I feel like if Malekith was introduced just a couple of years later, he would've been a more interesting villain in the MCU, probably even give him as much character as he has in the comics.
While I'm not saying I want this version, I wonder how he would have fit in Hela's spot as Ragnarok's main villain? I can picture the way Taika Waititi would make the character much more extra and like certain versions of the joker.
@@kingofhearts3185 holy shit malekith really would've fit Taika's style more than a character like Gorr. I can just picture the goofy "I love killing and tricking people" kind of villain
I love comic-Malekith and I love that you‘re talking about him. I hate that the movie made everyone think he‘s lame. Seriously, he has an interesting backstory, a sardistic wit and a striking character design. The movie did NONE with that. One of my favorite Malekith-moments is him cutting off Thor‘s arm and parading it around his neck. So darkly funny the way he mocked poor Thor.
When I started watching New Who last year, after watching all of the MCU, I thought I'd never seen Christopher Ecclestone before. I now see how great Malekith could have been if the writing was better/less serious.
The makeup was definitely a hampering factor, but if the writing and direction was better he still could have shone… It will never notamaze me that their best idea for the Dark Elves was to just play them as boring, “dark is pure evil” (especially after the Frost Giants being ultimately people who Thor shouldn’t be slaughtering casually was a huge theme in the first movie). The fact that Malekith in the comics was a gleefully sadistic monster, a fun yet horrifying being, and they didn’t even try to use this? Mind-boggling… In his original story, even his own people feared and hated him and Algrim/Kurse wasn’t blindly loyal but a noble man who upon seeing what his King is turned on him and saved Asgard, becoming an honorary citizen and all… Then Jason Aaron brought him back AFTER the film and made him just as good if not better than he already was.
I really love in Jason Aaron's Thor, he was a guy who suffered all his life and when he was given a chance to live normal he was so frightened by it that he ruins at every turn
Malekith is such presence in the comics, but making him so serious in The Dark World is like a double edged sword. Like, I get it, they don't want to a villain who's just Loki, but worse, like you said, but movies always want to try something different from the last... But, just do Eviler Elf Loki again. An evil elf, with a group called The Wild Hunt, forgot Marvel had their version before The Witcher did. Also, Lorelei is Amora the Enchantress's sister, so it makes sense why she's just that, but lite.
I watched the EMH episode with him, pretty cool hehe (it was a cold box magic episode) I with that episode made the connection Half Dead/Half Alive split face with the common depiction of Hela as one of the interpretations of the mytholigical description, so interesting they made it another character Also the wild hunt is sometimes associated and lead by Odin so thats interesting
I don’t know why but I love these big characters spreads that include Kurse. I just love the look of Kurse and putting him next to more humanoid Thor villains makes him look even cooler

I think they were just too afraid to commit to the entire idea of Thor as a character like they thought it'd be too silly to lean too much into the fantasy aspects of it.
i have no idea whether you're saying Malekith correct or not but I'm like at least 70% sure you're saying Ulik wrong? but idk man Thor characters.............

I still can't believe they got Doctor freaking who to play him and he still turned out to be the most boring guy ever.

Christopher Eccleston is an incredible actor, they REALLY fumbled him in Thor: The Dark World.

That Superman meet up is great. I love when they do those.
A dark reflection of Loki with no redeeming qualities, now that could be an interesting alternate Dark World

I really liked Malekith... in Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes.
Ngl, I thought Nando was about to spit knowledge about Warhammer Fantasy for a second.

Watched on nebula twice, now time to show love on youtube

Tony vs. Ring Boosted Magic Malekith sounds awesome
Really looking forward to the Gorr video. That arc of Thor: God of Thunder is peak.
I get _so_ disappointed when Esad Ribic does a cover and not the rest of the issue, love his art so much

Great work
10:00 I knew I recognized that armor it was in the avengers game
Same
He’s good in discard
It’s crazy how bad the Thor movies are when his comics are so compelling and has such a great roster of heroes and villains
I think they were just too afraid to commit to the entire idea of Thor as a character like they thought it'd be too silly to lean too much into the fantasy aspects of it.
@@koifish835 this makes me kind of worried if they try to adapt Captain Britain.
They already have, with Captain Carter (that's still no excuse)@@ProjektTaku
Never been this early, hi Nando
Dark World's Malekith could work if Kurse had the big personality. Both being boring killed it.
not to be confused with Maleketh, the Black Blade
Are you going to talk about the upcoming Spider-man/Magic the Gathering crossover?
i have no idea whether you're saying Malekith correct or not but I'm like at least 70% sure you're saying Ulik wrong? but idk man Thor characters.............
also i honestly think chris eccleston was almost perfect casting for Malekith
Why does Malekith sound so familiar ? 🤔
The movie, or Warhammer maybe?
(=D
Enjoy the vids but Matvel Snap stuff SUCKS !! 😁🤣
