I will have a second option! Bc I love quesadillas. Thanks PP!
Oh my gosh...this video was awesome! Please consider this as a series of restaurant dupes...I really enjoy your cooking videos since I enjoy cooking and eating out....I agree though the prices are ridiculous, which is why we don't dine out often....
Chick filet copycat recipe next please.
Quesadillas are the cheapest and easiest thing you can learn to cook. Over time I have made bean and cheese, pizza quesadillas, spinach and cheese, bacon and cheese, sausage and cheese, etc. You can just add anything to them. I have even learned to use leftovers to make quesadillas. And any sauce you can buy can be used as a dipping sauce. You can even precook some of the toppings and store them in your fridge.
Is that all you eat all day as your one meal? That is nothing.
Love how much you love your fur babies. I just lost my 15 year two days ago and I’m so sad beyond belief.
So sorry. 😢 It never gets easier no matter how many we have.
🥀
🥀
I'm so very sorry for your loss😢
@@maryrobie4752 Thank you so much. She meant the world to me.
don't look now, but you have a very captive audience behind you............
That was a good transition at the end. I have found with those fast food prices skyrocketing, you can spend that same amount at a regular restaurant.
If you want to be really fancy have a little chopped green onion and put a little bit of dipping salsa and dipping sour cream in little balls on the side of your quesadilla😊
You Forgot the Avocado! Smooches For Da Pooches!
I hardly ever eat out anymore. The cost is outrages. You can easily cut your cost in half by making your own meals.
I quit going to fast foods a long time ago. The food is just way too expensive and I can make it at home for much less Dinero. It taste better homemade anyways.😅😊😂
Taco Bell started selling condiments. Walmart and Dollar General has the sauce that is on their quesadilla
What is the sauce
I love your fur babies watching you in the background. 😊
I read recently that it's healthier to grate your own cheese. The grated cheese you buy has an anti-caking ingredient which is bad for your gut, and it also has a preservative which is bad for people, especially children.
Also healthier to NEVER use non-stick cookware (PFOAs) - there are plenty of nice stainless steel pans at the thrifts for like $3!
How is Taco Bell charging $6-7 for that?? Criminal.
I agree. Fast food was always a rip off but now it’s even more obvious
Well… they also pay rent, utilities, equipment, workers… I’ve never been to Taco Bell, but love me some Taco Cabana every once in a while. I’ve learned to make their frozen margaritas myself, though.
I haven't been to Taco Bell in ages. There was one near me but it closed. I can make a pretty good black bean taco, though. It's not as good as Taco Bell's, but it's much cheaper to put together.
They don't have a choice when they're forced to pay workers $20 an hour because everything else has gone up in price too.
@@ecbrent2 it's not salaries. If you look at their annual reports they are making record profits, up 12% year-after-year. The increase in wages and inflation helped them disguise the huge price hike. They love it, they're raking in cash as fast as cars can roll past the drivethru
Please do a video on what you eat for breakfast, lunch and supper for a week, your splurges? Snacks? Birthday? :) Thank you! LOVED your TB Quesadilla Copycat Recipe!!
I love your cooking videos. Be well ❤😘
I would love to see you make a Taco Bell Mexican Pizza. I love those and I usually order it without the beef. I just get beans on mine.
Yes, I like the Mexican Pizzas too.
Pre-shredded cheese contains a coating of powdered cellulose or potato starch - they list it in the ingredients, in fact. For me, I avoid it due to those extra carbs - yes i know it’s hardly anything but still. I’ll stick with the brick and shred it. Not a criticism for this video! I love your videos.
It’s that price where I live too and the minimum wage is 7$ an hour
The background music goes perfectly when you take a bite! 😊
I made chicken quesadillas yesterday for lunch. So much better than fast food
I love how the music in the background just elevated your taste test moment 😂 thank you for sharing the recipe 🤗
No flack from me. I just bought Farm style shredded Tillamook cheese at Winco this past Saturday for $ 1.99 a bag. Same price as Winco shredded cheese.
Thank you prepper princess! Love taco bell...but I do not eat out anymore. I would rather eat healthier. Love your cooking videos. 😊
I love to make these with black beans
I have to have guacamole as well.
My husband loves my homemade Arby’s ham and cheddar sandwiches. I can make 8 sandwiches with their frozen curly fries for almost $10 cheaper than 2 meals.
Thank you will be making those for my grandchildren 🏴
Awwwww look at those pups taking a snooze with mom. Just precious! Thx for sharing ❤❤❤❤
I had to get blood drawn for my new doctor. Afterwards I decided to treat myself to a Mexican breakfast at a Taquiera. The breakfast consisted of barbacoa, refried beans, potatoes, two fried eggs tortillas and water to drink. Hubby and I used to eat that meal for about $7. It was. $19.00 this morning!! I won’t be doing that again!!
Yes, the restaurants are becoming alot more expensive. Food here in South Florida has gone up 50% to 100% more than 2 years ago.
I hear it was linen tablecloth, linen napkins, lit candles, live music band, personal waiter, only fresh produce, wait what?"
I’ma gonna make that for sure!
$20 dropped at Wendy’s today…what was I thinking!!!🤦🏻♀️
I have a good idea for a video (unless you've already done it): A rundown of all the jobs you've ever had. What ever you're willing to share.
We make chicken quesadillas a lot. One of our faves. One thing I do is make a sauce with salsa and sour cream, put that on the bottom, then chicken and cheese. Sooo 😋🤤
I guarantee your quesadilla is not just a lot cheaper but a lot more healthier also than taco bell! I just made french toast and there was a hair in it, and I thought at least I know that hair is mine. Last time i went to taco bell years ago there was a hair in my food, I can take my own but not someone else’s.
$10.95 here in Australia.
Making yours tonight. ❤
So it’s not just a USA problem!! 👍🏼👍🏼
I will 100% be giving that recipe a try!😋😋😋
The background music perfectly aligned with your reaction!! Too cute!
Definitely shouldn’t touch food with your hands while you’re cooking it for yourself, especially when you will be using you’re hands to eat it😂
Your dogs are so beautiful, looks like a boxer and a Yorkie? I love the boxer’s snore, so cute.
Rocky is a boxer bulldog and Nala is a Yorkie Chihuahua. Technically they are both total mutts
Crunchwrap is next to make 😊
✨ 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 ✨
"Do What You Can With What You've Got."
Thank you for your great videos, Prepper Princess.
Omg I spent over $50 the other day for 4 chalupas and the crave pack (4 tacos and 4 burritos). Only reason why I got it was because my husband asked and paid for it. I only ate 2 🌮 and was like there is no way each item avg to about $4 and some change. No thanks. I make better tacos and burritos
Brilliant idea! I'm going for it..thanks Princess! I don't eat out at all, I love cooking my own meals at home. It's healthier and wayyy less expensive. I've always done it that way, I veeeerrry rarely eat out.
My favorite kitchen tool is SCISSORS. I cut EVERYTHING with kitchen scissors. Pizza, quesadillas, steaks, etc. Try it. It's an amazing solution for cutting stuff that is way easier than a pizza cutter or spatula or even a knife.
Love this, so much cheaper & healthier
I so agree about the spatula! 42 here!
