Between the infamous DT Miata jump, partaking in the Gambler 500, and mobbing a hardtail bike on the mean highways of California - dude has taken some real damage to the vertebrae. So you KNOW that with King of the Hammers around the corner, he can't help but join in on Hammertown. But a real race truck is pricey... and police auction cars are not. So, Zac's answer? Competing in Hooptie-X in this $1000 Volkswagen Touareg. And being an auction car, this thing is worked. First step: remove that exhaust. Voila, straight piped Touareg!

back pressure is not something you want its really a myth they only used to say you wanted a tiny bit because it has to do with exhaust velocity and scavenging there is a happy spot somewhere between tiny bit of restriction and too big that yields best performance but generally back pressure is bad

@@drewalsup9200 part of the back pressure legend nowadays comes from the ECU turning it down because the exhaust flows too well, so you have to retune it

@8:15 No engine needs back pressure they need enuff exhaust to provide parasitic vacuum to help pull exhaust out of the combustion chamber and help mix air fuel on the way in.

Two strokes only need back pressure for an expansion chamber to work properly, but the stringer after the expansion chamber pretty much does all that. The mufflers are mostly just to keep it from being horrendously loud.

It’s all just noise, it sounds like your going a million miles an hour but you’re only doing 30, when my ‘10 impalas exhaust broke off right at the headers it has the same power but sounded like it was going a lot faster and sounded horrible obviously because #V6

I had a Mk1 Touareg a couple of years ago.
It was plenty capable off-road but it was easily the worst, most unreliable, problem riddled car I have ever owned.
And I've owned a Citroen!

It has a variable runner intake ...check the front of the Intake manifold it may just have a broken clip, those v8 are doggy with out those runner working right... still willing to bet the air ride last 1 jump 🤔😅

FYI, you do not want back pressure on any engine. Back pressure is a myth. You want exhaust velocity. High exhaust velocity will create more power.

Yea man! Backpressure! Bc you know the engine needs backpressure Bc it uh needs to force those exhaust gases through the restriction which mean it’s needs to make torque to do that which means there is more torque now! Yea, backpressure!!!! Gotta have it!

I really hope you're kidding about the back pressure thing. Back pressure is bad, period. The less the better. What you want is exhaust scavenging, which has nothing to do with the muffler, and everything to do with the headers and collectors. That's what "long tube" headers are all about. Drives me crazy when people perpetuate the myth of "needing back pressure".

I had a Touareg. NEVER AGAIN. It had so many electrical issues! The battery under the seat was a pain too...
That high sierra might be of vintage it doesn’t matter.. but NEVER EVER start or rev the engine of the dead vehicle while connected to the charging vehicle.. starting and revving while still connected causes an electrical spike to the system charging the vehicle.. connect.. charge.. disconnect.. then start kids.. sending surges to electrical components may not break the pieces today, but it will greatly reduce their durability

1. Plug the air ride stuff back I in and see what the ride is set on. There’s one setting that jacks it up as high as possible and it’ll ride like shit.

Lack of torque is probably a broken actuator arm or ripped vacuum actuator on the 3-stage intake manifold... pull the vacuum lines and use a mightvac to test them.
It's all in the tune. Remove the exhaust & reprogram the fuel system. Is still stock so ya, straight up dog shit. Either way.

You should always use jack stands no matter how short of time you are under the car. Never trust a Jack alone. You are trusting your life to a .50 cent rubber seal.
